Could you please provide a video demonstrating the issue? I would like to determine if the material is flashing red or if it simply displays a red color. If it only shows a red material, it indicates that the albedo texture is missing. However, I have not made any changes to the albedo texture in the script. The occurrence of red materials typically happened prior to Remix 0.4. In Remix 0.4, the ability to load textures from memory instead of relying on local drive loading has been implemented.

Have you added "rough_only,usda" at the end of the line in your mod.usda file? I have implemented an automatic addition of this line in the script. If it doesn't appear in your mod.usda file, there might be a bug in the script that I need to fix.

It seems that you selected the wrong folder, specifically "game folder\rtx-remix\mods\gamereadyAssets". As a result, the sub-layer was not assigned to the mod.usda file. I will address this issue in the next version and provide a fix. In the meantime, a simple solution would be to change the folder in the UI, which will easily resolve the problem.

This is not the final version of the script. I have plans to add more functions in the next major update, including the ability to create PBR textures on the fly. However, before releasing that update, I need to delve into the remix render API. Once it's released, you will have the capability to create PBR textures for car paint or car wheel materials directly. However, please note that you will still need to install additional software, such as ChaiNNer, to accomplish this.

I haven't modded NFSMW, but I'm curious if the game includes a sky mesh. If there is a sky present, it might be possible to write a script that makes it spin around, creating a day cycle effect.

It's just very little light coming from sky. + some lights added to streetlights and headlight on some cars
Looks really nice, with bright headlights and bright enough sky - you can see everything, without making it unrealistic.
But my suggestion would be adding emissive lights to traffic cars, as nfsu2 without traffic headlights it's impossible to see traffic cars in some situations. About proper traffic headlights I don't really think it's possible to fix problems wich nfsu2 has (headlights popping, + stucking in air), but maybe with MW LODs system it will be less obvious.
Does nfs mw finally works with day night system, or it's still impossible, so it's gonna need some work arounds?

Oh yeah I really didn't put a whole lot of effort into it. It was meant to see how interested people were in a night mod for the game. My efforts are mostly for the regular day mod.
I did have an issue with things getting stuck in air(brake lights were the big one) when I attached lights to them. Making them emissive "fixed" the issue, but they don't really give off light the way they should I think. Could be my fault, I'm not sure. Like I said it was just quickly done to see what it would look like and if anyone would be interested in it.
Day/night system I have no clue how you would even do that lol. It's not natively in a game feature so I don't know how possible it is through modding or wizard remix work.
I plan on releasing my early work between end of March and middle of April. Few disclaimers 1)It was all done by me and I have no experience with game dev, modding, or anything even remotely close to this 2)A lot of this is AI. For a solo learner, this was the easiest way for me to work on the project. My plan is start with AI and replace with new materials that I get myself. I do think my workflow has resulted in better than average AI results or that people would expect(I mean I really think the road looks fantastic)

With Ray Reconstruction we get super stable shadows! (ALL screenshots are in motion) To use Ray Reconsturuction in NFS:MW You need .trex folder from portal rtx, and bridge from github, only this way it works
Hey your scrip works, but unfortunately not the "Add ignore Hash" button I selected it click on Save & Refresh button, restarted game. But textures selected to be ignored where still glossy. What do you think I'm doing wrong?
I used both ways for ignore folder just captures/textures, and cptures/textures/car texture, neither helped.

The "Add Ignore Hash" function is utilized to prevent apply any roughness value to the material. Only affect by the material using the Legacy Material setting or texture replacement. The "Add Car Paint" and "Add Car Wheel" in a similar manner. The only distinction is that the "Add Rough Hash" function creates a rough material with a roughness value of 0.7.
The reason for having three types of "Ignore texture" is because I have another script that applies different types of car paint to the car body. Additionally, for the "Add Car Wheel" function, I use a global PBR texture set consisting of roughness, metallic, normal, and height maps for the wheel texture.
In order to use the new version while retaining the previous settings, please delete the old version file named "lazy_rough_only_material_v0.x.py". Then, rename the file lazy_roughess.conf to lazy_material.conf.
Unfortunately when apply suggested in tutorial rtx remix settings everything becomes glossy, neither of parameters have effect on game for some reason (ignore/rough), after save and restart of game

You don't need to restart the game for it to work. Simply press "Save and Refresh", Remix will automatically updated without the need for a game restart.

no effect, i think I'm doing something wrong. Im coping texture hash in remix, i see that hash in script I click Add rough Hash > save refresh - nothing changes. Look picture 3 inside rough only after click ignore texture therese only empty thing. (I tried one more time with paint and rough - only empty rough_only.usda)
The scrip creates rough_only.usda but it's always "empty" - doesnt save any parameters
The "Ignore Folder" option should not be set to the capture folder. I have a separate folder specifically designated for storing all the car body textures that need to be ignored. If you don't have a dedicated folder for tracking the ignored textures, you can simply browse to any empty folder without any textures inside.

I plan to create a new version that allows for easy assignment of different material, expanding beyond just applying roughness. It will be similar to a "semi-interactive" material library, offering more versatility in material apply.
what's the point of storing all car textures? it looks like it's rendering car textures on top of the vinyls just like when I'm importing textures from ps2 emulator

Alright, I understand that you may not be fully aware of the situation. In Remix, we are unable to recreate the albedo texture due to the random texture hash associated with the car. As a workaround, I have utilized a combined decal body texture to create the roughness, metallic, and normal map textures. However, I require an actual complete texture instead of a unique texture for different parts. Do you have any suggestions on how I can improve the efficiency of my approach?

@grand crag Hey, if I remember correctly you did "fix" day night system in GTASA, so do you have any idea how can be done similar things in NFSMW? Here is pic 1 just normal use of distant lights which are fully static. Pic 2 Sun does effects shadows placement (It "works accurate"), but fist sun colour temperature isn't customisable, and second look pic 3 - sun lighting "jumps" with movement of the car.
I am using a script to add an object in the game and attach it to the camera position. The object's position is calculated based on the game time. If NFS doesn't provide game time, you can simply rotate the object slightly on each frame. After replacing this object in Remix, you can add a sphere sky and place a real sun sphere object, Additionally, you can include a moon and a sphere light to cast light. Ensure that you position them far away from the origin.

I mean main problem with build in sun is that when car moves it flickers whole world, so the only way is to do what Hemry said.
Im not doing anything, the only guy working spesificly on MW right now is BigBoy. But thanks to Hemry script as you can see BMW and any other vehicle finally has working paint! So game is pretty much playable, only annoying thing is weather (Sun, rain, skybox, and no effect of rain on roads - thoose things need smart guy which knows what to do)

For the upcoming script update, you can utilize a custom material similar to the one shown in my screenshot. Since all my scripts are hardcoded to assign only three materials, I will modify them to be compatible with a "material.usda" or any other custom name that allows for the application of different material types.

- Get clean game with 0 mods (use your own CD drive version or search for .iso version). [Note- If you have download it from somewhere which has no mods, otherwise you will have weird issues]
- Install AdamPlayer RTX extract into game folder.
- Use graphics settings shown on screenshot - highest World Level Of Detail and Car Geometry, rest doesn't matter. To apply settings get in out of garage.
- (Optional) HUD Fix
If you have HUD Fix issues where everything is looking like blocks then you can use this fix. - (Optional) AntiCull Mod Optional
If you use Anti-Culling Lights in RTX-Remix and are satisfied with that, do not apply this. This will decrease performance at the cost of removing any culling in front of the player's camera.
Make sure to make a backup of speed2.exe!
Use LunarIPS or IPStool to apply the IPS patch to your speed.exe. In ROM section put your speed.exe, in IPS section put speedMW-AntiCull.ips, then download Result, rename downloaded file to speed.exe and put it inside game folder (with replace)

Actually it was easy - before i was marking shadow maps, it was before rtx remix update that you could select texture with mouse, so i drive 10 meters and then scroll through whole list of textures to find shadow map there, it was pain.
This selecting process was way easier with RED colour flashing what should be selected and comfortable mouse click selection.

@opal trail if i would Remake it. I would put the clouds away from the sky. ( there are enough clouds in the sky in reallive, we didnt need them ingame too.) And reduce the Sun intensity a bit. The sun is blinding a bit too much in the video. And i saw a Screenshot from mw how it would look without coulds and active HD textures. It was nice.

As far as I know it can't be removed, so download nfsmw extra options, enable time of day change, when you will be in game go to video settings, instead of resolution slider you will see time slider, put it in the middle

Well, only when used 1 sky, if 1 get to make 3 like cloudy, sunny (clean) and partly clouded it could also have that effect

Game still switches sky boxes (starts position changes slightly for 1 frame, sky itself stays same blue colour - doesn't go black), but it is not noticeable, if you aren't looking for it. So yea it fixed thanks.

i managed to get ray reconstrucion working. I copied these files from portal rtx .trex folder to .trex folder in nfs mw : d3d9.dll , nvngx_dlss.dll , nvngx_dlssd.dll , nvngx_dlssg.dll. The differences are really big especially because i have to play on ultra performance dlss and the shadows are know super crisp instead of being like i blob on the road!

Get clean game, follow guide, after getting working RTX, try mods, not the other way around.
You know, usually I'm not the one to complain but step 4 imo is unintuitive when reading the steps' description. "Put this inside game folder <then there goes the link to supposedly the mysterious "THIS">, and while I see the link ends with 'build.yml' and I deduce how "THIS" might be the file 'build.yml' that I would have to put inside game folder... but after clicking on said link it takes me to a huge list with different threads (e.g. 'Merge branch X into main' etc. etc.), and now I'm not so sure I follow it correctly because there's no 'build'yml' file seen anywhere near. Ofc when I click the word 'build.yml' there (which is btw written in blue) it takes me to the code page with a teeny-tiny download button to the right of it, but again I'm not sure whether this 'build.yml' file is actually "THIS" (to put inside game folder) from the guide, or not. Tip for the future guides guys: please write down what exact things to put, if you may. Like, "Put the file put_me_there.please inside X, download it from Y." Thank you in advance. tl;dr: step4's instructions unclear, pls advise.
Ok I tried putting bridge-remix's build.yml into game folder, and dxvk-remix's build.yml into .trex folder, put AdamPlayer RTX mod there, and the game told me the GPU lacks the support, and will then exit. What can I say, as I expected what a load of carp it is. Don't get me wrong I respect the work of modders, it's just I absolutely hate how RTX Remix doesn't support at least Pascals (and I own a GTX1070) because it's a GPU capable of ray tracing which is proven by the fact the games like CONTROL (or Quake 2 RTX. Or even OFFICIAL (!!!) Nvidia RTX demos (like RTX Attick demo) run RTX just fine on it. Yes, the perf is bad, but Pascals. can. run. RTX. Period. It's just devs & Nvidia engineers decided to stop optimizing RTX for older GPUs (Pascals included), so they artificially made those obsolete. And that's what I call a load of carp. (I honestly don't remember if Discord blocks obscene words by default, or server filter might kick in.)
GTX cards don't support DLSS. And for RTX Remix mods, ESPECIALLY on a Low End RTX-GPU (like 3050), You NEED to be able to use DLSS, otherwise you would have a Powerpoint Slideshow with less than a frame per second because of how RTX-Remix running in Native Resolution is Resource hungry (in terms of VRam, you would need at least 16GB and Maybe then you wouldn't have to use it, but the performance on That GPU would still be Bad af). Yes, This GTX can do some RT, but it doesn't matter if it doesn't support Other Features that Nvidia wants you to have on your GPU, Just so you would be able to play on at least 30fps. If Nvidia would (somehow with fooken magic) unlock running RTXRemix on this GPU, then people would bombard them with bad Feedback because of Extremly low framerates in 2010 games, Only because they're too dumb to understand that this is Resource hungry, And requires GPU Supporting DLSS. But - No one's blocking you to modify RTX Remix to get it running on a Non-RTX GPU in it's code because it's OpenSource and Compile your own version of it, but like i said - Without DLSS you won't get far (it might even be another blockade, because it is on by Default).
tl;dr: Without DLSS, you need better pc lolk.
thx for detailed explanation! No, really - thank you! I actually tried DLSS unlocker in some games, and it did wonders in, say, WRC Generations or Lords of the Fallen (2023). So, uh, yeah it sounds interesting - if only I could code, haha. But I assume it's no rocket science to modify it to run on a non-rtx gpu, so I might have a look some day. Just out of curiosity :))))) But again thanks for pointing that out!
Oh, i forgot about that one. Well, RTX Remix Doesn't support at all AMD's FSR, but maybe by file replacement you might be able to at least use DLAA? Maybe it's worth a shot, but like i said - Perf. will still be bad, and Nowadays when we (almost) have access to Ray Reconstruction in RTX Remix we can even solve some issues (like Ghosting in some cases) and make Game's look even better so you would still have a Bad Experience, lacking required Hardware as Nvidia stated (And i'll repeat again - they have Reasons not to support older GPUs here). Anyway - No one's blocking you to modify the code just so you can try it (and chatGPT is always here to help, or maybe even some people on #general-remix , i guess).

I don't think one screenshot says enough.... textures are like ps2 level.... world lod and car geometry are on the highest settings, dlss is on quality and I can't find a native option.
its probably something simple but I don't know shit about graphics mods since I never use them so I'm sorry for bothering you. This is the first one I ever installed since I just recently built a new PC with a 4070
disable dlss - native resolution. Anyway its current state of mod, we are waiting for Big Boy to release his stuff (he upscaled every texture properly), when it happen only he knows.

Update on that. School has been super insanely a lot of work recently (randomly assigned group projects are the worst thing on this planet btw) so I'm behind on where I wanted to be by now. I've got 2 more weeks of classes including finals and that's much more important at the moment. Also, admittedly I haven't felt very motivated to work on the project and I really don't want this to come out really half assed or turn out garbage. The toolkit turned out very underwhelming for my workflow and just isn't the speed boost for me I thought it would be, unfortunately.
I think I said this month I'd have something out, but it's more likely going to be next month and probably not as finished as I had hoped it would be.

You can disable sun > dowload and.install nfsmw extra options > open ini file in script folder > enable feature - change time of day in vide settings (I don't remember particularly what name was). > When in game go to video settings, instead of resolution slider you will see time of day slider > put it somewhere in the middle

Deleting the texture would result in game not booting. You would have to replace it with an alpha texture. But we arent allowed to provide gamefiles so that would not work. One thing we could do is mod the game files and upload the modded one to a modsite like nfsmods or nfsaddons as a RTX Remix sunflare fix

Correct SUN position is needed (currently we are using just separate huge static light over game world), nfsmw for each.race changes time of day, it makes some cat scenes very dramatic.
So ideally you need to make game display RTX Remix SUN wich will be attached to game time, and make it visible somehow (obviously correct way - not like right now).
Also interesting can you mod nfsmw itself for 24h time cycle (or at least move sunset/sunrise closer to each other, so when game will try to do sunset - it will be already night)
If we doing it we also need hell raven with his skybox textures.
AND in the future we should get weather to work:

Many tried but there isn't an official MW project, only some concurrent experiments. If a team would like to assemble around the project, I already pay for LFS storage over git on my account for U2, would be glad to share, in case you'd like to use git to manage the mod files.

UPD: filter itself took me a while (20 seconds) to configure, so today I looked at xbox 360 footage (it had same piss filter as PC).
X360 version has way more brown, under saturated.
Also X360 cars have huge sun reflection, like bloom on car. I don't think it's possible to easily achieve it, (because we are talking about standard rtx remix menu material system) but I will try.

Try finding vsync in ..conf file itself, disable it there, then launch game

you can when you update to remix 0.5.1
its actually a bug of windowedmode where the controller triggers the tabbing state and then insta crash the game
remix 0.5.1 fixed that
its also recommended to get latest bridge and dxvk remix files

You are using wrong m3gtr version, use ALMS version

There's lore accurate m3 in mw2012, with proper hood shape, so if i find .fbx of that one i will also nend it (keep in mind that is better to use whole car from heat, and only hood from mw2012).

you need to look at the 2001 alms car
the 2004-05 gtr raced in vln and bodywork is different
also 2001 ptg team m3 gtr is slightly different
the one in game is from bmw works team that should be the only reference

Nah, Hemry did amazing script for car paints (nfsu2), the thing also worked in mw, so I used it here

It is not there in nfsu2, so certainly there should be a way to fix that.

Heat model only in places were that one lacking polygons
REMEMBER that heat model has wrong hood shape, use shape from model that you already have (that red one, wich is probably from mw2012)

There are literally dozens of thousands of car model converts from Forza/NFS/GT/TD and other games to GTA series, ATS/ETS/BeamNG/Farming simulator and many other games and i've never heard someone got sued for it or got in any kind of trouble for it, and i can't see how it can happen unless you plan to somehow profit off of it.
There are even paid patreon sites that convert models for GTA 5 from other games and they have been running for years, so nobody cares about it. I don't know why you guys from NFSUG2 and MW remix project developers insist so much on remaking every car model from scratch when its going to take yoy countless hours and unnecessary effort to do all of that, when you can simply convert most of those car models from other games whose models are laser scanned, so even if you end up remaking every model, it still is going to be subpar and have geometry inaccuracies.
Same thing with game asset models and vegetation, you could take models from other games and save yourselves lots of time and effort.
oh how nice it would be for people to stop advocating for stealing assets
It is not about being quick, working smarter not harder and minimax the joy away of it.
It is art, for some of us it is a professional career path, and as fellow artists, it is simply not right to steal stuff being it asset or code.
Also, it is our craft, we want to take our time to make it, not rush to deadlines or anything
i personally don't give a crap how many projects have done it without getting in trouble. yes it means the company is more tolerant to it, but it doesn't make it okay or legal

Like Joey mentioned, ppl are free to come and make their own. Our repo is also open source so anyone can fork and make their own stuff, just gotta check the license terms which is quite permissive

Put letters a bit closer to each other, make them 30% bigger, experiment with stretching "remix" wider, at least 10-20%
This way it should look just perfect, because now "remix looks a bit too small"
