it's not gonna read more than one message at a time so you might miss some messages if they get sent in a different channel at the same exact time but it works kinda
only problem is that you can't disable role name gradients in regular discord still without disabling all role colours everywhere and they give me migraines so i gotta use tampermonkey or something to disable them

if the ctrl + shift + i keybind doesn't work, it's likely because a different program conflicts with the keybind. This is most commonly the AMD Radeon Software. If you have that, disable keybinds in it (see the video below)

This is a tough one.
I doubt it's a problem with vencord itself, but if I ask Discord for help, I doubt they'll even respond.
I'm writing in hopes of getting some simple tips and ideas.

I've scoured the internet, all the forums, watched every five-year-old YouTube video where someone from India is solving your problems.

I'm having horrendous lag when I try to type text (and sometimes a lot of text).
Hold down any letter on the keyboard and watch a slideshow as your message slowly loads, first 5, then 15, then 60 characters at a time.

I checked in other apps, and this doesn't happen.
Apparently, I'm the only one with this problem.
The keyboard is fine, the USB 3.0 port is fine.
DPC is stable, around 500-700.

Yes, I uninstalled vencord to check if the plugins were to blame. Yes, I reinstalled Discord.
Yes, I'm being cheeky and asking for help from people who have nothing to do with this. Please have mercy on me.

Why is my Discord laggy?

The most common cause of lag is poorly written CSS.

To see if this is the case for you, try temporarily disabling all themes and your QuickCSS.

If that indeed fixes the lagging, you'll have to figure out which theme / part of your QuickCSS is causing the lag.Just slowly remove parts of it until it doesn't lag anymore.

Even after i uninstalled discord and tried to delete discord folder, i cannot delete gpu_encoder_helper.exe because it says its being used by some different software. Discord is no longer installed

Tried right now, the thing is, im moderating some crypto servers, and they are full of scammers and i have to check the persons profile that is typing with ability to mute them/ban them before they send the message. I used the "TypingUsersPopout" on BD but BD is making my discord extremely laggy. I kinda got lost between the vencord plugins, but the one that allows me to click on the username while typing, is it possible that the developers that made the plugin would add option to show the whole profile or just the small pop out?

I looked through the #1257025907625951423 and saw the one about discord lagging... followed its steps but still hasn't fixed it.

I only have a theme that replaces emojis with iOS emojis (toggled it on/off while testing), no online themes, and toggled on/off the Enable Custom CSS setting.

Ever since Discord updated ~2 weeks ago my application has been strained... I started originally by disabling some of the heavy plugins but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. I didn't see Discord operating at normal speed until I removed Vencord completely.

Is this common? I expected something of Vencord needing to be updated/optimized to the Discord version, but I haven't received a Vencord update...

it's a strange issue caused by something discord did. Vencord did no change that could have caused it

the lag only happens to some people. many people have reported having the issue on stock discord

for some people it only happens with vencord, for others it happens with both. for me both stock and vencord are equally laggy so I can't really look into it

I mean I have used canary since like 2017 or so, back when discord wasn’t such a trash pit platform. I dislike discord a lot nowadays so can’t be bothered switching to the stable client, esp when vencord supports patching canary.

Unfortunately discord tends to now deploy things based on users and not clients so there’s rarely anything different between canary and stable builds, except minor tech changes like when they deploy bundle changes that breaks vencord (canary is useful for catching these type of changes early, before they invariably end up on stable).

Like this recent canary update from today that makes (for me anyway) discord unusable as I can not manage my custom css or anything else

The easiest & fastest solution to most issues is to just reinstalll / repair Vencord using the installer. Don't worry, you won't lose your settings! They'll all be there like nothing happened once you're back

Client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

you never lose data when repairing, just rerun the installer command and there choose repair instead of install

also once vencord is repaired you should really enable the cloud integration (discord settings -> cloud) so you can save settings
should save you worries like these
