Today I realized Arrow Time is good for learning the assisted parry window, might be something you could try to learn.

If you aren't sure where to begin, I would say definitely work on control. Don't swing too fast, and give your swings breathing room.

Figure out your ideal range for whatever weapon of choice. Then figure out the "peak" of your swing where you do the most damage, and try and aim to strike at the peak.

At commoner you have no armor weighing you down so you can afford lots of quick strikes, but still gotta give them a moment to get under your control inbetween strikes

i think soldier tier is the best for complex swordplay like in here, open face helms mean pommel and quillon strikes work well, and the low armor incentivizes not getting hit while still giving a modicum of survivability compared to lower tiers, and with good mobility unencumbered by heavy armor. also has proper tier 2 longswords so yeah
