Stabbing Advice 🔪

When stabbing with alt (with swords), pull your weapon in closer to your body as opposed to extending your elbow out. It's much more accurate and stable.

Alternatively If it's a two handed weapon it is recommended to hold right click first, then drag your mouse to aim the weapon. Then from there double click and hold left mouse (you can try alt a little as well but clicking is more stable)
This is a much more stable and accurate stabbing pose, and a proper halfsword thrusting stance.

To practice your aiming, there's two different ways you can keep your FOV.
Third Person- with Low FOV, so you get a closer view.
or alternatively;
First Person- with High FOV, so you get a wide view of your weapon and it's positioning.

I think everyone has gotten confused on the difference between a playtest and a demo.

A demo is meant to give you a small experience of what the full game will be. As much as it might upset yall, they mentioned these intentions a long time ago on making the progression system a roguelite, and the original demo reflected this.

A playtest is supposed to be exactly that. A test for the actual gameplay of the game without any of the features like progression, etc.

While the playtest was a lot more streamlined and gave you choice of play, this demo is closer towards the game we will get at the end.

This is basically the best way of putting it.

Half Sword is, first and foremost, a sim. This is not an arcade game or a simcade. This is brutal, uncompromising reality condensed into a fun video game.

Roguelites are probably the best way of handling the game while also keeping the whole thing focused on the core gameplay loop, but it doesn't change the fact that, yes, this is a simulation. If you don't like that you can adjust the sliders to get realism settings that fit your preferences or skill level, BUT YOU CAN STILL DIE IN HUMILIATING FASHION.

I figured this out immediately. It's to test patience; if you go right for the knife you are risking the executioner's axe knocking your ass out or cutting off something important. Lure him away from the knife and then go for it when you see an opportunity.

The boss fights are more or less there to add challenge to the game. because to be honest you can steamroll the base AI easily every time. Even in real life, for all martial arts. Youll eventually face someone whos bigger than you, stronger than you, faster than you, or all of the above. I dont see how adding in a slightly taller person is making you get the impression that theyre going fantasy. They die just as easy as the other AI.
