I've checked known issues to see if something matches this, but I'm not sure anything's been listed yet. I'm on Vesktop 1.5.8 on Arch and I'm straight up unable to stream. I select the stream button, select a window, and discord notifies me that doing that crashed part of the client with a gray screen.
It recovers (Typically it doesn't kick me out of a voice call or anything) and then I'm no longer able to click the button at all without a restart.
I've attempted repairing and resetting, to no avail. I am using Vesktop.
Is there any sorta troubleshooting info I can get to narrow down what's going on?

When I turn my brightness to 100 percent, it looks really saturated specifically on Vesktop and only on Vesktop. It's fine at 99% for some reason though, and it's also just a different color than the regular Discord app despite being set to the same theme

It looks like I’ve found the cause of the poor stream quality. It’s all because of KDE. On KDE, after enabling ⁨WebScreenShareFixes⁩, the window for selecting the stream source stopped appearing altogether. Recently I installed Hyprland, and with it everything works perfectly.

Hi! every time i try to stream my vesktop soft crashes. For a split second I get the discord crash screen, then I get a toast saying vesktop is attempting to recover the crash. It recovers, but it never starts streaming. (Running on arch linux)

EDIT: reinstalling from the aur seems to have fixed my issue, not sure why :/

So my friend is using vesktop recently, she's liking it a lot, only problem is when she tries to stream with audio, the stream doesn't start, this error is displayed in the console - Uncaught (in promise) Not Readable Error: Could not start audio source - when she streams without audio, it works, and when she unplugs her headphones, she can stream with audio, but the prob is her monitor speakers are kinda very mid, so she'd like to be able to stream with audio, not only for gaming and whatever but her music work too, she's using windows 11, so maybe that information helps? there's also this github issue on the vesktop issues page https://github.com/Vencord/Vesktop/issues/334 so not really sure what she should do

I got a prompt to update Vesktop (the one that needs sudo auth) and went through with it. The updater stopped responding, and then both it and Vesktop closed. Vesktop reopened with no active plugins and no visible settings in the settings modal. The in-app Vencord update toast popped up, but when I clicked on it, it'd just display an empty modal. Neither closing and restarting nor uninstalling and reinstalling Vesktop from the latest .deb resolved the issue.

However, when I opened this channel, the 'outdated version' prompt popped up with two options. The first option to view updates brought up the same empty modal. But the second option to update and restart bypassed the broken modal and forced the update to go through. Vesktop is now working properly again.

Just leaving this here in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

when enabling autoscroll while running vesktop, ( vesktop --enable-blink-features=MiddleClickAutoscroll ), accidentally scrolling with my trackpad crashes the program. In addition, middle mouse autoscrolling also doesn't work with any of the longer user settings pages, where it will kind of 'snap' back to where you started, or to the bottom of the page. Trackpad scrolling does work here, though.

Enabling the "Custom Titlebar" setting shows the default Discord window buttons(first image) however disabling it gives no buttons at all. Any other window, even Electron, shows window decorations correctly

Hey there! I often get complaints by friends of mine that the quality of my screen shares are often fairly bad. With "Prefer Smoothness" and "Prefer Clarity" I only have the choice between a mess of pixels or a frame every few seconds. I suspect this is not an issue of performance, I should have a capable enough PC (R5 5600X, RX 5700XT, 16GB RAM) and a solid internet connection (50mbit upload, single digit ping) via ethernet. I use Arch Linux(, btw).
Someone suggested to me that this might be caused by having to convert IPv6 packets to IPv4 (not sure what exactly was meant by this / if this makes sense)
This has been an issue for me for years and I can't figure out how to make this better. Does anyone else have the same problem?

That's pretty unlikely imo (personal opinion), since the chances of someone using a NAT64 provider without them knowing on a residential connection that is clearly not using cellular or anything are low and the code that added NAT64/CLAT support to networkmanager (which you're probably using, unless you're not ofc) was added quite recently, and idk of any other NAT64 client-side implementations that are likely to be used

This is super specific, but is it possible that vesktop could somehow break the character encoding of some discord assets on the first load?
On very rare occasions the main stylesheet is loaded as windows-125X, I have no idea how to reliably reproduce it and it's driving me insane. It goes away after a restart, but comes back a few weeks later.

I'm currently running CachyOS on KDE Plasma 6.5.5 on a two-monitor setup: Main 3840x2160@160Hz(x170% scaling) with HDR enabled + Secondary 1366x768@59.79Hz(x100% scaling). When Vencord (installed through the AUR) opens up, I have 2 possible scenarios happen (which are the same, I'm trying to be rigorous with all of the possibilities I have put to the test until now): If the window pops up on my main display, the colors display just fine, and when I move my window to my secondary, they look just fine aswell; but when I move the window from my secondary back to my main, the colors look extremely blown out of proportion (color clipping). This bug persists no matter where I put my window (on the secondary it always looks fine while on my main it's blown out). Otherwise, if my Vencord window spawns on my secondary, the bug already persists (which is to say it immediately looks blown out the second I move it to my main). This has never happened to me before and I have been running these exact settings for over 5 months on my CachyOS setup, so yeah, help plz.

I have an issue with the RPC (i guess arRPC?) not seeming to work for some games.. An example would be Minecraft, i tried to have an RPC mod but, after a few of them not working, one finally gave me an MC log message:

Hello! I am using the latest version of Vesktop on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. I also have two friends using Vencord on Linux Mint 22.2. When either of them are streaming, the stream appears glitchy and covered with artifacts that grow over time.

Anyone not using Vencord can see the stream as intended, and I can see the streams of non-Vencord users as intended.

hiya i have an issue where on gnome desktop under arch linux (on all of my machines) vesktop has issues with transmitting my webcam and crashing everytime i try to deactivate the webcam again.
on deactivating the webcam, i get a blank window (sometimes the sound effect lags too) and then Vesktop is completely unresponsive unless i do ctrl+q and hard restart

trying to apply the lastest updates, but it seems to "not stick." I manually update and restart, check it again and it says its up to date. navigate to any other tabs and check it again, its now saying it needs to apply the same update again.
I've tried updating through the popup that appears in this discord, it either appears to update but doesnt, or just throws an error on-screen. also tried updating through the console script given in the known issues and doesnt work either. I'm not really sure whats going on, but I know the update isnt sticking because PinDMs is broken and that was supposedly fixed with the update.

Hi. So I was wondering is it normal for screen sharing to always be stuck at one resolution? I can only stream in 1080p 30fps, even if I change to 720p or any other resolution and different frame rate, discord reports that its still a 1080p 30fps stream. I had this issue for months but was lazy to ask around.

Why is my Discord laggy?

The most common cause of lag is poorly written CSS.

To see if this is the case for you, try temporarily disabling all themes and your QuickCSS.

If that indeed fixes the lagging, you'll have to figure out which theme / part of your QuickCSS is causing the lag.Just slowly remove parts of it until it doesn't lag anymore.

the flatpak version of vesktop has recently begun having an issue for me where the cpu usage keeps climbing up and up until it reaches above 80% until the entire client crashes, and resets it back to only a few %, or i manually have to restart it every 1-2h to make it go back to only a few % usage.

not sure what i should do to fix this, it's really annoying and forces me to use the normal discord client.

Vesktop looks oversaturated on my non-HDR monitor, Control R doesn't fix it. It doesn't seem to show up when I do a screenshot. It fixes itself when I fully close vesktop and open it on the non-HDR monitor, but when I bring it to my HDR monitor and then back to the non-hdr one, the issue reoccurs. I've been using Vesktop for a while but the problem only recently started happening.

What it seems like is happening to me is that reinstalling it like that or using the flatpak is maybe actually applying those updates and bricking it? When installed through the AUR it updates until it hits the update that breaks it and fails to install it. I think is what's happening

Client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

No clue how this happened, but I'm using Vesktop with KDE, and for some reason in the past two weeks, Vesktop will "deep fry itself" if it's on a screen at full brightness. On a screen with full brightness, it's contrast gets cranked up for some reason. No other electron.js apps do this (VS Code is the example), as pictured in the attached image, so it's not an issue with my monitor.

Hello friends, I am on a new NixOS install attempting to get Vesktop working, but it crashes on startup. This is what's in the journal that seems relevant:

After resetting I was briefly able to get it to open, but it still crashes on subsequent startups. While I was in Vesktop, I was able to get into some nitty gritty stuff and snagged this screenshot:

EDIT: Solved by disabling hardware acceleration.

at the risk of being silenced, running latest vesktop on manjaro kde with wayland, finally screensharing works and video conferencing works, but there is a problem i could not fix: if you make a spelling mistake on the text line, the the spelling mistake is marked ( squiggly ) but the context menu ( right mouse click ) does not bring up anything. if i run vesktop in the browser, the context menu works in the native browser, but the context menu pops ( down ) below and outside the browser, on the flatpack app it does not show up. any possible help here?

Screen Sharing doesnt work in vesktop with Vencord . Im using Arch linux . There is an update present and i tried all ways including the how to update . But im not able to update for some reason . Reinstalling also doesnt seem to fix it . Thanks

Hello! I've been using Vesktop for a couple of days now and I love it, but I've run into a super werid issue on Arch Linux. Apparently, if I screen-share, it mostly works fine, but if I stop screen-sharing, it freezes/crashes the entire client. I didn't see anything about this and I'm kind of confused by it. If it helps, I'm also on KDE Plasma (6.5.5) w/ Wayland

Hello there! I've been having for a while issues with bitrate in the Linux build of Vesktop, and I remember there has been issues and pull requests addressing this throughout last year. Has there been any developments in that front? I am currently facing issues with my camera, where the target bitrate is 1200 and the actual is ~100, causing the resolution of a 720p capable device, to be at 252p.
