When is it optimal to do synth purity 2?
fire-rates without core-upgrades feel so sluggish, but I guess that's part of the challenge (currently doing synth1)
are you using beam and gattling at least? the damage doesn't matter so you want high fire rate weapons

ignore additive multiplier. Find Total Multiplicative multiplier, divide it by the multiplier from the Synth Station
result will be your synth speed without core

or rather, you move the decimal one place to the right. so for 4.01e4 it's 40 100

e11 is easier to write in plain text than x10^11 so spreadsheet programs and such tend to use it
but traditionally that's engineering notation, which uses only powers that are multiples of three

PSA: In the next version the synth challenge notifier will disregard the synth utility when determining whether a challenge is green/easy (since you can't level it due to no salvage). Hope that makes things nicer 😊

What estimated sector for synth 5?
sector isn't as important as your synth-speed, and you'd want to look at about 5e23 speed
True, but the sector you're in often correlates to your stats
should also ignore purple void buff too. got it green that way and tried it but utterly failed xD

take the "total multiplicative bonus" and divide it by 2.25
that gives you a rough estimate on your actual synth speed without the synth core

idk where else to get synth speed at this point, i know my warp upgrades but it takes forever to just get one of those, and research takes a long time as well, im tryin to get another module slot so i dont want to grab a few points in the synth speed from synth itself.
i guess its just a waiting game then right?
I'd say keep up the warp, and try to clear 50. that'll make going for more synth a lot easier

Started SP1 at 19h30m and SP1 took me 3 hours to complete. I had lv 3 dmg/shields from synth points and lv5 synth speed.
I went through 10B for the earlier synth shard and unlocked challenges using base1 mult 12x just as I hit lv27 on the green bar.

sorry noob question... doing Synth 1 following guide. 2 questions. Assume compute is useless in Syth challenges - seems active is all. Up to T2 L5 on Damage and Shields modules, but anyone know why the Continuous Shields max value keeps changing randomly? Gets to 8.6e4, but then just drops right back... I keep trying to time Sector 6 Boss on a peak, but don't know why it's fluctuating. Obvs the shield values fluctuate with hits, but the max also moves - is this a feature of COntinuous Shields I hadn't noticed?

sometimes crafting a material can reduce your total "worth" of your banked materials

the real answer is everything, on a curve, but bars are easier and "just a shitload of bars" is actually not THAT far off optimal
also make sure you build and upgade your actual damage modules
those get reset too and you have to remake them for the challenge
how to use the spreadsheet?
spreadsheet is of dubious use
it tells you how many points/total crafting time each item is worth, which varies because some items have faster or slow ingredients
and ranks them from "best" to worst. but that's comparison is only true when you craft exact the same amount, the formula also has diminishing returns. the more you make of one thing, the less good that thing is
so if you have 1e30 of something, is it still "better" probably not
just make a little of everything for a few seconds until it slows down, and then make bars

getting nearer to SP3, max synth speed is about 1.5e6 with synth station and I get about 6.7x boost from it, so getting to 2e6 synth and 4th slot should let me do it

If youre very close to it it's worth saving up but at your point you're better off investing in the cheaper ones

that's honestly not that far off. it would be a little faster to do a little of each material from the most expensive down
just make stuff until the amount you have stops increasing "quickly" whatever that means. but bars are the most efficient

According to mathematical analysis, to get the highest damage/shield in a certain time, the number of materials should be distributed according to the weight of RecipeTime^4 / TotalRecipeTime^5. TotalRecipeTime is the total time required to craft this material, including its raw materials.
Maybe this analysis is wrong, but if it is correct, it means that crafting high-level materials is completely not worth it?
Im not sure where it might be wrong, but if the conclusion is that staying producing T1 only works thats definitely not correct
qualitatively: the diminishing returns means when you make a lot of something, that thing is worth less and less.
so at some point a small percentage of the cheap mats time value is worse than then large percentage of the expensive mats
It did start from a point, but if that model is correct, this point came too late.

These are just theoretical calculations, and these ratios are only the optimal solutions when the theory is correct.
These have not been validated yet, so I will test it as soon as possible.
if I follow, say you make e50 bars (e7 weight), the correct amount of special focuser (e-17 weight) would be ~e26
if that's right, then you math could be fine? and you were just underestimating the number of bars you make?
it's been a while since i did challenges so i honestly dont remember the numbers

I may simply underestimated the amount of materials required for the higher level challenges.
but these weights should be correct.
here is the normalized weights, add up to 1.
the previous one didn't take into account that depending on the tier, a synthesis can result in multiple outputs (8, 12, 16 and etc.).

interesting results
high tier materials contribute very little quantity, but they take up a considerable amount of time for synthesis.
to be honest i dont know how these multipliers works cause i didnt unlock much high level materials. and Wiki did not mention this.

Those are the what I already know, but I am not sure how many such milestones there are for higher tier materials, and to what extent the output can be increased. (have unlocked ultra-tier materials so far)
However, unless it is an exponential growth, the impact on the final value should not be very significant. (The mathematical model itself is robust, and these possible variations only affect the input parameters)
I dont think I'm understanding the challenge that well currently doing synth 3 and i have double the recommended synth speed on the wiki but the synth challenge specifically seems to take a long time compared to others? I definitly dont understand the math analysis yall were doing above if anyone has some pointers for this challenge

yes i have smartcraft on the three slots i have ive stockpiled up to e4 on t3's aside from whats used to craft the t4's

well getting the fourth synth slot first will definitely help but it shouldnt make too much of a difference...

im up to t5 materials but the orange bars take a couple seconds i can quickly craft t4 which is what im stockpiling atm

Synth gotta be my favorite system in this game and the boosts you get for the completions are huge.
I just have finished all modules on T2 infinite and am working on the first four T3 modules, bars circuits orbs and waves
the second run took me quite a long time tbh.. I think I started that too soon. just barely unlocked T3 to get the damage and shield modules up and then stacked 1e4 of each thing, followed up by a ton of bars.
Took an entire day, because building the modules takes so long, but I did it^^
I answered the question myself by trying… no definitely not ready… I only managed to get to 18 out of 20

The requirement for tier 5 on the wiki can be greatly reduced, I've done it in 12m (straight bee-line for S32) with 2e22 (all tier 7 infinite)

That one is a bit easier to test though cuz you can theoretically just calculate
i think optimizing base challenge is difficult
because it depends on buildings levels, not just slots
and those levesl might then alter the minimum winning layout
and people will have different leves in different orders
so honestly for the best we can do on the wiki is a modest overkill strat

and it wasnt even close

So it's probably even doable with 1e19 in under 10m
I'm probably just dumb, but I read this as 1 = x damage and shield multiplier, but I have 12 at the time of this screenshot and it doesnt even come close... So what am I missing?

It feels like I'm missing something on Synth 5.
Like, I got to 32, maxed blue weapon and shields. Doesn't look like there is anything else I could do but AFK it. But when I tested that by trying 6 hour warps to see how long that would take, I'm looking at 18 hours.
Are you not meant to get synth 5 done while half way through all blue synths?

Alright, max blue shield and weapon, and only 1 level in combat modual. I was able to beat Synth 5 in about an 1:45.

The biggest difference is the combat module. Without it. Pretty much a no go.
just as a note, I didn't do any stockpiling for that 2e19 run. I just made a few basic modules then left sword shield and combat to fill (Atk and Def were both done. As seen in the pic, combat was still lvling).
Anybody know if for Synth challenge 5, with 5e19, you need to actually be able to craft T8 stuff? Because I can craft 10/10 T7 but the jump to T8 is pretty absurd. And I'm still like 3 sectors from my goal...
Biggest thing is you need to make the combat module. Took me only like 2 hours with 2e17, so e19 should be a breeze as long as you can craft the module

Right. I ended up smashing it in like 1 minute. Unsure why it felt like a struggle at 2e19
which resources do you tend to make to build up multiplier? I know that hoarding a single material has diminishing returns, but higher tier materials consume the lower tier ones and the multiplier is only based on their build time, not the buil time of their components, which would make higher tier resources a bit inefficient. Should i just hoard a ton of T1 materials?
You start with the highest you can craft a lot of quickly, then work your way down
Smart craft will fill in a lot of the blanks
But you do want a good selection of the different materials, not just T1

How do you increase your synth speed other than the synth point upgrades and the reactor?
Dumb question, when doing the Synth challenges, is there a relatively easy way to know how/when to buy the upgrades vs just stockpiling up the materials when tryign to advance?
the only way to tell exactly is to look at the boss stats in "Sector Data" and calculate the exact combination of synth bonus and module bonus needed to defeat it
the way i did them was to get my damage,shield,void drop,void power modules somewhere between lvl 3-5 of my highest available tier. Then i picked a numer that reasonably achievable, and crafted number / craft time of each resource starting from T1 moving up. If that's not enough, either increase number by 10 and do another round or upgrade damage and shield mods higher
warp upgrades and base 3 are going to be huge bonuses
the diminishing returns on higher products is pretty harsh. make them until you stop getting more "fast"
items provide power based on their own base crafting time, but they cost more than that because you still have the crafting time of all of their prerequisites
is syth speed 22 enough for tier 1 challange? cuz i dont have most of the tier 2 materials maxxed yet just alloy.. xd

v device - red/synth shard 3, orange/flex shard 3, pink/power shard 3, blue/battle shard 4
reactor - boost synth speed 1
warp upgrades - materials improvement (leftwards) 3/4, synth improvement (then downwards) 3/10
synth speed 37.45 (maybe half this? I'm looking at the results after finishing the challenge)
is sector 17c a trap route for synth purity 2? I'm getting destroyed at the boss

My synth purity challenge just flashed me green but I am unsure if I can actually do it since I have my synth core maxed before the notification hit. Does the notification just read your current stat or does it consider that you have a synth core and subtract that? I have a synth power of 4.81e22 but don't know how to calculate what it is without the core
Okay I tested stuff, it seems like it was correct that I could do the synth challenge, without the core I went down to like 2 or 3e22
The in-game notification flashes green when you can 'easily enough' complete the challenge

What does "multiplier 30" means when I have +-76 crafted
I thought it's gonna count 30x "total crafted"
thats just the base one, theres a formula shown elsewhere for how it actually calcs
Does retrofiting equipment to 2.0 helps in this challenge?
I guess just with range for weapons right?

dont know if its useful for anyone but on synth 3 i was able to beat it with lvl 1, tier 5 modules with 1.5e8 mult, could probably get away with 1.3-1.4e8 (this has almost certainly been sent here before but im just posting my results for any newer peeps who dont wanna scroll through messages looking for it)
for strategy i pretty much literally only focused on modules and alloy, the rest of the materials dont really seem to matter if you have enough synth speed
