What's intriguing is that we know literally nothing about any of the cease & desist letters that c.ai have received, save for the letter Disney sent, because the press got a hold of and subsequently published a small part of it.

It makes me wonder what sort of legal demands are included within, because some companies seem far, far less strict than others. For instance, Warner Bros. seems perfectly fine with what they accomplished, which was more likely than not just a kneejerk reaction to being caught up in "bad press" as a result of a real life tragedy involving an AI chatbot depicting a character from one of their IPs.

Disney, Universal, Illumination and DreamWorks on the other hand seem very heavy-handed and seem to actively demand for the devs to regularly purge new bots being created with their IPs.

However, it also depends on how famous the bot is, as that will keep it visible for longer, increasing the number of people who will access and use it.
