I would bet my entire life's savings that those tri counts have such an infinitely tiny increase in VRAM that it might as well not be there
technically the more characters I type into the discord chat box the more RAM discord is using. Should I care? No
the real performance concern would be in rendering the tri count. But because we're using pathtracing that's a non issue
geometry can be much more dense without any perf impact compared to rasterization

I watched a whole video on it but tri counts are a serious concern in modern game dev because modern games are rasterized or at the very least they're using a hybrid with RT on top. Remix is 100% pathtraced, it's not a hybrid system

I decided on keeping the plastic instead of having realistic materials such as metal for these canisters but use pbr plastic instead of a single colour like the original game. It should hopefully be apparent enough that it is plastic so it is breakable

For me, my first batman memory has to actually be Lego Batman 1
My first memory of it is VERY early, I played it on a store console lmao

And then after that, I started getting into the Arkham Games

Haven't looked over the shots too much. As for the lighting, it feels like it's at too sharp of an angle and is unnaturally dark
There should probably be a bit more glow/strength to it, and the angle should be raised so its less harsh
Ok I can try. The light is coming from the lighthouse so I can try and raise it and shift the moon so it isn’t behind that. There is also blue moonlight coming from the left
I can’t raise it too much though because you can barely see it on screen now and the camera doesn’t move up that far

You want to see what you can do with the original texture but it like 512x512 which is really low. So you might see higher quality results by finding a similar texture with more data and modifying it to match the original

but from all my time as a 3d artist, some textures just look bad
nothing you can do about it sometimes
normal maps look messed up, roughness can have the wrong values... etc
theres also a chance that its the ingame lighting messing up the texture though

I think this texture looks pretty good actually. You know what you could do, rotate each of the texture maps 90° so the orientation matches the original game. Also means you won't get that weird warping effect on the right side of the building since it being horizontal will hide it

Afaik, this can only happen if that side of the wall is a different object, which it isn't I think
There's light but I think if those are rectangular lights I'm seeing, they might not be the play. Sphere lights would do better if you want a slightly more dramatic look
Also increasing the depth of the height with the values in the Remix toolkit would also make it more likely to play off of the light neatly

I mean swapping out the rectangular lights you have now with using sphere lights instead. I don't think it's all that necessary but it might make it look a little more dramatic since the light is coming from a single point

Are you trying to make the aesthetics like Batman '89? I think that It'd fit perfectly since all the music style of the OG uses stuff from that movie
That would be incredible. Unfortunately, even though I would love to, I am going for the dark knight trilogy because its easier as its more modern and less Gothic which is what the OG game looks like, so its simpler to continue like that
thats fair. I wonder if you turn up the grunginess of the textures and maybe make certain colors POP, you could get something similar to it without too much hassle. Also I wonder what it'd look like if you add some style from The Batman (2004), since that show had some nice skies
That's a good idea. I'm aiming for the colours to pop for sure. Grungieness will require custom textures instead of the ones I'm finding online so that will be something I look into once I've done an initial pass over the entire game, setting the tone, placing lights and trying to get at least 80% of the textures righr

Pretty good man. Kinda reminds me a bit of Batman & Robin and Batman Forever when in areas with lots of colored lights. The First level outside does remind me of Dark Knight with the more realistic lamp coverage

I've joined the teammm, batman's getting the remix treatment. Frisser and I'll use PBR textures from various free websites/places, keeping it authentic to the game as possible, but will make artistic enhancements where needed that stick with the theme
