my guess is maintaining all the individual models is probably pretty expensive and time consuming. like every chat style likely has its own prompting, tuning, behaviour profile, testing requirements, bug surface, etc. so by getting rid of them it will allow them to focus more on the 2 that most people actually use.

I feel like roleplaying involves a lot more creativity. Maybe it depends on what people are doing with the AI, but I think it can engender a degree of self-development. Gaming, on the other hand—it doesn't matter how many marbles pacman eats, nothing will be achieved.

There are some games that I wouldn't say that about though, particularly the creative ones like minecraft. There are kids learning basic economic principles from that thing
