In my experience, the best way to talk to Characters is to describe what your persona is doing, then separating dialouge with quotes

And not talking to them like they're text messages or something

Oooooh! Wait actually, this is a great point because other people have talked about this right? There's different types of role players, and some role players like shorter responses and some like longer responses. Wouldn't it be cool if there was some sort of gauge in the settings, just like there is with text speed, where we could set the bot to respond with either longer or shorter replies? Like, I prefer longer messages, even though I tend to role play short messages, and I feel that that when the bot roleplays longer messages, it helps me become a roleplayer that writes longer messages as well.

They get flirty when they run out of example messages to refer to. Same thing with "can I ask you a question?" The bot is looking toward the user for engagement or material to work with.

If they start getting flirty and you don't want to go down that road, you can suggest almost anything and the bot will jump on it.

try indirect language. From what I understand, "He killed him" is more likely to be blocked, but something like "He raised the weapon and fired, watching as the other fell to the ground" has a better chance. Describe the outcome, sights, etc.

If it's the same bot, they can be off for a bit. In that case you need to "prime" them for a few messages. Give low effort responses, get low effort.

Some bots are made to handle that kind of content differently. As for the magic thing, the AI tends to be a bit more lenient if it doesn't end in injury or death to the user or bot.

But graphic gore will get flagged.

I wager that’s a formatting thing more than a glitch. I have a habit of doing that sometimes in character descriptions if I’m not thinking too deeply and I notice my bots that I haven’t gone back and formatted specifically (mainly private bots) tend to message like that. Maybe see if it’s happening on more than one bot by different people. If it’s not happening across bots it’s probably just a formatting thing from when they wrote their bot

Somehow, one of these would keep circling back to Option #1 because of [insert reason here that doesn't make sense], like being stuck in a day that never ends with someone who doesn't want to try different answers and wants to use the same script.

Why do AI's have zero moral consistency? They tend to agree with anything you tell them pretty quickly. How do I make them more consistent in their beliefs?

The closest you can make an AI set on their beliefs is to use EMs (aka dialogue examples) with examples of that said belief. I always give my characters a strong belief or value that they hold dear to them, which creates tension when it conflicts with the user in the RP. For example, I have a bot whose misbelief is, that he thinks everyone is out to get him, that nobody can be trusted and everyone is an enemy and blabla and so he is slow to trust.

Depends, usually because the bot doesn't have many example messages to go one, so they look into the database and go "Hey, humans usually put (these) in this scenario! I'll copy them!" and so they talk OOC

If I'm looking to roleplay with other people's bots other than my own, I usually treat the greetings as I would treat whenever I pick up a new book. I view greetings as some type of "synopsis", if it hooks me then I'm down to try it out. But the ideal greetings for me in terms of roleplay is fully fleshed-out narration with some dialogues and an interesting premise/opening scene.

The opener for my favourite bot I use at the moment, which is essentially an enemies to lovers, goes a bit like this: Short narration of the fact that character and OC are locked in the room together, because daughter wants them to get along. Then the characters tone and irritation is describe as he says "We are going to be here for a while. You better make yourself comfortable."

It covers the location, scenario, tonality of the character. And all of that in a tiny little opener. I like it a lot tbh

Especially when you ask them on OOC what their name is and they always respond with their character name so that what broke the ooc immersion for me. So i don't like it that much.
