You're welcome! Theres actually a system similar to railguns called coilguns too. One thing I forgot to mention is because the round makes contact with the copper rails, it deteriorates over time as its fired, so it does also come at a cost of maintenance problems that coilguns actually solve.

The F-117A Nighthawk, the United States' first true stealth aircraft and the world's first stealth aircraft. The geometric design was built to break apart and deflect them instead. To add to this, its stealth coating absorbed additional radar waves, further reducing its radar visibility significantly. To make it even more stealth, its bombs were hidden inside the belly with bomb bay doors that open and close to release said payload. However that does mean that when the bomb bays open that the jet becomes visible to radar until they close again. This is actually how an F-117 got successfully shot down by a Syrian missile defense anti-air missile system. However, the Nighthawk was also brilliantly engineered to be harder to spot by heat seeking missiles too. The engine nozzles are long horizontal slits rather than a traditional cone nozzle with a cooling syetem built in. The slits spread out the hot exhaust over a much larger area, thus reducing its thermal visibility by a major amount.

The Nighthawk, despite being labelled as a fighter (F), was actually a bomber. The reasoning behind this is quite interesting. So it is considered a subsonic stealth bomber. Its played a major role into the future of stealth aircraft, and inspired Lockheed's B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, F-22 Raptor air superiority stealth fighter (deadliest jet on the planet), and the F-35 Lightnkng II stealth fighter. The F-117 was retired in the early 2000s to allow more funding for both the production of the F-22 Raptor (released into seevice in 2005) and the F-35 program. The F-117 is still flown today under secrecy for military operations as well as training operations...
Overall, the F-117 was the beginning of modern stealth and future stealth technology. Thats why I love it ao much.
