This is true. The demo is the abyss rouglike minigame thing, and the playtest is just arena with more equipment choices and you don't start naked

Both the demo and playtest gore are a mixture of placeholder and wip features. The final gore mechanics will be far superior than any iteration before it.
Customization will be added as well, along with the roguelike game mode from the demo

Bug: Stuck on gore selection menu. When booting up the game nothing happens when making a gore selection.

Solution: Clean reinstall

Delete all files relating to the half sword playtest existing in your local files. Be sure to back up your screenshots folder if you took any!
Navigate to and delete the Half Sword Playtest folder located in the following directory.
C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common
Navigate to and delete the Saved folder located in the following directory.
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\HalfSwordUE5
Navigate to and delete the folder VersionTest54 located in the following directory.
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\VersionTest54

Finally, reinstall Half Sword Playtest.

be sure to get ALL files listed above before reinstalling, and it should work. Let me know your results please!

Well it's a playtest so it's bare bones, not even a proper game. Custom loadouts will be present when the actual game releases this year.

You can use OVRDTHs loadout selector to save loadouts you like, it's very simple to use.

Even with mods you have to go to the menu on death too. Again cuz it's a playtest so it's built like a minigame
