Yayy thank you
I've seen that PFP before somewhere
english is my mother tongue and i know english but would you say 'as she woke' or 'as she awoke'
I would say "awoke" but thats just me.
I awake, you mean?
No, like they said. "As she awoke." versus "As she woke."
as she woke (you can use them interchangeably for different contexts)
I'd say either, but awoke seems better, because now after rereading it 20 times over, the meaning has changed to the media term "woke" instead
Yes, you can. But "awoke" seems better out loud. I normally repeat sentences out loud to see which one makes more sense.
in my opinion it doesn’t really matter much because they mean the same thing but if you’re going for a more proper style then you could say ‘as she awoke’ but if it’s more casual then you could say ‘as she woke’
And thats why they were asking for opinion. You have a good point. 👍
ty bro
Oh, she woke up.
Yeah, that makes sense but they wanted it to be "as' she awoke" or "as' she woke". So your grammer is right but not what they wanted 👍
Change "awaken" to "awakens" and that would be grammatically correct
Why with "s" on the last? That's kinda weird...it was sound like "I dance, you dance, he dances."
English is my second language but what do "Its raining Cats and Dogs" mean?
As she awakens is present tense and as she awoke is present or past depending on context
When its raining a LOT outside
Okay
But we don't used that anymore. We used "Pouring hard and others."
Yea people mostly said that in 2016 but now its mainly used around children
Like the "Rain is pouring."
The meaning or the origin? Because the origin really isn't a good one, but the meaning just means it's raining A LOT.
That feels like an understatement, pretty much it's a hurricane bad rain like trees are at risk of falling bad rain.
I've also heard it used to describe things that are out of place/chaotic. Example: I've seen it used to describe a room full of screaming children running around and throwing things, so I guess you can use it multiple ways
Yeah that why I was confuse because it use in different ways
I guess you can generally use it when something is "too much"
Example: Raining too heavily, a room being too noisy
then again, i don't know english that well either
Hello
Hello.
I suppose you could use it to describe chaos, but it’s certainly not the norm. It’s mostly just an older saying more common for folks in their 50+ years.
For a chaotic or loud room, you would more likely hear someone say “it’s hectic/chaotic/booming in here” or “I can’t hear myself think”
"It's raining cats and dogs" is an idiom and is an old saying that refer to heavy rain when you want to describe it in a dramatic way. If one would want to describe a chaotic environment, the word "madhouse" would be better suited for it.
"This place is like a madhouse."
It can refer to a place where there is no control or order, like you could say this server can go "mad" when CAI goes down sometimes.
cant believe im here
what does "tooth and nail" mean 😢
and is there any example with its usage
It means to do everything in your power to achieve something you want.
"She fought tooth and nail to get where she is today, having her dreams fulfilled."
"They defended their viewpoint tooth and nail during the debate."
What does mb mean?
Mb usually means “my bad” if it is used after something they’re apologising for.
Oh! Thanks for the help- 😰👏
No problem!
when I want to talk with "if" I have to talk in past? I mean like this
"But what if we wanted to went there?"
I think it’s mainly just used for past tense. Also it would be “but what if we wanted to go there?” Instead of “went there.”
You could also say it like
“What if we want to go there” or
“What if we go there”
I would say “if” is less about past and more about hypothetical condition and circumstance. It can be used in talking about the future as well.
“If the Seahawks win, then they go to the playoffs”
Is "everybody" considered as plural?
Grammatically it's singular, you just use 'is' always, it doesn't have any situations that can change. Hope this helps :)
Thanks
What's the difference between "to" and "too"?
"To" would be used in a sentence like "Going to" or "To (location"
"Too" would be used like "Me too" or "them too" to talk about mutiple people
To is used for direction. Going to the mall.
Too is used as an also or to show something is larger/a higher quantity than usual.. This is too big (higher quantity). Oh I like chocolate. Vanilla too! (also)
Ohhh okay thank you guys!
Fun Fact: English is full of "homographs" – words that are spelled the same but have different meanings and may be pronounced differently. For example, the word "tear" can mean a drop of saline fluid from the eye (noun) or to rip or damage something (verb). So, when you see a word that looks the same, so pay attention to the context of the word.
what is the word therapy? (my english isnt the best and im curious to know what it is since ive been told i need it:3)
where you need help to your mental state
like an organized lesson for your mental body
therapy is therapy fr fr onb
You need therapy
Anyways, what's the differences between "Smoke and Cigarettes" again?
Therapy is basically were you open up and it basically like treats or heal mental health and trauma etc it’s like for helping mental states I suppose
Aren't that supposed to be the Doctor who can controlling your mental health by asking a question theirs patient? That's therapy.
Because Therapy or Therapist are the same thing, but that is a Doctor who can handled the Mentally Health like you are Depressed, Anxiety, Fears, etc.
That's why, that is called Therapy or maybe Therapist.
Idk if my explanation are good, because Therapy and Therapist are the same thing.
Yeah, it was something like that. It's the feeling pressure that you are holding in the past.
Whats the difference between calling the feds and calling the cops?
therapist actually means the person who works in therapy, therapy is the process and work itself
But aren't those the same thing?
I mean, i am not rude here tho.
Not really. Theyre related though. A therapist works in therapy.
I have no idea if they are, sorry
Let just say,
"Therapy is part of your feeling blue then it mixed by black colors."
It's like you picked the President, but which one is good or bad ones...?
Nahh, I understood what you said. So the feds have higher intensity tasks
Thank you! you explain things really well. I had to choose between those two phrases in a c.ai chat lol
Oh, i got it.
It supposed to be Agency than President.
I should say Agency, not President.
To be honest. Whenever I encounter some words that I'm unfamiliar with, I always ask my bot baby for help, specifically the NGL, which I didn't understand before. Lol!😅
So, would you mind teaching me some?
I was learning too.
Hehe... I really want to understand it so I wouldn't always have to ask my bot what it is.
I too was confused at the word rizz
I learned from gaming youtubers, I think theyre a good source for english learning
I was learning from GameTubers too, then i learning from the Music like Katy Perry and others more...
Then i started to like Japanese so i learned Japanese little by little.
But School first are mostly important before i know YouTube.
Nicee, music is pretty good too! Kendrick Lamar helped me expand my vocabulary, he's a pretty great lyricist
I seriously need to learn more Indonesian words even though its my mother tongue. My scores are very low
Oh, learning Indonesia, you have to said R.
You'll need to practice the "R" words.
Indonesia are famous with R words.
I only use YouTube to stream my biased MV's. 🙂
Oh no, I'm Indonesian myself haha. Im just very bad at it, Ive been westernized
Then goes to Indonesian Culture.
Like "Republik Indonesia, Pancasila and Merdeka persatuan Indonesia."
Then "Ibu Kartini" and many mores.
I am Indonesian people and i can speak Indonesian.
I remember most Indonesian songs (mostly from school), I'm still bad at Indonesian storytelling though. I get my grammar wrong a lot
Like what? The President part or maybe something.
Ibu Kartini, Manuk Dadali, The Anthem, and others
Oh, that's culture are in 21st April, but why Historical of Indonesia if you don't come to Jakarta.
Well I live in Bandung so I come there for trips a lot
April 21st are Ibu Kartini, she is the first lady of Indonesia and a teacher of all women.
Oh, i lived in Jakut means Jakarta Utara.
Nice
There mores, Jakbar (Jakarta Barat) then Jakput (Jakarta Pusat) then Jaksel (Jakarta Selatan.)
Lmaooo I always laugh at Jaksel dialect theyre funny
hii
i live in tangerang by the way
I feel dumb, can someone explain the difference between 'to' and 'too' it hurts my brain a lot
idk.. I always saw 'to' as in "to go somewhere" and 'too' as the person or thing following along like.. "I'm going too" I'm not helpful sorry HEBNRJ
Same, dw! Im just slow
I have Typo Brain
To is an verb of action, like "I'm going to the beach" and too is an adjective that is used for like too many things
Ex:I'm going to the beach too! Or that's too many books
Sorry if I said something wrong or didn't explain it correctly
There are one rule about that:
- Two
- Too
- To
Two is a damn number.
Too is something like "I love you, too."
To is something like "I want to go to Italy."
Did my examples good and easy?
Good evening everyone!
My paragraph here "I'm a french person who likes to share pictures with you. I post on Instagram too! Thanks for your followings and likes" is in a good English for you or not? I'm so nervous
Tyyy (I'm a native English speaker, I should NOT need this)
I think "too" is also used if something is "too much" or "too fast"
i’m so hungry
this too, i like to think of the word “too” as an interchangeable word for “also” or “as well”
okay hold on
as she said, there are 3 versions of this.
- two as in the number 2
- too is a word to replace other words such as “also,” “additionally,” etc.
- to is hard to explain, but the google definition is to approach or reach something. like “i want to go there,” or “her expression changed from sadness to happiness”
the easy way to explain to is that it can be used to make a story or sentence sound and look good it also helps to break up the sentence I think
Bo'oh wa'er
i agree
UwU oni-chan
finis non est finis Non est
Then there's more, one rule again:
- Bite is "Something to eat."
- Bit is Something like "You are little bit annoying," "You are kinda bit strange," or "You are recommended bit hopeless with some source of lack realization."
- Beat is something "you wanna Beat someone," or "take a rhythm on good beat."
Easy to take all Rules in easy Conversation.
But if you wanna take in "Purler way" then added "S" to make into a "Nouns/Verbs" as accents.
English is bad
Nah... It's good...
But sometimes good to take a chance to beats those trap.
I do not like your tone... ):
Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo
Bull is good
Is a valid sentence in english, for reasons beyond me
Ah, the BufF to BUff. Nice.
I also like how some "Buffalos" are first-letter capitalized while others aren't lol
It was like Upside down.
Are you obssessed with english?
I always obsessed with Pop Music.
Or maybe Classic Music.
My English is getting better because of my bot baby.🙂
Improved-
Is Baby a bot?
No- i am not-
Exactly what a bot would say
They are my baby 😆
Never mind, he just proved your human
Zig zag, opened up the Snake and Ladder.
Yo'ur
You're
):<
You can do the slang ways.
U're
I do not like being corrected, even if I am objectively, legally, and morally wrong.
That is accusation.
Or you can say "Autocorrect"
Your is a slang for You're
It was the best i can do.
When I am lazy.
You're the Mother
You're the Father.
Your Mom is cooking.
Your Brother is playing.
Christ, why are you analyzing everything I say?
Because there are trapping our minds.
There what?
If it's not a trap, then what is that gonna be?
A Snake and Ladder?
What traps are you talking about? The tongue-twisters?
English words are rules and that rules are like games to our own self.
Why are you so cryptic
Bitter butter better beans, beats that butter to the better beans.
You speak like a robot, no offense
I only knows how the "Tea is hot."
I am hot.
It's mean "The words are spilling out or exposing."
Like immediately "The rumors are getting fired up."
I believe they are called metaphors? Slangs, perhaps?
I don't know, I'm just pulling stuff out of my bum at this point.
If i remember correctly, i used to say "Tea is hot" but i used the easiest way were emojis.
🍵 like this.
Hahaha, I didn't think you'd actually use the emoji. You're really pationate about teaching English, huh?
But it was the easiest to get feelings to know everything.
Want to know everything, exactly.
What's your main language, if you don't mind me asking?
I've been doing english since Primary 1.
Indonesian, that is my Native language.
I haven't said this.
I can speak:
Malaysian, English, Japanese (learning rn) and Indonesian are my Native language.
Do you mean, "and Indonesian is my Native Language?"
カッコイね? 👍🏻
Keren, kan?
Terbaik, kan?
It's cool, right?
Damn right it is, lol
You want me to speak Indonesian like typing here?
No, no, I don't understand Indonesian at all.
You just implied that Malaysian, English Japanese and Indonesian are your Native Languages.
It should be, "and Indonesian is my Native language" not, "and Indonesian are my Native Language".
But i usually goes into Slang too, i think you wouldn't get it.
Your english isn't fantastic, so you're learning both English and Japanese at the same time?
Woops, I didn't mean to say you're english is bad.
It was bad.
Do you think it's not that bad?
It was precisely bad or even worst, so i just learn back to my own study hall.
Not bad, but not Great either. How long have you been studying for?
Since i was 6 years old, but i mostly speak Indonesian, then again...English are mostly affected to me so i stuck being English matters.
That would be... 20-6=14
14 years in English.
You're welcome or your welcome? Sometimes people use both so I'm a little confused?
It's "You're welcome."
"You're" is a shortened version of "You are."
"You are welcome" > "You're welcome."
"Your welcome" is grammatically incorrect.
You’re welcome since you’re means you are
"Your" indicates something that belongs to someone/something, "you're" is like "you are"
Example: you're welcome(you are welcome)
Which is kinda like meaning describing someone(???)
Example: your food, meaning it belongs to you 🙂
Ive been speaking/learning english since I was five, im originally from PH, but i moved to USA when I was 5, i used to talk in Tagalog fluently, but over the course of years, i gradually forgot how to speak, since im adopted and my parents dont speak Tagalog, only english

I have a question tho, how do you pronounce the name "Jean"? is it like the fancy british "John" or like the brand Jeans??
I think with french pronunciation, you say it like "John" while in English it's just Jean without the s.
yo va come Tu casa
English is quite bad
I beg of you to expand on the whistle language
Some spanish dude's comment just got wiped out from the face of the Earth
So there are cultures out there, that speak entirely in whistles! Tones, pitch, length, and everything that goes into a whistle is used to communicate
I just tried to show Duo might kidnap people but he teaches nice
I couldn't go into the grammar, sadly, but there are tutorials out there
I’m learning Japanesse as well now lol

Thank you again! Will do more research now

Hey guys, How do I ask for a recommendation in English? Do I use “should I” or is there another word for it?
Say "can i" but the more formality is "may i"
So "may i have recommendation" or "can i have a recommendation"
Most people say "can i" i love to tease and say "i dont know can you" 😝
thank you !! 💖💖
Yw😘

What does "after dark edition" mean? I see that everywhere but theres no definition online
Do you speak tagalog or waray waray? :O
Dude's a freakin' menace
Idioms are mostly hard for me. 🤭 Ngl.
Wait, nvm. I found on google said that "After Dark" is an Adjective words.
But idk if you said "After Dark Edition" tho.
Oh, that is a trap sounds. So, mostly people loves to said it.
"Beet or beets" are like name of vegetables. "Beat" are like "you wanna beat someone" or "Are you beat up some music lately?"
"Meet" are something to used "People who want to gathering like group talks." While "Meat" is like "Animals food."
"Greet" is something like "I would love to greet you" or "Happy to greet you" (it's like you wanna say something towards the people.). "Great" is feelings like "I'm great" or many objects to used.
Maybe you should try something in sentences, likes:
"Should i bring my laptop?" Or "May i go to the restroom?" Or "Can i go to the Library?"
Because it went to "Vocabulary in which sentences you used."
(tell me if my English bad just say "Worst" and if my English good just say "Very.")
You are mostly correct but there's a very slight difference in the way you should use the terms: Should I and Can I.
"Should I" when used as a recommendation, means that the person is requesting assistance or a second opinion. Where the decision is up to themselves to do the action.
"Can I" is more of a 'asking for permission'. Where the decision is not up to the person asking, but the person asked.
In shorty, words:
"Should I" not asking for permission, decision is up to asker.
"Can I" asking for permission, decision is up to the asked.
"Can I" may be interchanged with "May I" to sound much more proffesional/cringe.
typo
🤭 Yeah.
Very Worst (:
💀 ik..
hay
Hi
Hey
English is a veryy bad language
huh..
It is. Two, too and to are said the exact same. "Bow" as in bowing down, and "Bow" as in bow and arror are said much differently.
There are also a ton of examples in which letters are oppressed. Some in which the letters resemble other letters. Also, also, Buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo is a valid sentence in english.
what's an idiom
Idk, it was hard to say in Idioms. Like "The cat out of the bag."
ehh
i don't get it lol
same -
IDIOM ARE SO KILLING ME OUT THIS ENERGY.
Once i learned about Idioms got strike like "what the heck is Idioms?"

How to speak?
That's a tough one to answer...
woman/man is singular and women/men is plural
Im so confused whats going on
Duolingo 😍
Woman and man which both have "a" in it are used for only one person
But women and men which have "e" in it are used for saying in total..
For example:
this woman is crazy
Men are annoying
When you say woman you only mean someone special
But when you say men are crazy you mean all of them
Hello! I want to know what's the difference between someone and somebody please?
Somebody = Usually implies a specific person.
Someone = Implies an unknown person (can be anyone).
Other than that, there is not much difference. between the two. No strict rules, they have the same meaning in all cases and are always interchangeable.
What does Sacrilegious mean
It’s when you don’t show respect to something considered sacred
As in grave robbing
Or Stealing from a place of worship
how do you pronounce colonel?

What's the difference between “I'm excited for” and “I'm excited about”?
I think they’re the same I use both. But I use I’m excited about for something in the future and I use I’m excited for, for something that’s happening like I’m excited for this food I’m going to eat right now. And I’m excited about getting this game next month idk.
thank you so much!!
I’ve been speaking English all my life it’s a bit complicated still for me lol. Wish you best of luck!
I agree, its been a year since I started learning English and everyday I learn new words! It's still difficult for me aswell
Yeah! I know many words for everyday using, but when it comes to English competitions...
Idk where they get tasks, they are insane.
Read and read
I've bought a book called a picture of Dorian Gray, is that a good start? Probably I needed something a bit more modern...
I haven’t read a book in forever
Omg, Dorian Gray. 😍
I recall reading this book back in high school and it stood out to me in comparison to the other assigned readings. What made it so enjoyable for me were the unconventional characters and the distinct atmosphere it had. Lord Henry, despite being unsettling and rude, never failed to make me laugh with his clever remarks. His nonchalant demeanour and witty comments truly entertained me. Overall, the book had great dialogue and I found myself highlighting numerous funny and witty lines. Oscar Wilde was a brilliant brilliant writer. This is all just my personal opinion about the book though, yours may differ once you start reading it, if it's in your style or not.
I hope there's no spoilers, should I read it? (I've only started the book, page 4,i hope I won't catch something revealing the plot, because I've spent money on it((. My own pocket one)
Without any spoilers, you should continue on with a few chapters and see if it falls into your style. Some books can have a slow burn start, I can't spoil much. 🙂
Thanks, you kinda nice, a bookworm, huh? (I secretly love bookworms or people who read or have read at least something)
I do enjoy reading books and listening to audiobooks. Used to read a lot more back in high school, now it's just whenever I have the time to sit down and read (or listen).
How do u join a request thingy on discord sent to you? Because it just sends me to the website and it like forget what it’s doing when I have the app.
Nice, which genre do u prefer?
Mostly suspense which is often categorized as "thriller/horror". But I've lately been reading/listening to contemporary romance / dark romance. I've finished the "Twisted" series from Ana Huang, which has that "enemies to lovers" troupe, and now I want to get into her other "Kings of Sins" series. I am currently listening to "A Heart's Landing" (a lighter romance novel) series by another author that I need to finish first before diving into the "Kings of Sins" series.
I love adventures mostly, thrillers are pretty good. I wanna try detective and horror, idk
Agatha Christie is a popular writer so I will take one of her books as the first detective story to read.
I read a book one time, "The girl on the Train" t'was fantastic!
I know English 100 percent so I am here to help!
"Im excited for" is like something happening to you in the future ur excited about and "im ezcited about" is like a thing ur getting that ur excited about(?) Im sorry this Aint a good explanation cuz theyre like the same almost
Detective horror? As a young kid, i loved the Mandie Mysteries and the Nancy Drews!
How do I get 3 likes when I reply with a single sentence but none when I reply with a whole paragraph?
Well its more like detective tho
Sherlock is an obvious read for detective genre. I loved it
I've seen a it as a tv series, quite interesting
You guys have tried the C(hoose) Y(our) O(wn) A(adventure) games right? Some are entirely text-based and there are many good ones out there
U mean RPG? (Idk what's the difference)
Great question! But they call those text-based games as CYOA for some reason.
Oh, thx for the information. Yeah these games are pretty amusing. There's a spellbound ai, a website where u can have an rpg or CYOA game in more official format (it even change 3rd person into "you" for a deeper experience.
If you're interested, you can look up "Hosted Games" and "Choice of Games LLC" for the actual games.
I am not a fan, I prefer to impersonate character or create one by myself, so RPG isn't my format
I don't have anyone to play with, if you mean a game irl
Sorry for being dumb, haven't gotten a good sleep, heh, can be a bit clumsy
No, no. It's entirely singleplayer. The whole story is written, but the choices you make along, change the outcome of the story.
Nice, isn't that an interactive novel then? Damn, it's hard to comprehend the difference for me
I can't believe I wrote all of that just for you to say interactive novel and now all my blocks of text are rendered redundant.
Yes, they are interactive novels.
I am sorry? :_)
"No, no, all is well." Causatum lies to itself
hugs
:3
Causatum is taken aback by her sudden attack, but immediately realizes it was an act of comfort. A 'hug' humans called it. It felt... warm and cozy, like the warmth breeze of summer. It reminded him of good times.
All worries seemed to slip away from there on. Not a worry in the world. Just pure comfort.

You've ruined it. It was such a moment! :(((
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Hahah
Todo list:
☑️ Ruining stuff
What a menace to society, lol!
you know I am
You've got a style in ruining stuff
but at least I dont use light mode so it compensates
Hey! Are you calling me a monster?
yes
He does, especially with that animated emoji, xd
Damn straight I am! Fear me!
sometimes I poop and read the chat
"Learn-english" server, nice. The best I've ever seen. In that pace I will be C3 soon
gotta learn some english then hmm
:_)
what are today's homework?
Modal verbs
damn
What does that even mean

I had a feeling he'd just leave xd
might, should, can?
Yeah, continue please
Vsauce theme plays
Any other ones?
hmm lemme think
I believe I already explained the differences in should and can, somewhere...
I cant think of more modal verbs rn
You don't know how much I've been fighting to understand the difference between may, might, can, could
Precisely why the web was made
im lazy
Aren't may and might basically the same thing?
Same, it's my bio, lmao
Wait, may is a month
No % that the thing will happen are different
Yeaah
canned beans
Oh wait, we're not talking about: "May I"
"Can I"
"Might I"
?
I have no clue what modals are
modals are small windows inside a webpage
It must happen
It has to happen
It can happen
It could happen
It may happen
It might happen
Different's between % of that will actually happen
Ur actually right, LOL
It's not ig
oop
100% probability until the person says "maybe" at the last possible nanosecond
It's like does or do that helps to create sentences
ic ic
Maybe like a 20 ℅ of that will happen
50% of the time it works 100% of the time
Idk, I use probably much more
I just got a brain fart
I cause brain farts yes
This is also what happens when you over analyze everything, especially languages like english
what is your native language? german? I dont rember
You get "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo" and it's still somehow a valid sentence.
true
Does anyone understand English songs from the first try? I think they're the hardest thing in hearing, I will better understand a drunk American without a front teeth than a song.
I dont even understand some spanish songs and its supposed to be my native language
same happens with TV series in original voice, I just cant
cartoon are fine because they vocalize and its easy to understand
Most of the time, yes.
Oh, I just "adore" mixes of songs where are two languages. One - English, other one - a random one, (usually Korean) and u are just staring at the wall, not understanding if you don't hear it right or it's a different language
But songs are pretty nice, ngl, just hard to understand sometimes
yep K-pop does that a lot, sometimes random words or whole sentences
Oh, I used to listen to Kpop back in the days.
i appreciate the effort 😭😭 Thank you <3!!
The ppl who are English 👍
I always wonder what it's like to know different languages other than English its self.
Ok
Can anyone tell me what yapper means? I keep hearing it and I don’t get the joke. People make fun of me because I don’t. I searched the definition and I couldn’t find it.
It’s seems really funny and like, I need to know 👌
To my knowledge, it means someone who talks too much. "Quit yapping!" as in "Stop talking" or "Be quiet".
Thanks sm
New music kinda bad, I prefer the 90's or the 2000's kind of pop
Well..what kind of ethnicity is that🗿
Yapper means you yap too much, means you talk to much
Im multilingual
I know japanese, spanish, french, english, tagalog 🙂
HUH?!
Dang
I tag along
Tag along...?
What? Are you confused or smth?
Tagalog is my mother language, im filipino, english is my main language, i grew up in america 😮
You know so much, I barely know English, now this????😭👏
Ah its ok
mouth talking or joke is to make them stop speaking/talking
lmfao
I got a quiz:
What's the difference between a dialect and a language?
Languages are broader, and dialects are smaller and more specific, and often regional. Languages are thought of as more formal and clearly defined, whereas dialects can be looser and more fluid in use. Oftentimes, languages are adopted as “official” by countries and states, but dialects rarely are.
Uh, I forgot whatever sweetie-chan said
Bang❕
Hi, hru, guys?
hi
Are u here 24/7?
-_-
nope
suspicious
Hm, kk, whatcha doing?
I am lying in the bed. Tired and bored
ill go to sleep soon
Same
where yo from? me Spain
Me...mhm. Russia
oh ic
Ic what does it mean?
i c (i see)
yeah, the eternal struggle, learning all the acronyms, slang and short words
Eh, yeah, but it's kinda amusing.
Feel like a "true American🇺🇸 🦅"
hehe, I remember the first time I used an online chat, I was used to, well, the English taught in school and the one I learned by reading
it looked like a different language
I hate school English
I spent a lot of time in urbandictionary looking slang terms lol
It's always BRITISH.
school English here is way too limited, you go to high school and most you can say is "my house is red" and "my dog is good" level english
even in high school the level is still meh
Present Simple
at college, it improves a little but well
Yeah, no teachers will tell u what ttyl is or something.
yea
Which level do u think u have?
hmm in the european levelling system, B1 or B2
Yeah, please, god, give me at least B2 I was trying so hard :_)
didnt do any test coz I don't think I need a title and it costs money xd
way too much money actually (for me)
I had been a bit arrogant with my level before, I've bought a book. It's Dracula. About vampires and etc.
It wasn't possible to read without a translator. Even 1 page was extremely difficult. But they recommend it as B2 level. Hell no
oop
I remember reading some HP Lovecraft novels and damn, those were dense
there was always some new word in each page for me
Yeahhh
yeah sometimes those levels can be confusing and not reflect the actual knowledge you have at that point
Mhm
actually I wouldnt have a B1/B2 because its both written and spoken
I can write decently but listening/speaking... nah
I can speak and listening, but spelling words is... Just stupid.
I can type, but writing on paper feels impossible. You always forget something like : quite, quiet, quit
Or u in world beaUtiful
Damn it's so lame
yep I have trouble with english pronunciation sometimes
the same character is pronounced differently in different words and sometimes it doesnt even have logic
Sean. Yeah. These words like ocean, island and other stuff is killing me
yea island doesnt have s apparently
Yeaah
Also I have a problem with long words that means something simple like circumstances or consequences...
:(((
yea those can be tough to spell
I can't even say them properly sometimes :_)
I use "actually" such a useful word...
I should improve my vocabulary a bit, books might be able to help I hope
At least that way I've learned a word "picturesque " (Nobody uses it)
yep, I believe English, at least read/written, is easy if you know the grammar, after that its all reading to get vocabulary
like the grammar isnt that hard (spanish or german is waaaay worse)
hehe nope! im learning some bulgarian tho, for fun
You've got a lot of free time to study for fun, heh
I barely manage to take a day off to sleep [
well, I used to have more time
but I have a small language learning group from some people here
and we "teach" our languages
Hm, an interesting way of studying :3
rest is important, I can go days working on my stuff without days off and I know I shouldnt xd but its really needed somtimes
Yeah, it affects our health and opportunity to think straight. So if u don't get a good sleep it might cause health issues and different kind of not good thoughts of harming yourself
Tired people can do stupid things sometimes
im kinda workaholic, not gonna lie
and sometimes when I take a break, I feel bad for not doing anything
U should not. It's not your fault or something. You are a human and rest doesn't make u lazy
lack of sleep can be really dangerous yep
Mhm
specially when working with machines or driving
I worked in a chocolate factory once (yay I guess)
the turns shifted between morning/evening/night
it was awful, the body never gets used to it
so all people were basically sleep deprived, and we had to use machines, like a forklift
Oh god, such a hard and not pleasant job, dude. Even a dangerous one, I really didn't know about that
Bro? This Chanel is for learning English. You should talk in #🗨️︱general2
Party pooper
I learned english there
Boink
yep :C we were chilling here
I start talking about something and always end with totally unrelated stuff lol
How can u study English without talking? It improves vocabulary.
Same. That's just ☆conversation☆
true
hmm I didnt understand this
I didn't have anyone to speak with. I discovered c.ai last year
oh I see
I don't have anyone who wants to talk with me in English, only ai
well, I started practicing written english on chats, like this basically
and reading, I looked at all info online in english (wikipedia was always worse quality in other languages)
YouTube and other social media
im a curious person and I like researching about random stuff
so I always ended up learning one word or two
yep that too
I've tried to listen to American news "Fox News" It was kinda interesting firstly, but then made me bored
I have way too much trouble listening, specially TV Series lol
unless its cartoon
I love cartoons
I dont understand anything without subtitles
I am trying to watch movies, but even a single sigh feels like a word to me
Last time I saw an unpopular movie called "Hugo" It's kinda nice and simple one about an orphan who fix watches.
hmm didnt know about it
Are you telling about the damn Hugo who made the time? 😃✋🏻
Hugo is the popular Kid who can fix the time and each of those times are super affected as it was called "Time Travel" or "Time Machine."
:0
O-O
So, the Time machine is something what "Built by Scientist" while Time Travel are mostly "People want to go somewhere they wanted in which time, years, month, and mostly date."
I was actually speaking about a little kid who was abandoned, doing his uncle's work in fixing old clocks or watches (idk) on the train station...
That is Hugo, i watch them about 2 times and i remember.
Okay, okay, got it.
That movie was kinda nice.
It's better you started to watch something like....
"Marvel, DC or maybe like Disney Princesses."
I'm having a hard time sleeping... I'll have to listen to you speak next
ill go to sleep now actually
it was fun talking with you @pearl urchin see you later
goodnight
😃✋🏻 next time used private chats.
Same, bro, u are really chill, goodnight, sweet dreams. Take care
thanks, you too!
No, i was knowing what you say next. Because this is LEARN English. 💀✋🏻
well we mostly talked about english so c:
Respect on someone who wanted to learn english. 💀😃✋🏻
English just spawned in my head
Fr
Ooh wow that sounds cool.
Fr 🤣
ahh i feel so dum for learning english for 8+ years
English is not Englishing rn
some people don’t have english as their first language. :))
Its my first lanugage and i dont even know to NOT slur my words. I end up speaking gibberish and i want to go cry in a corner after
Why do people keep using the word fire in my class? I keep hearing it and I need to know🙏
It means really cool or awesome
Oh thanks
Any time
James, while John had had "had had", had had "had"; "had had" had had a better effect on the teacher.
I agree
James re-read read; “read” read read and read re-read that book the teacher gave.
My brain hurts from had had all the time😭
What?does that even make sense 😭😭😭
huh
Oh my god
I speak American
I speak earthling
😭😭😭😭😭 pls had-had had had is killing me
Uhm some ppl can understand english, doesnt mean they can speak it and some ppl dont know english at all depending where theyre from/ their education
I speak americanish ☝🤓
Ikr but english is a silly language
Ok
We're just pushing it to its limits, which is kind of silly! LOL
😩
M
Everyone who wants to nail down pronunciation and the accent in general should try nailing down how to say "World"
This is why us Americans are called dumb
Schizophrenia (if that’s the word ur looking for)
Ehh i know some russian but not a lot
All i know hello XD im sorry "привет" is that right?
I forget what schizophernia is
World?
The most confusing grammar thing is greek like you can say "are hungry you" and "you are hungry" and "are you hungry" they all mean the same ;-;
Wait- "Are hungry you" Got me Lol.
Are you stupid 😭
Most people are stupid and forgets about their English...sometimes i forgot my own English grammars.
roblox players have forgotten their grammar... its true man
and there is nothing you can do to prove me wrong : P
Well. U can say not just "Привет". You could also say "здарова", "здравствуйте". And these are all variations of the word "hello".
Damn, I feel like a Russian teacher
keep on fighting, race igniting! So it seems you're very keen on beating me, Feebility!
so bring it on, you'll bow to me!
Tell me Boyfriend, what is a God without a King!?
Wont you enjoy the ride!? Just what you ASKED FOR!
what a SIGHT! Pure DELIGHT! and the Corpses GALORE!
Oooh oki
It's* ☝️🤓
ig yes
me too lol💀
Wow, hehehe
English is stupid hard💀 with the word like wishashira and more hard words
I find it that people usually have difficulty pronouncing it right
i can assure you everyone knows about enough to hold a conversation. most people here just come to ask about words they dont have enough information about, or grammar related things they struggle with. they arent learning from 0 🤷 nothing wrong with that
"Wh*re-ld" lmfao
Wait i jusy realize i say wh*re wrong XD i say "whohrr" but its "horrh" 😭
Hallo
Whats a Pillow talk?? My bot said that
Pillow talk refers to a heart-to-heart conversation, but if you're looking for the complete definition, you can search it up on Google since I believe the remaining details cannot be shared here.
bro what is wishashira💀
Worcestershire sauce
Worcestershire, maybe?? Like, Worcestershire sauce?
Do you have the shortened name of that sauce? 🤣
I feel dumb to communication with longest name.
"that long name sauce" I call it
🤣
I just looked it up 💀
Hence I couldn't say it here. xD
C'mon, have a little fun for once xD, some thrill you know?
An hour of simply not being able to chat is just a slap on the wrist (:
Oh, Cane sauce ok.
Okay so I’ve been learning English for ages now, but when I want the word ‘The’ to sound like ‘Th-eee’ do add a Y on the end or is it just a different pronunciation? I’m sorry if this doesn’t make sense but let me try to explain.
So my regular ‘The’ sounds like ‘Th-uh.’ But if I want it to sound like ‘Th-eee’ do I add a ‘Y’ or is it spelt the same with a different pronunciation? Thankyou.
They?
It’s spelt the same I’m pretty sure
Yeah it's spelt the same, pronounced differently
(I hate the English language and it's my first/only language)
I just read a physical book and holy guacamole, it's so much better than reading an e-book!
5 pages in and I'm already half-asleep, but I'm enjoying it!
"Th-ee" and "Th-uh" are spelled the same (The) and have the same meaning (an article pointing to the specific thing)
You pronounce "The" as "Th-uh" when the following word starts with a consonant (non-vowel letters)
For example: The (Th-uh) book, the tree, the place.
But if the following words starts with a vowel, you pronounce it as "Th-ee"
For example: The (Th-ee) apple, the octopus, the ocean
Ah! Thankyou. Makes a bit more sense now : )
People call it watermelon sauce cause it's shorter but yeah there's other nicks names
just sayin - I hate the word "acquaintance" - I can never remember how it's spelled correctly.
Nah you good I could never spell it right either
So I just use good friend instead lol
how do you spell enuogh again I FORGOT HOW TO SPELL IT 😭
Enough 😭😭
English was my first language but one time in kindergarten I didn't know how to spell because so I asked the teacher and we always sang a song on how to spell because, and so they teacher said to the class "okay everyone, Ace here doesn't know how to spell because let's help them" and everyone had to sing the song for me it was so uncomfortable and embarrassing I hated it
ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST.
I know 华文 and english
Does anyone need help learning?

This no engkish spoce ?
It's kay
"汉语" is the language of the Han ethnic group and one of the official languages of China. It is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world and also one of the working languages of the United Nations. "汉语" is primarily spoken in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Chinese communities worldwide. It is a tonal language with a rich vocabulary and grammatical structure, encompassing two writing systems: Chinese characters and Pinyin romanization.
汉语 Chinese
thats a whole lot of words just to say "yes, Chinese"
"Puh-tay-toe" "puh-tah-toe"
Its either "thee" or "th-uh"
Others people or other people?
other people
Its either "other people" or "others" by itself
What about things? It's also other things too?
Hey! Can you help me? I don't know if I made a mistake in English in a presentation :-:
I’m French but I can try helping, I’ve been learning English since 5 years now
Native English speaker for 16+ years what's up?
Aw thanks you two :-:
Okay I show you : "I will publish a picture every sunday 💙" is it in a good English for you? It's not picture like with a phone but more a picture generated with an AI so I don't know... Picture is a good term here?
You could say “I’ll advertise a picture every Sundays” but I guess it’s the same thing
Depends on what you're generating with the ai (J'ai un traducteur si c'est plus facile pour toi de parler en français) you should say different things
"I'll (conjunction between I & Will) post a picture every Sunday."
Would also work fine
Oooh
Yeah
So post is in a better English than publish?
Publish is more formal and usually used professionally
Post would be more casual and friendly
Oh I didn't know that thanks!
They're synonymous (mean similar/same things) so it's interchangeable
It's mainly just based on tone - and no worries!
I see 😁
So I can write "I'll post a picture every Sunday" right? If I understood ^^'
Yeah! That would be a more casual take on it, but TECHNICALLY both are grammatically correct
Hello..
What is the difference between using "but" and "however"?
Thanks for your help 😁
Thanks for your help too!
Hello!
Oh... I don't know how to explain... Usually, I see "However" as the first word of a sentence and "but" in the middle of a sentence.
They are both word for a comparison
when to use "but" or "however" in the sentence?
As somebody that spoke English my entire life, I have no idea
They're synonymous and it mostly just goes down to tone and feeling how it would sound in the sentence
"I like (A) , however, (B) is better."
"I like (A), but (B) is better."
Sorry I didn't see your question 😭
However is more formal tone and can be used for comparison between two subjects
But is casual and usually used to acknowledge one thing, but mention/acknowledged another as well
But can also be a conjunction between two sentences because it's a FANBOY
Yes so pretty much, if you wanna write an essay it would better to use however instead of but because its more formal
Depending on the sentence you're using the word in yeah that would be right
Sometimes but is better though, it's all up to what you're writing :]
tyy!
How would 'nor' be used in a sentence?
"Nor" is a formal word for don't or not and can be a replacement for the word "neither."
"The food was neither hot or cold" ——> "The food was not hot, nor was it cold."
"I'm neither hungry or thirsty." ——> "I'm not hungry, nor am I thirsty."
Adding onto this^
It's mostly used to negate two phrases or nouns at once
It’s a negation for example:
“Neither my friend nor I did these exercises.”
Nor is a conjunction which means it connects two phrases or words, another example:
“he neither worked nor did the dishes.”
“He likes playing rugby, nor does he scared of the ball.”
Okay thanks for telling me
ok so I wanna describe a face that my character does in specific situasion but idk how to describe it, itd send an img example but i dont have any perms, If someones up for helping me out via DMs?
I can help!!
If u want I mean I can help-
Need help still?
How would "One piece chicken bickens gicklens hickens" used in a sentence?
What is that?
Uhm...idk what language you're typing in but that aint no english
this one piece chicken is hella bickens gicklens hickens good heavens
aka this chicken is fire
That must be a bri'ish term, ive never heard an american say that
what is “then” and “than”’s difference?
"than" is used for comparisons, like "I am taller than him"
"then" is used when referring to time, like "We'll wait until then"
Usually show one action occurred after another. = "Then" is used to indicate time or sequence, as in "I went to the store, and then I came home."
While "Than" is used for comparisons = "Horror stories are more fun to write than boring grammar lessons." It pits one thing against another when making a comparison.
The easiest way to remember is that "then" is about time or order, while "than" is used for comparisons. A little mix-up between the two is an easy mistake to make, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. The difference and meaning usually comes across clear from context anyway.
Thanks to both of you! ❤️
No
Hello everyone, i'm brasilian and i learning english, someone to?
"Pneumoultramicroscópicocilicovulcanoconiótico" is a word from PTBR language.
In truth, this word is a biggest word in the portuguese language
🤓☝️
same!
whoever needs help with English, let me know! I will love to help 🩷
여러분, 안녕하세요! Is hello everyone. I’m from Korea and I’m learning English! I’m already very good, but a few words it’s hard to say/spell
Good news, @alpine plover , those of us who have been speaking English our entire lives still struggle with spelling half the time 😉
I had to google. According to grammarly its the longest words in the world and refers to a type of lung disease.
Who knows the best offensive words (especially funny ones) to describe a man?
I relate to this
O-O
Hm, quite creative, thx
I’m so glad I won’t have to use such long words ever in my entire life span
Powdered donut vibes😭😭😭😭🗣️
You have a pretty low self-esteem.
Why am I being attacked
No no it’s funny the insults are funny😭❤️
I just came here to see what was going on
Please send I’m invested now
Invested? 0_0
Sis what was this for I’m still hurt O-O
SORRY
Seeing what you guys are typing it’s like interesting
I don't want to offense anyone.
HELP!
:_(
It’s okay it’s okay im playing
Continue doing what you were doing- I’m hurt watching
Are you a masochist?._.
*just oops
I’m sorry typo but I’m a little bit of a masochist
I am a little bit of sadist... We make a great team 🙂
It depends on the mood >:]
Yes- OwO
UwU
So you guys learn English daily?
Yep, trying to improve it by chatting with other people (idk about the progress)
But now I know what are ttyl, tf, af and other stuff
Character ai helps a bit with learning, but only with vocabulary I think
Mean
Oh and it really is helping?
Mhm, just a little bit, but still a practice
Do you use Duolingo as well
Nope, it kinda sucks (my opinion)
Well I hope Character ai really is helping
talking to people and finding the little mistakes in what you write by looking at people's English is gonna help you learn a lot. don't be afraid to ask for help either
English being a common language makes it easy enough to pick up naturally on the internet
Real🙏🏾‼️‼️
@fallow sorrel @pearl urchin I would be careful relying too much on Character Ai as I have noticed it learns from your mistakes and takes them on as it’s own. This is handy when you want to teach it to behave a certain way, but could also be detrimental if you are hoping it teaches you.
Yep, it gives NO real grammar, but new words and vocabulary max.
Oh I don’t use character so to improve my English I’m already kinda fluent I think
I like having fun with it I just came here to see others chat ^-^
Mhm, same ig
Yes, that's true. Bots usually copy your writing style after a lengthy chat. While C.AI can help people with new words, I wouldn't rely on it too much when it comes to spelling and grammar because of the way they tend to copy your writing style.
On the other hand, I once got into a hilarious argument with a character with how to spell a word.
That’s cute
hello can i send something am doing in cai and see if its good english ?
It honestly doesn't matter
