Multiple online articles state that some countries are planning to restrict ai chat bot apps/their websites to 18+ users only— if the apps do not obey by these laws, they are at risk of getting a fine. (eSafety commissioner, Uk laws, California laws.)
They did the update because of a law in their state. If they did not obey the law, they would’ve been deleted or face fines worth tens of millions.
they couldn't remove the age verification update no matter how many people wanted it. It's California law. If people want to make change they should be trying to appeal to California law makers.
Even if your gmail/email is 18+, you can still get flagged. They track your app activity, (what times you go on and off), and what apps you use.
If you do the face verification and it doesn’t process you’re an adult, you need an 18+ id that matches your selfie pic you did for the verification.

For the first 14 days, you are restricted to 1 hour chats with 24-18 hour rest periods per day.

After those 14 days are up, you are left to ‘read’ your chats, chats are archived for 6 months, they are NEVER deleted.

Once you reach 18, you can verify again and regain access to your chats/messaging rights.

IF you have verified as 18+, you will automatically gain access to chatting with no limits, which’s means you can use c.ai as usual. Duh.

That's basically what's happening right now. They're running a process in the background to guess whether or not someone is a minor based on their device activity and their acitivity on c.ai. From there, they kick suspected minors on adult accounts to a minor account, and then implement limits with the option to verify age to get full access to c.ai back

They originally increased filtering for all users across the board as well, but adults flipped their lids because it was anti-RP and anti-user. That's when they split adults and minors onto different models. They had a birthday prompt that unfortunately ran on the honor system.

Minors couldn't edit, they got 24 hour timeouts if they triggered the filter too many times, romance was banned (even hugging), and they lost access to a large amount of the bots on the platform.

Not too long ago they tried another filter that filtered any inappropriate messages, then completely removed every filtered message from the entire RP, hoo boy that pissed people off so bad that they removed it within the week.

And unfortunately their age guessing isn't always accurate so there are a groups of adults who got kicked off to minor accs even tho they're actually being truthful abt being an adult.

I only used that for descriptions of the character I was using/made, and to emphasize a word or a sentence. Do minors have a tendency to use those, while adults steer towards third person. When I used the app and tried the third person I didn’t like how it counted that as the character talking, so I switched to the asterisks because it worked better.

'AI Addiction' doesn't even have a medical definition yet, so comparing the percentages is scientifically impossible. You're likely looking at usage stats, but being a frequent user isn't the same as a clinical addiction.

Short form content is a MAJOR issue, and definitely more comparable to AI than video games, especially because many short form content sites use forms of AI to tailor to you, in order to keep you engaged and doom scrolling. Short form content has also been proven to reduce critical thinking skills and attention spans, and AI addiction has been found to do the same

That's a really good first step! If it helps at all, when I was dealing with really bad social anxiety, part of it was related to self-esteem. Idk if yours is, but giving myself confidence helped a lot. I also set a goal of complimenting one person a day, then two, and so on. Complimenting people gets you used to stepping out of your comfort zone, and can be great for working through social anxiety, as well as doing things to try to boost your own confidence!
