I could but there is currently no cutout / alpha / mask logic for translucent materials. @turbid shadow would that be a possibility in theory?
I've made the raindrops on the camera (quads) translucent but that results in visible squares. Tried with a transmission mask but I could still see the square at the end of the day

It's no longer emissive and the trails are caused by the denoiser

Well I have to make them more visible or the denoiser eats them - I can also use metalness and some other settings to make them less visible when light lights them up but that will also result in them being almost invisible when it gets a little darker.

is it possible to change texture of rain particle itself? like if u look at og rain drop its kinda brighter on both ends or in the middle of the droplet. (or its just low res AA) So maybe if u could recreate that effect, close up rain wouldnt look like a snow, but obviosly denoising will still eat everything.

With rain you also need additional particles like mist or fog plumes (idk what it's exactly called) to give a proper atmosphere. Maybe it's time to discard the original smoke effect from the game and shift it entirely to remix particles
I wish the raindrops could be made translucent and with a normal map, that would be perfect.

Can you use mesh replacement for 3d refracting droplets? I do that for call of duty

As long as the camera droplet is facing the cameras perfectly parallel, there shouldnt be any refraction

hey @next sundial i have a suggestion on the install notes in github
if someone first installed rtx remix mod then the compatibility mod, the notes are not clear about that specific path
for example, i already have rtx remix mod 0.1.2 and the compat mod 0.9 installed, this is a new version of compat mod, it's not clear in github the update path from that
On Installation, you can add a note before step 1 called: "If you only have RTX Remix Mod installed or already have an older version of compat mod installed" then you instruct that you can just paste and replace everything
I think you'd be better off using the opaque material for those rain drops - translucent is more for entering / exiting a medium, which doesn't really play well with the idea of alpha cutouts (i.e. when a ray enters in an 'on' pixel and exits in an 'off' pixel, what does the barrier between those pixels look like?)
Also @next sundial i updated and now the game crashes at startup, bridge64.log says that

Another option might be a plane of glass a bit in front of the camera, and then use decals on that to get the raindrops? not sure how that'd wind up looking, but it might get you closer to what you're looking for.

decals and particle effects can't cause a ray to defract mid-ray, that only happens when a ray terminates.

I think there was something wonky about putting decals on translucent surfaces... unsure, but you may wind up needing to check how that's done on some of Portal's glass decals (bullet holes, blood splatters, etc).

Funny that all it took to make "best nfs rtx mod" is rain. (obv proper car paints and rain droplets on car itself do alot, but come on nfsu2 has way more assets done). Similar situation was nfsmwrtx, where only few things where working and that one also somehow was better for kuruhs and people in comments.

I found a way how to capture nitro, connect gamepad and assign nitro to steering stick in gamepad settings, press alt+x (while pressing throttle on keyboard) and capture scene while having working nitro (For whatever reason every time I try to capture scene game crashes, so u have to do it)

hand placed. This game uses baked lighting so there is no actual light info (besides headlights of cars I think)

Carbon looks great and runs better. why wont the game allow high internal settings? The mod works without the game settings set to high.
settings are forced, why would you even want to increase graphic settings that are completely useless for remix?
they arent useless for other remix titles.(Underground and UG2) some settings can change aliasing and minor things like glass! where do i turn the lights on? i know how for other titles.

Lights are added via remix replacements and do not automatically translate from game -> remix
Aliasing is gone when you use any type of upscaler, which is very needed for this game

Hey there, I just downloaded the mod and followed the instructions on the github page but the game freezes and crashes pretty much right at the start, it's been some time since I last installed an RTX Remix mod so can anyone tell me if I've missed something?
I run on an RX9060XT 16Gb, Ryzen 5 5600 and 32 Gigs of DDR4
