I think anything over ~5 foot long counts as a polearm, bc if you have a 5 foot sword you have gauntlets and can hold it by the blade the way you'd hold a polearm further up the shaft

Unfortunately the claymore design is a bit past dated from the game, but overall the claymore ranges in various sizes and shapes.

In general, it was just a very large sword, they usually had specific names that adhered to the owner of the blade.

Here's an old copypasta I have explaining almost everything.

I understand how the playtest feels different without gore and the blood tech in, though, there are two main reasons behind that. The first I'm sure you're aware of— we are going to be using this build at Tokyo Games Show, hence why we are testing it.
and second, physics has been completely revamped, along with a total combat overhaul. They have introduced many realistic stances, and a stamina system which will punish spam swinging. the AI has also been vastly improved from the demo.

Because they are working on new Gore and blood tech, it needs to be tweaked to work with the new physics, it isn't quite at a place where the two merge well— if that makes sense.

As for the weapons and armour, I can say with confidence that in the playtest, they are much more reactive in terms of their physics, especially the spears and how they used to phase through other weapons and armour. You don't really see that anymore with weapons, most of those glitches being dealt with, so combat feels much more alive.

All that being said, have you seen any of the new gore leaks being developed behind the scenes? I can show you some, if you'd like.

Yeah the only main difference between jodan no kamae and regular western guards is that Japanese blades were commonly sharpened on one side, so they would have the blade facing vertically
