I hate fighting spears. Typically I'll strafe to the right on approach so they have a harder time aiming for me and then stay close so they can't back up enough to attack.

You'll have to re-center your camera now and then to strike high typically, because if your arms are low they'll be stuck on his body as you should be very close, at least how I fight them

Kind of an example, this clip when I'm really close I keep my hands high near his head so I can maneuver my sword to where I want it
