That simple mindset change literally made my gameplay 10x better.

When you fight, control your hands. Always move back to guard where you think something'll come next. The blade is just /there/ to accentuate your movements and deliver them to the enemy.

In any of my swordfighting clips where I'm not fucking around much, if I don't look like my feet are dancing I'm doing it wrong.

hey, I think it's cool. just some feedback:
I think rule A is not good. if you manage to quickly parry and cut the throat of your opponent or just quickly kill your oponent at the beginning of the round means you outmatched them and deserved the win.
my suggestion instead is to make rule A that one should use HEMA techniques instead of wildly swinging the sword for a win to count

Goal being to simulate a fight that a crowd is coming to watch - and to this day people will complain if a fight is over too quickly.

The other 'exploit' I am trying to get around is having the player 'cheese' the AI by parrying maybe a single attack and getting a killing swing in. I want the player to be exposed to a certain level of risk in a fight, and HEMA dueling makes single fights almost trivial for good fighters.

Honestly, that's the whole point of the rule - you aren't supposed to be going for debilitating blows or even hits from the get go. Part of the challenge is being able to survive 15 seconds with your hands tied behind your back. And it's meant to punish overly skillful play, like in the OG Spiderman movie. Spidey won but because the agreement was he was supposed to last 5 minutes, he didn't get paid what was promised.

The Double Blunt and the Bladed Poleaxe have different vertical input resistance and different speed caps.

The Double Blunt has the slowest speed and highest input resistance but packs fucking nuclear bombs of damage when hitting a head so I use it for t7-t8 but for lower tiers I use a bladed one

How tf do you get ungrappeled from npcs

but I keep getting grappled and bludgeoned to death

Press space to kick, you need to aim high to hit body/head. Use shift to quick step away from them to not let them get close, only way to get ungrappled is kill them or sometimes grapple back the limb theyre grabbing you with.
