In such cases, I recommend that you expect that you won't be accepted regardless of how you performed in application.
It is a good time to read this article: https://google.github.io/gsocguides/student/being-turned-down
Remember that most of the benefits that you gain from GSoC can be gained outside GSoC.
The main goal of GSoC is to introduce you to the Open Source Community and I think this goal is achieved during the application period and what is before it.
Remember that you are welcome to be a contributor in Open Source Community without being a GSoC Contributor and that GSoC is not the only way to contribute in the Open Source, not even the default one.
The default one is to contribute independently,
Actually, GSoC orgs value independent contributors more than gsoc contributors because gsoc contributor may not be interested in the org itself and just interested in the stipend or getting "GSoC" in their resume and won't continue contribution after the program ends, while independent contributors has some kind of interest in the org itself.
By independent, I mean without being GSoC Contributor, not that you will contribute alone.
You will collaborate with other org contributors.
I also recommend that you don't just look at the clock waiting, find something to do during this time. (Coding, Watching Videos, Gaming, Cooking, etc)
