that's probably a fair assessment, but I think that's more incidental. After all he adopted Sekiro, he never needed to raise him. When the Divine Heir came into play, however, that definitely drove a wrench into their relationship. I'd say he cares, though is envious of Wolf's immortality, and values the Divine Heir's rebirth more. He's old, he nearly died once, I'd say that fear of death is driving him to fight his own son, not because he hates Sekiro, but because he values the things Sekiro has more. Not only that, he genuinely believes compassion is a weakness for a Shinobi, any care he has, he pushes deep down.

He's not a good guy at all though, in any capacity

And the Goblins believe in many gods.

Each religion is generally supposed to comment on the horror of aspects of those theologies and a general societal concept, but the one I've struggled with is the concept of Goblins, and the horror of their Hierarchy.

I've been trying to find out how to express the religion of the Goblins in a way that makes clear that these believes almost literally drain people of their lives in devotion to these ever-fluid "Goddesses."
And I think I found out the way to do that. Make the gods literal beings, unlike other religions in this project, except they're biological parasites, and most groups of goblins worship parasite cults, and ancestors who were also infested with these parasites. The more infested, the more "divine," and the closer to godhood.

I would like to comment here, this does apply to a lot of mythology, a lot of it's there to explain stuff. The "explainer" myths are usually just what we typically consider myths, but there are event myths. Event myths usually describe an event that happened long ago, likely as a lesson kept through oral tradition. Some myths are also basically just processes. For example, the Norse believed that adding bones to metal imbued part of the soul into the blade, making it stronger. This worked, because when you do that, you actually make incredibly robust bone steel, which is more durable. It's really cool, I'd suggest looking into mythology more.
