Having the same port on everything does not make it so only one USB-C cable can do everything, you are 100% correct. However if we make different ports for every little subtly different use case like high power draw demands vs. high data transfer speed or a little of both then I would argue that is much worse because on top of needing different cables within each subset of port type you also need to have like 20 different port types lying around.

With USB-C becoming so universal at least you only have to juggle managing USB-C cable types, not that plus everything else.

I think it's reasonable to make some things not USB-C when it just is impractical to make it USB-C, like gaming laptops using it for charging as an example. I fucking LOVE the design of MagSafe chargers on macbooks, it saves so many mac users from broken charging ports and chargers.
