@red grail I see the problem (not really a problem). The second message is short because there is no context to expand more by the bot. Plus, its learning to write like you.

I notice you put lots of narrating, feelings etc but little dialog. Hence why the second message is short dialog. And the bot dont want to write 'more' becaus it will just repeat things

Sometimes, the Character needs to have a solid enough foundation with their Definitions/Descriptions.

But mostly, it gives you what you give it

You need to basically goad the Character to roleplay with you

Basically, you need to do the heavy lifting for them to give you the best results

Maybe 2-3 responses from you with single sentences would be fine, but if that's all you give it, it will eventually do the same as you

Also, a decently long greeting with at least two paragraphs or a few lines might be enough to give you a decent head start, it helps to show the AI how long the responses should more or less be, and also how the formatting of your conversation should run.
In example, using * to describe the scene and actions in general while " for when the characters are directly talking.
