I've looked into this a bit more and found out that one of my Privacy extensions (Privacy Badger) on my browser was blocking the Spotify API domain. I've unblocked the domain and everything works fine now.

the account I used for testing had premium_type set
so I made it, in case user is undefined, which happens another time the function is run, it tries to get the user from the userstore, which is already there by the time it reaches that code
but for some reason premium_type was not present on your account, which means it tried getting the user from the userstore way too soon
