Day 6 asking for a infected mode for the future halloween update with survivors and infected (zombie or what ever halloween skins u cook up) outfits where 2-3 ppl start out as infected having to kill the suvivors and turn them running around with daggers while the suvivors get normal weapons some should be obtainable in the game mode and some outfit purchasable the infected and survivors should get gadgets and important that the infected get 1 throwing knive in theyre gadget slot that can kill a survivor from range

Few Ideas for some mechanics:

-Zombie spawns should be fast
-Once Zombie turns a survivor the suvivor gets infected on the spot
-If the Zombies should not be able to turn anyone give them some type of comeback mechanic at the last 2 minutes or so (stronger,faster, etc.)
-I think multiple fast rounds would be more fun
-Heavly halloween decorated map maybe change the light more dark and griddy

hi when I solo queue stop punishing me for having hackers on my team please. It's not like I chose them, maybe you should try penalizing yourselves, or like idk firing the fucking idiot who made this system as a penalty instead of penalizing me. Please introduce a 3v3 cashout gamemode! 3rd parties are so frustrating, and they happen in every cashout mode, we need one thats just one on one so the better team wins! I would kill for a tournament of 3v3 games but im sure thats pushing it.

Matchmaking:

even though casual modes don’t mean much, it’s pretty annoying to constantly run into trios with thousands of hours playing super sweaty with the best gear and guns.

Can there be some type of matchmaking adjustment in the future that separates newer players from OG? Whether it’s by matches won, player level, etc something of that sort. I get a lot of new teammates as a new player myself and sometimes I run into new opponents but more than not it’s full stacks with like 3000 win Finals profiles popping up on my screen.

It’s not about making it easier, it’s giving new people a chance to learn the game without getting destroyed, and in turn not wanting to play the game anymore.

Ranked takes too long to unlock, to find players of similar skill. I shouldn’t have to sit through 50 full matches of hell just to start playing ranked. Maybe cut that down to like 10-15? If that’s for anti smurfing purposes I commend that, but it’s asking a bit too much from a casual player.

If I didn’t have access to discord or couldn’t make any friends (say a bunch of no mics in chat), what would be the solution? There wouldn’t be one. Think about all players! Game is amazing but I can’t play it until this changes.

Don’t change anything in a weird way, and don’t replace the lunge buff with some other nerf. Just revert sword lunge damage to 140.
Sword was fine.

I’m worried about the upcoming control tweaks. Super dash is one of the few advantages sword has over weapons like DB and Dagger. A strange movement rework or nerf would just keep sword stuck in the same weak state, even with the 140 damage lunge.
Common sense tells us that nerfing just the hit sweep already made sword very weak, and you acknowledged that by reverting it.
In fact, weakening the movement is basically the same as nerfing both movement and hit sweep at the same time, so it’s an even bigger nerf. If that happens, sword will just be a weaker version of the already weak Dagger. You should never make changes that ruin a weapon’s identity.

And restricting aiming during a lunge effectively nerfs movement, hit sweep, and aiming itself all at once, making it one of the worst nerfs. This is like not being able to move your mouse while aiming with a gun. I absolutely cannot agree with this suggestion.

I think suggestions about removing multi-hit entirely are heading in the right direction, but the extent feels a little bit excessive. You at Embark added that feature because you thought it was necessary. But what the sword truly needs is its original dmg and movement. So if I were to make one suggestion: a way to maintain multi-hit while keeping both of those, it should involve making the primary target take 140 dmg and non-primary targets take slightly less. But current 25% reduction is trash. even non-primary targets should take more damage than that.

But, I think just revert sword and melees would be totally fine. You can always buff other weapons instead. Even before the nerf, only a very small number of top players used the sword. Melee has always come with inherent risks, so it never outperformed guns. You guys know that all melee weapons were weak even before the nerf. Melees were never meta.

give the flamethrower a secondary attack that sprays fuel that can be ignited. allows for setting traps at doorways/hallways/cashouts. it should be relatively visible like a reflective puddle so it can be shot at it to be ignited too. the ignition wouldnt be a long-burning flame but a quick explosive burst like a pyro mine

Sledge dominated the casual and competitive meta (see PHL and any S5 lobby in videos) and the only reason sword didn’t is bc at the time dash didn’t fit the meta cloak playstyle and stun was hard counter.

If you bring back sword with 140 dmg into the game we have currently today, it will be the most oppressive thing in the game since recon.

The game’s ttk has been increased significantly since CB. Powercreep is real and sword and sledge had a bad case of it, no amount of whining will change that.

Just played a match with a guy who was hitting only headshots from over 150 meters away. Shooting at people through walls and was level 16. We reported him and he got banned mid game and we won the tournament.

This is the second hacker today who was banned mid game. Peak anti cheat.

i have been nonstop crashing on this game for the past 2 patches on pc, i have all my settings set to the lowest graphics and i close out of all external programs on my pc when i run this game too. i haven't had any crashing issues since season 1 and i use an rtx 3060, i also upgraded my cpu so it can't be that either

can someone help or at least tell me if they've also been recently experiencing issues?

My suggestion would be if you could add a language-based matchmaking system, since in my case there aren't many ways to play with Spanish-speaking people in Facebook groups They tend to be small in community, the same thing happens with PUBG, but they added that system that allows greater interaction with people who speak Spanish. Just take Thermal Vision out. It's useless anyways. Give the clucking bunny hopping a penalty to movement as well. It'll make the game a bell of a lot more fun for all of us. (And no, it's not a clucking "skill issue" you bunch of clucking babies, the hit registration in this game is already awful, they spam it and you can't hit the broad side of a clucking planet it you put the barrel up to it and pulled the trigger)

Also, just a side note: when you're in a game and you have one person on a team who goes clucking 40 and 3, they're swinging ridiculous 360 degree, two-second team wipes, all headshots with a sniper rifle at close range (which by the way, there needs to be way more of a clucking penalty/debuff to the quick scoping - just a side note)... that person is probably clucking cheating. You should probably do something about that and clucking ban that person when they're reported, not put me in 5 more clucking games in a row with them.

its crazy cuz now we have things like flamethrower that feel just as oppressive with the massive buff it got. Or the range meta we are currently experiencing with pyke and burstpistol on light. idk man game feels bland and weak. we are making everything but the most cookie cutter loadouts not viable. Oh, and the winch claw... atleast once in every ranked game i get hooked scorpion style thrue a wall, a door, or a fucking whole slope... god this game used to be fun but its just frustrating now. and 2/3 heavies run winch now. its just that good.

Here is a list of weapons that need to be buffed but not make them overpowered in the next balance patch

Spear: increase the first swing damage in the combo from 65 to 70 making it 70, 80, 90 and increase the spin attack damage to 120

KS-23: increase the projectile speed to 500m/s and either give it a 1.2x headshot multiplier or decrease the fire rate to 73 RPM and increase the player damage to 120

Riot shield: increase the movement speed when blocking

R.357: increase the fire rate from 140 to 160 RPM

Dual blades: make the Deflect more consistent so it can block all melee weapons and increase the first swing damage from 50 to 55, increase the second swing damage from 60 to 65 and increase the final attack damage from 65 to 75 and make it so the final attack can be done faster and increase the movement speed when deflecting by just a little bit and make it so the blades deflect pellets from shotguns more consistently because right now it's bugged and it deflects more pellets at a certain range

AKM: increase magazine capacity to 34, 35 or 36, the choice is yours on what number you choose

ARN-220: decrease the duration of the tactical reload animation from 2.45s to 2.30s, decrease the duration of the full reload animation from 2.80s to 2.60s

Data Reshaper: increase the charges from 2 to 3 and decrease the cooldown from 26s to 20s

I am unsure who to contact about this but I have not been able to play a single match of any kind without experiencing significant lag. Some games are slightly better than others but the majority of my matches are plauged with lag issues to the point where I can't even really play it at all. I've paid for content, so I'm a little bummed I cant really enjoy it. Has been happening since at least begininnig of this season

I live in a major US city, my wifi router is like 20 ft away from my pc (4070 super), and have verified my region.

Please rework the audio mix. This game has some of the worst spatial audio I have ever played in an FPS. A heavy should not be able to sneak up on me with no sound. As much as the game sucks, Battlefield 2042 is a great example of good spatial audio. Take notes.

I have to agree with @thick sorrel The winch is as bad as the stun gun currently. It’s a guaranteed elimination if you are a medium or light. I think you need to remove this effect as the stun gun was completely removed for the same exact same reason except this time it’s worse because the heavy has double the health pool. On a separate note the winch can counter the charge n slam and pull the cashout which is fine but then you need to buff charge n slam by allowing you to push the cash out or something. @sterile canopy who do you thinks gonna win at point blank if 1 player has 350 hp and the other has less than 350hp? Remember that the shak 50 and other weapons like the ks at point blank range, wastes everything so an facr or a v9s at the same range is not gonna be able to do enough damage to beat the heavy’s health pool. You can’t out dps a heavy at close range so it’s not an exaggeration. I used to kill lights all the time when they stunned me because they only have 150hp, it was hit and miss which is why I understood the need for a rework. Same applies here imo.

The way to counter light is to aim, simple as. If you just hit any shots, you out dps them with just about any weapon. You don't want a solid counter against light, because 99% of the weapon roster already falls into that category.

You want an easy counter against light, which is what the cerberus and cl40 were before they got nerfed. The reason these weapons always seem to get nerfed is because the game devs actually want you to put effort into eliminating an opponent

Idea: Social rating. Where players can give stars or disrespect to their teammates after the match. I don't think the report system copes well with toxicity and non-verbal aggression in the game.

In one match (HLL), another light did something wrong and the heavy started to torment him using a Goo gun. He shot at him, stunned him, blocked his movement and set him on fire. It was painful and unpleasant to watch. There were 6 minutes left until the end of the match and it seemed very long. After such an experience, I don't want to go into the game for several days. The game is fun to play, but the community is a nightmare.

Crazy unbelievable. Rage hacker in my game, make it to 2nd round, +88 points. Okay fine. Queue again 20 mins later, rage hacker still in my lobby, -653 points as the 8th seed. Just crazy investment of my time to go nowhere. Has embark ever explained how they determine the +/- for games in ranked?

No one wants an "easy" tournament where you lose 2000 points for last place and get +500 for first. No one wants a challenging tournament where you are 8th seed and still lose 650 points for last.

You literally cannot solo queue in this game. No other online game has as big of a solo queue issue as Finals

Don’t change anything in a weird way, and don’t replace the lunge buff with some other nerf. Just revert sword lunge damage to 140.

I’m worried about the upcoming control tweaks. Super dash is one of the few advantages sword has over weapons like DB and Dagger. A strange movement rework or nerf would just keep sword stuck in the same weak state, even with the 140 damage lunge.
Common sense tells us that nerfing just the hit sweep already made sword very weak, and you acknowledged that by reverting it.
In fact, weakening the movement is basically the same as nerfing both movement and hit sweep at the same time, so it’s an even bigger nerf. If that happens, sword will just be a weaker version of the already weak Dagger. You should never make changes that ruin a weapon’s identity.

And restricting aiming during a lunge effectively nerfs movement, hit sweep, and aiming itself all at once, making it one of the worst nerfs. This is like not being able to move your mouse while aiming with a gun. I absolutely cannot agree with this suggestion.

I think suggestions about removing multi-hit entirely are heading in the right direction, but the extent feels a little bit excessive. You at Embark added that feature because you thought it was necessary. But what the sword truly needs is its original dmg and movement. So if I were to make one suggestion: a way to maintain multi-hit while keeping both of those, it should involve making the primary target take 140 dmg and non-primary targets take slightly less. But current 25% reduction is trash. even non-primary targets should take more damage than that.

But, I think just revert sword and melees would be totally fine. You can always buff other weapons instead. All weapons have become too weak, so reverting melees and buffing the other weapons would be a much better choice. Devs made the stupid choice to listen to nerf whiners, and that’s what ruined the game more and more. Nerfs are what make the game less fun.

Gameshow events sound fun but often fall flat, either annoying and too impactfull(low grav, orbital lasers, old dead-go-boom) or barely noticeable (mega damage). Problem ones are applied blank slate and hurt non-meta weapons more, like how low grav messes with melee or MGL but meta guns can just beam harder.

The solution is to make them more opt in, but amp them up to be more meaningful in a fun way. Inspired by halloweens alien invasion. What if we combine alien invasion and low grav where the tractor beam applies low gravity in the beam only. This way you can stay out of the effect if it annoys you but can opt in if you want to make use of the effect. Give the events more identity instead of just destruction. Also let them float around cashouts instead of on them, so it affects the fight but doesnt make the cashout too random in procces.

Some other examples:
Meteor showers spawn ‘attractor items’ on the map that focus the meteors to these items. They can be picked up and thrown around.

Orbital lazers gets a console somewhere where players can aim the lazers. Maybe there are several on the map? Maybe players get a 4th gadget that they can aim the lazers with.

Kingmaker event lets you push a button to become marked (like a carried cashbox). But kills you make give double cash (until you yourself are killed, maybe apply a penalty if killed).

Gamemode specific ones like an extra cashbox spawning or inflatable fake contestants (static with 40hp) you can find to put on the power shift platform to help push for your team.

In other words keep em chaotic but give players more control.

  • You shouldn't be able to right clic sword + dash. This double dash is unfair
  • Increase the hip fire the CB01-Repeater
  • Rework Vanish Bomb. Make it start regen instant. It will increase survability for the Light & it can be use for your teammates too !
  • Reduce the radius of the reflect of the Dual Blade or let us shoot in the feet or something else to let us counter DB when you got an AR like Riot Shield.
  • Nerf the range of the KS23. You can put 100 dmg at 20m.
  • Nerf PIKE to 48 dmg instead of 50 dmg.
  • Rework defib: Reduce the cooldown reset to 5s and give 100HP instead of 50% of your HP. It will force Medium to revive safer !
  • Winch & lockbolt shouldn't do 5 damages. It's already strong enough
  • Rework the ARN into a real AR ? Slower RPM but much more DMG. Something like the FCAR for example.

The effort to play Light correctly is too damn high compared to Medium & Heavy class. There is no fun at all playing Light. Meanwhile Medium spam with CL40 and Heavy are unkillable with the new heal. When will we see a META with Light ?
Share with us your data on all class. Light are getting vanish by 80% of the weapons in your game and can't get a proper 1v1 without get instant kill. You destroyed the stun gun. You destroyed the XP54. Everyone viable weapons or gadget has been destroyed by other class because they can't track properly an other class with 150HP.

  • Improve your netcode / tickrate or I don't know what ! Dying behind cover it's one of the most frustrating thing in The Finals
  • Flamethrower and hook should NOT get you through walls, doors and farer than it should be
  • Sword, dagger, DualS or all other melee weapon feels unfair when you think you're out of range and die anyway
  • Having good connection = Death behind wall, door & anything else.

Ability concept: Rubble Raiser

This is an idea that sort of encompasses a little of everything heavy is designed to do, something between charge and slam, winch claw, and mesh shield.

Upon ability activation, heavy enters a half second “wind-up” animation where he gets ready to rush forward. On completion, heavy lunges up to 5 meters in the direction of his crosshair, with the intent of colliding with either structure or a player.

Upon colliding with a breakable structure, heavy will rip a chunk of the wall out, bracing it as a shield. For up to ten seconds, heavy will hold it in front of him as a 500 HP barricade, blocking enemy fire from their knees to their neck. Heavy can move and aim the shield about as if he was holding up a mesh shield during this time, though their movespeed is notably reduced. If the specialization input is pressed at all during this time, heavy will throw the rubble forwards, dealing 100 damage and high structural damage to whatever it hits. The rubble has weight similar to the grav cube, meaning you can’t throw it very far.

Upon hitting an enemy, heavy will lift and immediately throw the enemy the same way they would a rubble chunk, with the same mass. Upon collision with anything, that enemy takes 100 damage. If they hit another enemy player, both take 100 damage. If they hit a breakable surface, they will break through it, taking the damage then. Enemies cannot break through more than one structure per throw. Enemies caught by the throw cannot shoot while heavy is holding them, or until they land.

This specializations short range and requirement to connect will give it decent skill requirement, but high skill expression, and significant versatility in lots of scenarios.

This isn't the winch claw. Its the server and running in a lower bitrate. Plus you could turn as a heavy to slightly turn it as well so skill gapped.

They seriously need to remove kyoto or revamp it. I will not stop complaining about how god awful this map is. They made the nice change that water doesn't slow you anymore but playing that side of the map almost never happens.

Also.. whoever came up with the idea of Dome on cash as well as whoever ok'd it should seriously be considered to be let go. I would be fine with it if glitching it actually did something instead of making it go away for 3 seconds. I understand why glitch doesn't pop it but at least make it so 2-3 glitches actually remove it like when you deplete its HP. Makes super lame playstyles super strong and sometimes just feels unfair to fight against given it has more HP than Mesh.

My current annoyance is wishing that outfits each had their own weapon customization, expressions, and contestant cards

Often I'm wondering what weapons this outfit would sport if it were another weight class, like if I have the perfect heavy weapon to match to this outfit, but I don't want to sacrifice character slots or something.

Similarly, expressions are often tied to the outfit. I generally pick a sponsor for my outfits to represent, and match the sponsor emote for Start of Match

I also saw someone posting in reddit that it would be nice to have an emote selection specifically for the player card

I'm loving this season of WT though, those two points are perfect for convincing people to queue even if we lose

Unrelated - we've heard a lot about fantasy and medieval season theme interest, I'm begging you to release some kind of pixelfire mythic (like emitting a fire, optionally pixel) set like a halberd skin for spear, some tiefling horns and a nice red tail.

Congrats Embark, you've once again made a class so underpowered. Lights are so outclassed by heavies its not even funny. Any map that has mostly close quarters (WHICH IS MOST), lights are already at disadvantage with heavy's winch, flame, heal ball, shield, RPG, and FUCKING LOCKBOLT. I'm so done with your bullshit. So WINCH can stun but the STUN GUN is too much? Now EVERY class gets healing, GREAT more health that I need to knock off a heavy. I'm well aware that lights are not supposed to 1v1 heavies, but 70% of their guns can melt a light before we can get even 1/3 or a heavies health, you gotta remember the CANNON part of GLASS CANNON.

  • Remove the stun from winch so you can shoot while winched
  • Make Lockbolt a one tap break, or better yet remove it. You reworked stun gun making it useless, now's your chance again
  • Make heal ball unusable IN COMBAT. Make it something you need to fall back to, not just extra health.
  • Oh and also, make heavy steps LOUDER. The audio in the game is beyond awful when it comes to footsteps. Heavies should be LOUD, yet somehow they manage to sneak up on me

Pike needs fire rate nerf and more recoil on its shots. Playing that gun is so easy that it is meta on top rank and if something is meta on top ranks it is easy to use + op. Or just 2 dmg nerf. Which makes the gun need a little help from his team to be same as before.
For winch claw. It has awful hitboxes. Getting winched makes you basically a free kill if only you are not a heavy and you got fully healed by a light. Fix hitboxes, up the cdr for it by 2 to 4 seconds so punishing for missing gets a little easier. reduce the stun duration and fix the no reging that happens when after you get clawed. That no reg is so consistantly happens that i think 90% of the time when i tried to shot the heavy when i clawed i get no reged. It destroys the only way of surviving from it as a light which is nullifier. (that no reging started to happen when you guys buffed the stun maybe it is about that)
93R is probably a little bit strong. But it is garbage at range so idk. Maybe a slight nerf needed.
Others are pretty balanced in my opinion. Buff other than cl and shotguns. Make the meta change a bit.

Pike-556 doing more than 49 damage on a bodyshot is overpowered.

Literally every single time in this game's entire lifespan a DMR has done more than 49 damage on a bodyshot, said DMR has been overpowered:

  • LH1:
    • Was buffed from 49 to 52 damage on a bodyshot in 3.0.0.
    • Deservingly hotfixed in 3.1.0 back down below 50.
  • Pike-556:
    • Released at 59 damage, was obscenely overpowered.
    • Took 2 patches to nerf it to 52 damage, solving... literally nothing.
    • Took another 4 patches to nerf it below 50 in 4.6.0.
    • Got reverted to 50 damage on a bodyshot in 5.8.0, undoing the entire point of the nerfs.
    • 6.0.0 nerfed... falloff, solving... literally nothing.

Add kusarigama for light OR MEDIUM class,primary attacks hit like sword but alt attack is u spin the chain and blade 160 degrees in front of u and most damage ONLY where blade hits NOT the WHOLE CHAIN,it’s skill based cause u hold down alt and the more u hold the longer u throw and only the blade part damages when spinning plus u can move your aim while spinning to make blade go in that direction,a mix of projectile and melee.

To simply put it,the melee alt is more like aim and shoot but use aim to move the blade and hit box.

There r two ways of implementing this,either the melee projectile starts from an arc from the left side and goes to the centre line and move as u change your aim or the projectile starts from the crosshairs and moves where u move your aim

U may change between the two using a different stance using the weapon inspection button or add more combos using that button.

Either u can’t use light spec when using alt or give this weapon to medium with a wall run gadget or else it’s the most dull experience chasing player as a medium

I haven’t played ranked in many seasons and just started playing again because of the stupid world tour event but question why are you hiding other teams rank? Is it because no one fucking plays ranked and your game is slowly losing player base to play ranked that other players might be higher and you’re tired of people complaining about it so you tried to cover it up and instead of addressing it?

Im concerned about quick cash. To preface this quick cash has always been my favorite mode because it allows me freedom to play the signature mode of the finals without having to waste an hour in a tournament mode(because Im pretty good and that would happen often) Even when the xp in quick cash was nerfed I remained playing it and grinded it cause It was genuinely addicting to me.

To start the spawns changes felt like such a bandaid fix to me. I'm sad its been left the same even though theres been tons of the community saying its ridiculous..I still have to change the camera view to be able to switch my loadout after death..so I often get stuck in the same loadout cause the 7 seconds is faster than you think to change to what you want.. And its become so unrewarding to actually beat a team who went out of their way to try to kill you now, just to have them spawn close/fast enough to punish you/third party the cashout. Or even spawn close enough to fight on cash before you even get there..and my condolences if youre playing heavy in quick cash. You can get hounded down over and over again if the team cares enough to go fight you instead of going to the obj lol..

On top the new changes a ton of the spawn decisions are wild still. Ive had moments where I spawn with an enemy about 10 meters to my left. And I can tell they just spawned with me too. And ive even had whole teams spawn on top of me like not even 5 seconds after I just spawned..

Im wondering if you guys are chill with the mode now?? is this really the final plan for quick cash?? Its tough to see the mode changed for people who wanna run it down like tdm just for them to not even play quick cash..Its tough watching the mode you love be changed for the casuals who literally wont care how the mode plays.

Add a clip and no clip outfit option. One keeps it how it is where if a item interferes with another it removes/doesnt allow the combination . The other allows us with lots of cloth options to layer and make some crazy cool looking contestants well adding a little uniqueness to each player.

M1: Slow swing speed dealing 100 damage (essentially sledgehammer m1)
M2: ADS (has 4 shots each dealing 20 damage, cannot headshot, hitscan, ks accuracy, slow firing (essentially model rpm))
I feel like there should be a melee option that can account for range. Putting it on heavy might make it have competition with sledge. I know winch exists, thats why it cant really kill anything fast unless its a light.

Day 7 of asking for a infected mode for the future halloween update with survivors and infected (zombie or what ever halloween skins u cook up) outfits where 2-3 ppl start out as infected having to kill the suvivors and turn them running around with daggers while the suvivors get normal weapons some should be obtainable in the game mode and some outfit purchasable the infected and survivors should get gadgets and important that the infected get 1 throwing knive in theyre gadget slot that can kill a survivor from range

Few Ideas for some mechanics:

-Zombie spawns should be fast
-Once Zombie turns a survivor the suvivor gets infected on the spot
-If the Zombies should not be able to turn anyone give them some type of comeback mechanic at the last 2 minutes or so (stronger,faster, etc.)
-I think multiple fast rounds would be more fun
-Heavly halloween decorated map maybe change the light more dark and griddy

  • Winch requires the heavy be a good position/rat spot which is much more difficult thanka light just cloaking/dashing in and throwing away their life for a CC. Balanced because the heavy has terrible base speed and isnt in aggressive positions to use it usually.
  • Changing the LH1 a bunch is weird but its in a fine place right now, and id argue the pike is more difficult thank the LH1. I've never needed to learn the recoil lol
  • CL40 is a bit too strong vs light right now, but then again cl40 nukes your effectiveness vs medium or heavy, its a tradeoff.

These are some terrible takes and you seem to feel like a salty light player, ngl

The game is currently in a good state with the ammount of weapons we have. We have a breath of weapons all with identities and strenghts and weaknesses. If we look at onboarding vr prices are now lowered which is a much needed change. Its easier to pick up then before which is a big plus!

I propose an additional idea that helps with onboarding players and also intuitively explaining some of the balancing philosophies behind the game. Seeing how the game is rock paper scissors gameplay where certain weapons preform better against certain classes.

If we have 3 weapons unlocked for each class right out of the gate. And each of those weapons is good vs one of the classes in the game (weapon a vs light; b vs med; c vs heavy). It would help new players immensely when they struggle versus a different class. It would be a good idea to state per weapon which class it preforms well against.

At the same time we can reflect which weapons should be starter weapons. Because for example light starting with the sniper riffle enforces bad practices for new players thinking this is a viable playstyle in most matches. But after 7 seasons we can state that this very niche.

Onboarding sets the tone for how a new player views the game so we want to be as clear as possible in setting expectations and explaining how to play the game on an intuitive level.

EDIT: Id like to add that its probably a good idea to reset healing as mediums default spec, it allows new players to make an impact while being guided by seasoned players since they are inclined to stick to those players. It gives them a way to make an impact without having major game sense right away.

I saw that the first versions of the season pass are available. So I bought season passes 1 and 3. How do I collect points? Can I buy both equally, or do I have to buy the entire contents of season 1 and then season 3?

And it's going so slowly that it will take me years ;D I don't have the XP bonus, and to get it, I have to buy the current season pass and do the side quests. Please help.

  1. Nerf SH1900, it's been even more oppressive than Sledgehammer and 1887 in terms of tremendous burst damage.

Yet somehow they got nerfed out of meta but not SH1900. Only reason sword lights didn't complain much about their damage nerf was because most of them just swapped to SH1900 instead, found out how op it really is, and moved on quietly.

  1. Buff LH1, it's just a straight up worse version of V9S now. Just look at the stats:

LH1 vs. V9S
42 vs 40 damage and
50m vs 10m range,
should be better at longer range, right?

except,

15 vs 20 bullets per mag and
270 vs 360 rpm, meaning

You just need to land 1 more shot with V9S to close that gap at long range with LH1, and thanks to that extra mag+rpm, it's completely effortless. Now LH1 is just a worse V9S that gains a teensy weensy bit damage for significantly worse hipfire and recoil.

I think change and slam should bump contestants similar to the way samus takes damage in the old Metroid games. They should be bumped away and made slightly airborn and dropping down in place. More often than not contestants are just dragged by charge and it feels a wonky. Also there should be a ring around the heavies feet only visible to the heavy so that they can tell at what angle the contestant is being bumped at.

The ranks system needs a complete overhaul the way it distributes point and assigns teammate is insanely bad,I understand this game cant have SBMM but the way the system assigns difficulty e.g very easy,easy,intermediate etc is most of the time completely wrong i have multiple time played easy game that are more tough than challenging games another issue with this form matchmaking is that even if you win the 1st round of tournament you might get -ve points if you get out of the 2nd round of the tournament(sometimes u get -ve points when u come 3rd also) + the points you get are so wildly variable like for the same difficulty level for e.g intermediate you might get 50 points for coming 4th and sometimes you get 250 points and the matches feel the same in both case scenario this all pls need to change (if possible make the points system a scale of 25 or 100 not 2500 pls)..I have no clue why we cant change weapon in between match(in ranked) the same way we can in world tour pls add this quality of life change it would help a lot.2nd issue with this game is respawn points and everyone knows about it(it has improved with time and i wont discuss about it a lot ).3rd issue with the game is performance i get 80-90 fps in low setting(minimal movement) and it drops to 50-40 fps between heavy fights optimization for laptop gpu is highly required.Overall i would rate this game 10/10 for the casual experience and 4/10 for ranked and a grand total of 7/10.
I will continue to play this game and enjoy it but not in ranked now and i hope as the the the finals esport tournamet comes closer adjusment will be made in rank cause advertising the game in esport and having this bad of a rank system will give it a bad image.

My friend noticed that people often don't use charge to materialise wall back.
And i personally think that Demat makes Heavy Destruction useless, and makes Light no able to run away from Medium at all.

Demat Rework should have 1 charge only which recharge like 7 seconds. And Remat should be free to use.

(Or nerf Demat by increasing time it takes to switch from Demat to other equipment)

We ended up with a random that, seeing us, quit immediately and we were going to do a whole ranked tournament in a team of 2. Also, while we're on the topic, make it so the tournament does not start at all if players quit. Abandoning the match, we got a penalty

Have you not seen the complaining about sword? As a sword main myself I’ve dabbled in SH1900 but I’m still drawn to sword for its fun movement. Also, SH1900 doesn’t need a nerf, it’s strong but also high risk and you can just play around its low range. Weapons like the model and sledge need a buff to be viable again. Also, buffing LH1 risks it being meta again and I don’t think anyone wants the LH1 meta again.

Conclusion: Pike needs 49 Damage or significant lower RPM.

Just my 2 cents but the CL40 has become the most annoying gun in the game. It's far too easy to spam which allows users to 1. create chaos without the limitations of gadget or pickup effort/restrictions 2. initiate a broad range of AOE damage across an opposing team rapidly 3. And can do so endlessly and repeatedly in quick succession. Allowing players to have that much impact without even needing to be wholly accurate feels wrong.

Make it so placeable gadgets get placed in the nearest possible location if the exact place where you point does not work.
With the amount of objects, rubble etc. it happens a lot that a gadget can't be placed in time.

You need to bring back some really cool glitches as features in the game.

  • Grappling on propane canisters
  • Goo plane
  • Using turrets on flower pots and climbing on them to fly in the air (Would like all classes to be able to do that if their teammate has a turret.)
  • Placing jump pad on a roof above a cashout station, then dematting the roof to make it fall onto the cashout station and launching it in the air.
  • Riding on top of propane canisters
  • Taking down the Kyoto tower, and charge and slamming into it to launch it into the air. Same thing with suspended structures.

Wacky Stuff like that. Just make sure that you tweak them a bit to avoid making them OP, eg: the demat beneath jump pad technique made the cashout station go out of the entire map, instead make it go high but not too far.

All 5v5 modes should be made into 6v6 modes.

it’s annoying to play a game in a five stack and want to split off to play WT or ranked but you have to decide who gets a full stack and who has to wait for a third or deal with a rando.

6v6 Cashout should replace Quickcash

  • Appeal to casuals: when you’re part of a larger team, you feel less pressure to perform well; it gives you more room to make mistakes, run off meta or unfamiliar loadouts, or even just goof around a bit.
    • Furthermore, because it’s 6V6, the casuals are still introduced to the chaos involved in normal cash out tournaments, even though they feel less pressure to carry.
  • Appeal to vets: some really interesting team compositions emerge in power shift and terminal attack, and those of us that have been playing the game for a while or who play the game a lot would be interested in seeing how these compositions changed the dynamic of attacking or defending cash outs. It also changes the Meta of the game mode. When you only have three people on your team, you can’t afford to have anyone choose an off meta loadout, but, when you have six people on your team, suddenly you have more wiggle room for flex picks or hyper specialized picks.
  • This game mode would also allow people, with more than two friends, to group up and play the quintessential game mode together.

Ability concept: Rubble Raiser

This is an idea that sort of encompasses a little of everything heavy is designed to do, something between charge and slam, winch claw, and mesh shield.

Upon ability activation, heavy enters a half second “wind-up” animation where he gets ready to rush forward. On completion, heavy lunges up to 5 meters in the direction of his crosshair, with the intent of colliding with either structure or a player.

Upon colliding with a breakable structure, heavy will rip a chunk of the wall out, bracing it as a shield. For up to ten seconds, heavy will hold it in front of him as a 500 HP barricade, blocking enemy fire from their knees to their neck. Heavy can move and aim the shield about as if he was holding up a mesh shield during this time, though their movespeed is notably reduced. If the specialization input is pressed at all during this time, heavy will throw the rubble forwards, dealing 100 damage and high structural damage to whatever it hits. The rubble has weight similar to the grav cube, meaning you can’t throw it very far.

Upon hitting an enemy, heavy will lift and immediately throw the enemy the same way they would a rubble chunk, with the same mass. Upon collision with anything, that enemy takes 100 damage. If they hit another enemy player, both take 100 damage. If they hit a breakable surface, they will break through it, taking the damage then. Enemies cannot break through more than one structure per throw. Enemies caught by the throw cannot shoot while heavy is holding them, or until they land.

This specializations short range and requirement to connect will give it decent skill requirement, but high skill expression, and significant versatility in lots of scenarios.

The disparity in points is correct. With what you're suggesting the system would be mathematically unbalanced, it would fail completely.

It is evidently not necessary. For as long as weapons have explicit counters all this really does is further disincentivise their inclusion in higher elos. Limiting the pool is a comprimise but I see no reason for it to be a superior route.

I have seen complainings about the sword, but they were nowhere near the amount of backlash after the Sledgehammer nerf. As for Model 1887, it has always been good at deleting lights but now is quite bad in 1v1 with other mediums and heavies. Many 1887 users now exclusively use it as a support weapon where teammates can provide just enough damage to kill the enemy with 1 less shot.

If Embark wants to prevent the 1887 and Sledgehammer from having that burst damage potential, then not nerfing SH1900 is just straight up hypocritical and unfair. Either buff back 1887 and sledge, or nerf double barrel alongside them.

@yulaw.z1#0000 Almost everything you mentioned about why SH1900 is not that good, is worse on Sledgehammer, because the heavy has no movement in the first place to close the gap, and being a melee weapon you obviously deal 0 damage to anyone beyond range unlike an actual gun. Sure it's better against groups, but the heavy attack got nerfed to not hit more than 1 people anymore so it's not like you can dive into a triple stack and get out alive easily, like it used to be.

I personally use the SH1900 a lot, and have secured many kills from 20m or so on low health enemies running away. It's a shotgun, yes, but still a gun that can shoot people unlike the Sledgehammer, which becomes completely useless without winch or charge even at half the range. If you seriously think Sledge has more range than Double Barrel, then unfortunately you're not very good at either of them.

And V9S and LH1 has equally bad pickrate because they're semi-autos. Automatic weapons and single-fire weapons are simpler and easier to use, and so will always be picked over even a slightly better semi-auto weapon, especially by light players who care more about getting frags than wins. LH1 should not be buffed because it's bad, it's still quite decent, but rather because the V9S can do that more cleanly.

But they don't understand that all the teams are at other cash and if i don't do something about the other team they will have more cash than our team. So i need to help the other lower cash teams to get their cash (griefing some may say) or get cash by kills to be the first place on cash amount. Which makes doubling or even spliting safer.

this really sucks when you're solo queue climbing though, i think it's been 4 times this season some guy that doesnt care about their rank queues up with their silver/bronze buddy in ranked and tank my score, being effectively down a teammate is a miserable experience for that third player and at the highest levels can be a guaranteed loss

Dear Devs,

Please take another look at the reload cancel mechanics for the Winch and KS23. Right now, winching without racking the slug is way too punishing, and the racking animation is already slow on its own. This feels like a coding issue, possibly a blanket rule applied to heavy shotguns that prevents reload canceling through winch or melee.

To be honest, I don’t believe the claims that some players have “figured it out.” I’ve spent close to 100 hours using the slug and have tested just about every scenario. As developers, I strongly encourage you to actually play The Finals more, especially with the KS23. Go into the practice range or the new one versus one arena and try using the slug against the light bot. Lights cannot dash in that mode, but even then, they either outrun or outmaneuver the KS23 with ease. The combination of slow fire rate, awkward handling, and poor accuracy makes it nearly impossible to win those fights.

The KS23 is fun. It is satisfying to use when it works. It is also one of the game’s oldest heavy weapons, and right now it feels completely neglected. It has not been in the meta since Season One, and it struggles in most engagements. That is disappointing.

For over a year now, the heavy shotgun has been left at the bottom while other classes received buffs they did not necessarily need. Yes, this game has always had a skill gap, but balancing weapons purely based on popularity without addressing core mechanical imbalances just pushes the heavy class further out of the equation. Since Season Three, heavy has arguably become one of the highest skill roles in the game, but it has not been supported accordingly.

Please give the KS23 another look. A small adjustment to its reload logic or responsiveness could make it not only more viable but more enjoyable for everyone involved.

It was pretty cool at first, we get a voiceline for people to request revives but please provide an option to turn it off.

Especially in Power Shift, its extremely annoying people spamming it and you having to focus on multiple things happening at once. It's distracting at at times, they will be back in a few seconds as well.

Something I think we should have as well is more quick communication while you’re dead. Taking inspiration from Splatoon 3 here, when you die you have the option to announce either “Ouch” or “Booyah!” before you respawn. I frequently use the former one to announce to my team “there’s still people over here”, or “danger, don’t go this way”. Even the second one has some uses, like announcing “This area is clear, good job”

Being able to have a few quick communication options upon death would be nice and help with coordination, especially to those on console who can’t easily use text chat. Being able to announce things like “Watch out”, or “Enemies here”, or even something along the lines of “He’s at 1hp” or “He’s low” could help out quite a bit. The only option I have that’s close to this is pinging for a revive in TDM to try and tell my teammates there are people near where I died

Regarding the V9S and LH1, the problem is that the two guns have some much situational overlap that its hard to buff one without making the other useless. The V9S suffers MASSIVELY from damage falloff, which is something I think should be fixed. It can't compete with most autos at close range, but past 15 meters its a peashooter, and since its a semi-auto you'd THINK that it would do better at range but nope. The LH1 on the other hand has a 55 meter falloff, with slightly higher dmg at the cost of RPM and mag size. Personally I think the LH1 should be upped to 45 dmg and the V9S should have an effective range of at least 20 meters.

Stop comparing apples with oranges. Double Barrel loses agains Model, Cerberus and SA12 (, even KS-23 is just as fast with 20m range) - all have more range and kills equally fast and are much more forgiving in regard of magsize. Your Complains = Skill Issue

Seldge is no competitor with his multihit and destruction ability. It's not same category. Compare it to sword. Funny enough that sledge is still picked (thx to winch claw/goo gun) while sword got dumped.

okay. i have a simple suggestion/request.

EVENT ITEMS. as we all know there is alot of funs events where you get cool rewards!, make them return!.
see the blast off event items i was unable to get due to literally being in the military and only having around 30 minutes a day to play a round or two.

but since the items where free, make them be a lower price then they would be in the store for their rarity. lets say the Legendary Tiger hat from the heavy hitters event, instead of being the usual 800 for a legendary, be 400 or 600 somewhere around that ball park.

it would also help players not stress so much about the Fomo stuff. as well know Fomo is really bad for a game.

Defibs need a rework like stun gun. They remove any agency from the game. It's a gadget that dictates how you have to play, a one way thing, you use it and it works the way you expect it to work.
It's a toxic gadget as the person who is getting defibbed has no control over getting defibbed and has a 50/50 chance of either being defibbed at the right time or at the wrong time and dying again. So instead of it acting like a revive it should actually work only on alive teammates and give them some sort of a benefit that they would much rather prefer than a 50% hp revive with 7 second cooldown on specialization/utillity.
If it was reworked to a useful utility people wouldn't feel bad for missing out on more utility because their teammates are toxic if they don't pick defibs.

it’s annoying to play a game in a five stack and want to split off to play WT or ranked but you have to decide who gets a full stack and who has to wait for a third or deal with a rando.

Any plans to address smurfing? The matchmaker is making "fair" lobbies but they're all level 40 with 50 wins and are very obviously smurfs. The matchmaker tells me that its an "easy" lobby but every game has at least 3 smurfs in it. Since its an "easy" lobby, when I lose, I lose 1000+RS. When I win, since its an easy lobby, I gain 100ish for coming third, and sub 500 for coming 2nd. How do you think this is ok?

38k-40k solo queue. 5 games in row where i go 10+ kills and in the end dsnt matter cuz when the game has 2 min left i got the 3 Teams with 3 different lights hounding us for double cash and then doesn’t matter u lose. 1 game where i am first seed and the 2 randoms left minute 1. I get into a game with 4 heavies and 3 have winch to drag me thrue corners, walls and bridges, has a 1 second stund and lingering hitbox. 70% of the médium population is using pyke which 3 taps lights in any spot in less then a second. This is the only season where i am so numb to the game play that it wouldnt surprise me if i see a world tour shield in a ranked cash. Ngl, it’s impressive how bad this feels, crazy this the best free fps on market. I am open to any recommendations.

So for me personal, in my opinion, I like the hardcoreness of this game. Ive been playing since season 3 and Im on my way to gold rank and its crazy.

So for me Ive never encountered something that I thougth was overpowered. I often think the game is good the way it is. When I get smashed with the hammer its because its a hammer. Sword and rpg same thing. I follow the patches and I dont like when something gets nerfed because people complain about getting killed by them.

The fact that you have to yell at the tv is part of the game. Its part of what makes it so good.

Just revert the melees and buff the other weapons. Reverting melees and buffing the other weapons would be a much better choice.

If you try to run an e-sport with the current state, it will definitely fail. E-sports need to be exciting to watch. Who would want to watch a boring pattern where players just shoot at each other from a distance until someone finally makes a mistake and dies, and only then the real action begins? That kind of slow, drawn-out pacing is boring.

You say Increasing the TTK emphasizes "teamwork"? No. That just means the weapons are too weak to do their job, so players are forced to gang up on enemies. When clutch plays become impossible at higher tiers like they are now, how is that going to make for a good e-sport? It won’t. At the very least, players need to be able to clutch sometimes. If one teammate goes down and the rest just have to fall back and wait for respawn, or get helplessly wiped out, that’s not good e-sports. That’s boring.
If you’re seriously preparing this game for e-sports, then fix the balance first. E-sports scene where only a few “usable” weapons appear isn’t fun. Revert and buff melee, and buff all underperforming weapons so we can see more variety in competitive play.

A strange movement rework or nerf would just keep sword stuck in the same weak state. Don’t change things in weird ways. You should never make changes that ruin a weapon’s identity. Stop trying to balance by nerfing everything. You haven’t even succeeded with that approach. Nerfs aren’t fun. The game needs to be fun.

Back in Seasons 1 and 2, people were having fun, and the player count was at its highest. The game was doing fine back then. But people left the game because cheaters weren’t dealt with in time and were left unchecked. It wasn’t because of the balance issue (excluding Nuke). Devs made the stupid choice to listen to nerf whiners, and that’s what ruined the game more and more.

the only real reason to use it over goo nades is that it can be deployed faster, but any prop/object near its vicinity will prevent its deployment often getting you killed while you scramble to place it down.

It should ignore basic props like flowerpots, destroying them if placed directly on them, along with being able to be placed on contestant trophies, pushing them away.

Asking to get a buff for the AK and Fcar on medium, I use to main Fcar and now I have to main AK due to the K having more ammo. The body shots on the fcar feel weak at certain ranges especially close so I think a buff in damage (just a little), range, and maybe even another magazine buff would help the fcar just a little more I also think a faster fire rate could do amazing things on both weapons for medium

I think you do not understand that the system will literally collapse if you add any significant imbalance to it. You would either have rapid elo inflation or deflation, which is not acceptable.

I’m not really sure what this has to do with creativity. Strategies to counter certain weapons are not exactly something one has to be imaginative to understand and simply make the balance worse. It’s an issue if any player wishes to run one of those weapons in a competitive environment.

Please, nerf SH1900 damage from 1315 (195) to 1115 (165) per shot. This would make it actually require point blank range to be effective, and require a quick melee to finish off a heavy just like dagger backstab.

Currently with it's absurdly high 390 damage per magazine, I kill lights at 15-20 metre range even with just 1 shot. This is not because I'm very good, this weapon is just that OP. I personally don't even try to go point blank anymore, the tremendous damage lets me kill all enemies from a safe distance, which also lets me escape and reload easily.

This nerf would not really change the stk, but rather it would make the SH1900 users actually get close to get the kills. Sure against Heavies it would no longer 2-shot them, but at that range you can just finish em off with a quick melee just like a dagger backstab.

Speaking of dagger, even that don't get to finish off Heavies with a proper backstab, yet the SH1900 can from any direction. That's not very cool now, is it? Sure the SH1900 forces you into a poke playstyle, but that extra damage really makes engagement at midrange easier than they should be.

You guys nerfed Cerberus, Sledgehammer, 1887 and even the Sword for their massive burst damage, but you left SH1900 as it. As others have already pointed out, the double barrels are simply too oppressive in its current state, so nerf them asap. You don't have to cater to the popular streamers for every balance change, that's not very healthy for the longevity of a game.

Separate dress cosmetics into two pieces (upper and lower body) as opposed to the current full outfit system, it's terrible. For example, season 1's dark ballerina skin. Using the top for an outfit would be really fun, and having the skirt as its own piece opens up extra options as-well. More headgears should be compatible with face accessories, for instance the "Descartes' Demon" item not being compatible with glasses/half face masks is an actual joke, why would the mask (positioned on the upper right of the head) overlap a mask that only covers the nose and under? Makes 0 sense.

Also, nerf aim-assist or light as a whole.

Super dash is one of the few advantages sword has over weapons like DB and Dagger. A strange movement rework or nerf would just keep sword stuck in the same weak state, even with the 140 dmg lunge.
Common sense tells us that nerfing just the hit sweep already made sword very weak, and you acknowledged that by reverting it.
In fact, nerfing the movement is basically the same as nerfing both movement and hit sweep at the same time, so it’s an even bigger nerf. If that happens, sword will just be a weaker version of the already weak Dagger. You should never make changes that ruin a weapon’s identity.

I think suggestions about removing multi-hit entirely are heading in the right direction, but the extent feels a little bit excessive. But what the sword truly needs is its original dmg and movement. So if I were to make one suggestion: a way to maintain multi-hit while keeping both of those, it should involve making the primary target take 140 dmg and non-primary targets take slightly less. But current 25% dmg reduction is trash. even non-primary targets should take more dmg than that.

Restricting aiming during a lunge effectively nerfs movement, hit sweep, and aiming itself all at once, making it one of the worst nerfs. This is like not being able to move your mouse while aiming with a gun.

If they're going to make such a terrible nerf, you should just 'remove multi hit entirely', which I previously said was excessive. The reason for excessively turning your aim during a lunge is for multi hit, so if you remove multi hit, there's no reason to limit aiming, so there's no need for an aim restriction patch. Once again, Restricting aim during lunge is an even worse patch than the current dmg nerf. It is such a terrible change that it makes the sword completely useless, to the point where I would actually agree with removing multi-hit entirely.

But, I think just revert sword and melees would be totally fine. You can always buff other weapons instead. Pls just revert.

please give us the option to change the zoom and also version of different scopes/ sights based on our preference. For example on red dot give us the option from 1.0 to 1.1, 1,2 and 1.3 zoom because even with most weapons having the same zoom on most sights some are still outliers having more or less and having that little extra quality of life and control would be nice. Costumizing dot size would also be nice as it differs quite a lot depending on if ur using xp, famas, m60 or what not. Also on the adder reflex, it has 2 different versions depending on the gun its equiped on, on some the redical is big as the arn and on some its very small like xp and to my knowledge that doesnt have to do with the actual zoom u get. Give us the option to change which version of the sight we want to use on each gun.

I like the new spring outfit, but was it really necessary to make the skirt so short? One of the things that makes The Finals stand out is the lack of sexualization of its female characters, but I’m afraid they might slowly start heading toward the typical (and awful) approach of most video games, where the focus is always the same — mainly sexualizing female characters.

Here is a list of weapons that need to be buffed but not make them overpowered in the next balance patch

Spear: increase the first swing damage in the combo from 65 to 70 making it 70, 80, 90 and increase the spin attack damage to 120

KS-23: increase the projectile speed to 500m/s and either give it a 1.2x headshot multiplier or decrease the fire rate to 73 RPM and increase the player damage to 120

Riot shield: increase the movement speed when blocking

R.357: increase the fire rate from 140 to 160 RPM

Dual blades: make the Deflect more consistent so it can block all melee weapons and increase the first swing damage from 50 to 55, increase the second swing damage from 60 to 65 and increase the final attack damage from 65 to 75 and make it so the final attack can be done faster and increase the movement speed when deflecting by just a little bit and make it so the blades deflect pellets from shotguns more consistently because right now it's bugged and it deflects more pellets at a certain range

AKM: increase magazine capacity to 34, 35 or 36, the choice is yours on what number you choose

ARN-220: decrease the duration of the tactical reload animation from 2.45s to 2.30s, decrease the duration of the full reload animation from 2.80s to 2.60s

Data Reshaper: increase the charges from 2 to 3 and decrease the cooldown from 26s to 20s

Apparently the quote that a few of Arc Raider devs have pointed to The Finals recent 13% decline is due to a "Crisis in common sense balancing". Apparently the ARC Raider team is reveling in the fact that they have better weapon/gadget balancing in a beta than The Finals has after 7 seasons.

I think internal competition between teams is healthy, but it looks like the ARC Raider devs are trying point out that toxic game design and balancing is holding The Finals back and why its declining.

Day 8 of asking for a infected mode for the future halloween update with survivors and infected (zombie or what ever halloween skins u cook up) outfits where 2-3 ppl start out as infected having to kill the suvivors and turn them running around with daggers while the suvivors get normal weapons some should be obtainable in the game mode and some outfit purchasable the infected and survivors should get gadgets and important that the infected get 1 throwing knive in theyre gadget slot that can kill a survivor from range

Few Ideas for some mechanics:

-Zombie spawns should be fast
-Once Zombie turns a survivor the suvivor gets infected on the spot
-If the Zombies should not be able to turn anyone give them some type of comeback mechanic at the last 2 minutes or so (stronger,faster, etc.)
-I think multiple fast rounds would be more fun
-Heavly halloween decorated map maybe change the light more dark and griddy

Make each spear spin manual so there is skill expression and u r not stuck at spinning and u won't get any suggestions from others and they don't touch the damn spear

93r less time gap between bursts and slightly less fire rate of burst as each burst is so quick it might as well be on bullet being fired and buff damage to compensate for lower and manageable fire rate.So u can fire slowly to make it more accurate or keep firing it like an auto so u can switch between the two and u have flexibility.

The ks23 needs a slight quicker projectile speed as even in medium range u have to guess where they will be or it misses.
The main problems r heavies and a headshot buff 1.2x would fix everything and u need skill atleast.

Ks23 also need wall penetration but weaker damage after one wall for balance.

Rank is not the only measurement of skill people can be boosted they can be smurfs and many such reason across many competitive games such cs,valorant,R6s even hero shooters like overwatch etc ranks is not the only measurement of skill ( there is a difference between killing and k/d it means how many fights u win on average rather than how many fights u have won +though killing is not the objective of the game it is good measurement for skill,I completely agree kill is not purely required for winning the game but it helps a lot hence a skill ).
I do understand any imbalance would lead to deflation or inflation in rank that's is why the points system needs a overhaul, the current system is highly discouraging especially psychologically, a scale of 2500 points per rank in which you lose -700 points for coming 4th and gain 50 points for coming 4th for the same difficulty level is not good, it inconsistent.
As for counter picking as I said its a necessary evil is someone for some reason is running a loadout which counters your you would always lose not because he is better but because of counter pick now in this scenario you are losing the fight and you can do nothing cause you didnt predict what a random player would bring in his loadout this is why it would give you more creativity to change your loadout and fight him properly in turn changing game environment bringing adaptability in the game.(again look at other competitive game they all allow you to change weapon in between match after death cause you cant predict what random players will bring in there loadout + again i say this has never been an issue in worldtour amd you can limit reserve pool to 2 for rank)

I have 740 wins im getting teammates in solo Q ranked who are unranked and have 30 wins and cant rank up for the life of me this season. I solo Qed diamond before and came back to try again and its just miserable. Everyone keeps saying to play casual but i thought the whole aesthetic of the finals and charm of the game was the competition so i dont understand why its all split up into 3 different ranked categories. It takes 10 plus minutes to get into a PC lobby because of changes like this. Teammates in casual are people i wish i had in ranked because they play just as well or even just for fun which keeps the game fresh. In season 1 and 2 the sillyness and competitive nature of this game went hand in hand together and i ranked up because i wanted to play the game every day. I never touched casual once and had a blast. Even when i lost in ranked i felt like i could get it back by just tightening up and playing a little more seriously. Now adays teammates are usually just new players and console players who have nothing to give to the match. Things stay pretty stale and its really tiring. Sometimes teammates wont even get a kill the whole game while im trying to grab onto a desperate wipe and steal. Given that matchmaking has been broken since season two, being one of the most unfair systems ever made in the video game industry, and you're not going to do anything about it, and I doubt you can do anything for the few players left playing the game...

Could you at least add a preference for what kind of teammate you want for those of us who can't complete a team of 3 (solo players)? For example, my preference would be not to play with players who use light, preferring medium or heavy, since 99% of the lights who play solo have brain damage or something like that.

I would be grateful for this feature.

Here is a list of weapons that need to be buffed but not make them overpowered in the next balance patch

Spear: increase the first swing damage in the combo from 65 to 70 making it 70, 80, 90 and increase the spin attack damage to 120

KS-23: increase the projectile speed to 500m/s and either give it a 1.2x headshot multiplier or decrease the fire rate to 73 RPM and increase the player damage to 120

Riot shield: increase the movement speed when blocking

R.357: increase the fire rate from 140 to 160 RPM

Dual blades: make the Deflect more consistent so it can block all melee weapons and increase the first swing damage from 50 to 55, increase the second swing damage from 60 to 65 and increase the final attack damage from 65 to 75 and make it so the final attack can be done faster and increase the movement speed when blocking and deflecting and make it so the blades deflect pellets from shotguns more consistently because right now it's bugged and it deflects more pellets at a certain range and the bullets come out of the person's head instead of their gun, pls fix the bug

AKM: increase magazine capacity to 34, 35 or 36, the choice is yours on what number you choose

ARN-220: decrease the duration of the tactical reload animation from 2.45s to 2.30s, decrease the duration of the full reload animation from 2.80s to 2.60s

@potent solar its called "wall hacks". Im willing to bet something like 30% of the players in this game or more are using "sOfT cHeAtS" (which is just regular cheating but these kids think calling something else justifies it).
Once you know what the tells are, it becomes super obvious when someone is cheating. Like throwing out random sonar nades that dont ping anyone yet they always seem to know where you are even if you are invis healing in a random area of the map.
Embark doesnt ban them despite multiple reports, so just get used to it I guess. 🤷‍♂️

Heavy body type 04 still has a very tiny ass. Miniscule at this point. Inexplicably underdeveloped.

If you look at real life male bodybuilders, they pack much more there than you gave heavy to work with. I have said it before and I will say it again; this choice to deprive heavy body type 04 from a proportionally muscular bottom comes from the toxic masculinity-esque expectation that a man cannot be proud of and work towards his big ass. I find it very discriminatory, especially when it is highlighted in a muscular male.

And so I ask, "what is being said with muscular male heavy having a small ass?". And sadly I think the answer is that you seem to think that being muscular gives little emphasis to a big ass. That a male who decides to put work into a stronger body with higher muscle mass is a male who does not care about the beauty and size of his ass; that he has made a choice opposite to that of a fat heavy, or a light or medium. This is not reflective of what a bodybuilding body type is. It is discriminatory and outside of any representation, and it deprives us of a beautiful sight in-game.

Heavy body type 04 needs a proportionally adequate butt size.

Super dash is one of the few advantages sword has over weapons like DB and Dagger. A strange movement rework or nerf would just keep sword stuck in the same weak state, even with the 140 dmg lunge.
Common sense tells us that nerfing just the hit sweep already made sword very weak, and you acknowledged that by reverting it.
In fact, nerfing the movement is basically the same as nerfing both movement and hit sweep at the same time, so it’s an even bigger nerf. If that happens, sword will just be a weaker version of the already weak Dagger. You should never make changes that ruin a weapon’s identity.

I think suggestions about removing multi-hit entirely are heading in the right direction, but the extent feels a little bit excessive. But what the sword truly needs is its original dmg and movement. So if I were to make one suggestion: a way to maintain multi-hit while keeping both of those, it should involve making the primary target take 140 dmg and non-primary targets take slightly less. But current 25% dmg reduction is trash. even non-primary targets should take more dmg than that.

Restricting aiming during a lunge effectively nerfs movement, hit sweep, and aiming itself all at once, making it one of the worst nerfs. This is like not being able to move your mouse while aiming with a gun.

If they're going to make such a terrible nerf, you should just 'remove multi hit entirely', which I previously said was excessive. The reason for excessively turning your aim during a lunge is for multi hit, so if you remove multi hit, there's no reason to limit aiming, so there's no need for an aim restriction patch. Once again, Restricting aim during lunge is an even worse patch than the current dmg nerf. It is such a terrible change that it makes the sword completely useless, to the point where I would actually agree with removing multi-hit entirely.

But, I think just revert sword and melees would be totally fine. You can always buff other weapons instead. Pls just revert.

Embark, the game needs some serious changes to stave off the massive 13% and dropping player counts. The reality is that players, even some with 1500+ hours like myself, are just sick and tired of cheesy BS weapons and gadgets.

Rebalance the CL-40 Grenade Launcher

  • Remove the 50 cm inner blast radius entirely, making damage scale linearly with its outside blast radius.
  • Increase direct damage to reward the player for actually skillfully using the weapon.
  • Increase the self-damage to 1.75x-2.00x so that CL-40 users aren't rewarded for running around at CQC and shooting at point blank. The weapon is designed for Powershift and Terminal attack to break the defensive team's defenses, not a bunny hopping 1v1 CQC monster.

Nerf Double-Barrel Shotgun

  • Nerf the damage to 165. This gives Mediums a fighting chance if the Double Barrel user half-misses their shot spread. This also makes it so that Heavys can't be two-shot, but instead require a follow-up quick melee to finish.

Unlimited Ammunition needs to be removed

  • Its honestly asinine that a weapons with such absurd levels of alpha damage like the Throwing Knives and Bow have unlimited ammunition to spam attacks. Unlimited ammo destroys any sense of a gunfight where excellent movement can cause the opponent to run out of ammo. Even if the ammo count is high, both Throwing Knives and Bow need to have limited ammo, requiring them to reload.

Remove the Defibs

  • Remove the Defib already. Its useless in TDM and just super toxic and unrewarding to kill a player only for his buddy to just insta-revive them. Plus as a Medium I'm sick and tired of running the damn things in World Tour and Ranked. Just remove them and be done with the BS.

Remove Cloak

  • Remove the Cloak specialization, its absolute cancer and the biggest crutch there is.
  • Remove Vanish bomb, its actually the biggest offender as it allows the Light to practically run two of the specializations at once. Again this is supposed to be a competitive shooter, this cheesy one-sided BS has no place in a game like this.

Glitch Traps have been banned in tournaments for over a year now because they just dont function predictably and attach to players at 10+ meters which isnt their intended range, they are also incredibly unfun to fight against and provide way too much value with zero risk.

I HATE THIS MATCHMAKING! None of my friends play The Finals so obviously I've been playing this game alone with randoms since the beginning but the matchmaking is just awful and always have been. I have to mention that 80% of time I get paired up with players that have 0 Game sense 0 actual skills to play they don't listen to comms, eventhough I got more then decent stats. This is a general problem, but the thing that pissed me off to actually take time and rant over this is that I got paired up with premades.. They have 900 dmg all game put together I carry them to the next round, and we got lucky aswell. I REPORT AND BLOCK THEM!!!!!!!!! (for not listening to comms and leaving me out of the teamplay, letting me die etc.). Next round we got destroyed surprise surprise. Okay we got some points at least for being 4th (lmao, its WT btw). I carry on every 3rd or 4th game is like this.. GG go next, but then, what can I see??? THE SAME GUYS AS TEAMMATES IN THE NEXT ROUND!! HOW??! I literally pressed the block button twice, what is that function for if It doesn't make any difference?? And once again surprise surprise they do nothing we get destroyed being 8th and how fun I wasted 1 HOUR of my time getting 4 points. What “buffs”? Dagger, Dual Blades, Riot Shield, Sledgehammer, and Spear got absolutely fuck-all, and Sword had its identity and playstyle literally annihilated instead of just reverting the lunge damage nerf that wasn’t even needed in the first place.

Dagger

  • Undoes literally none of the nonstop nerfs that turned the secondary attack into worthless trash

Sword

  • Literally guts Lunge into worthless trash with angle cap and Evasive Dash synergy reduction
  • The damage “buff” is a slap in the fucking face, 120 damage is utterly worthless trash versus Medium and Heavy
    • You even intentionally made it so literally neither of the old two breakpoints versus Medium that were literally vital to Sword are possible
    • Lunge x2 requires 125
    • Lunge + QM + Primary requires 136
  • You instead turned Sword into M1-spambot, because that’s uhhhhhhhhhhh, SOOO much more fun and skill expressive for anyone on either side of the equation

  • “Here, have a 10% faster attack, lol”
  • Does fuck all for anything else

Thoughts on the sword rework:

With 105 lunge you could still technically kill mediums with 2 lunges and a quickmelee. With the new buffs it seems like they want primary attack to be a good combo tool. Even then, it doesn't matter. 120+88+40 = 248 so it doesn't even combo well against mediums without a second lunge or a single tracking dart.

I think the initial nerf was a bandaid fix, so they wouldn't have to remove the weapon from the game while they reworked it (like stun gun), because then they wouldn't have to worry about people asking "when is sword coming back?".

Is the rework good? Probably, I haven't tried it yet. Is the damage good? not really? It just spamming primary attack stronger than it already was, which is more frustrating to fight than the lunge. Are people overreacting about the buff? Yes.

The reactions to the sword nerf and recent buff are stupid, because this would be like lights celebrating the sledge nerf. (I main light, but I still play a lot of medium or heavy if the team comp needs it) I also was a sledge main, because I love the melee weapons in this game and I would love nothing more than for all of them to be usable and good, even as a specialist pick rather than a generalist option.

my frustration with the description on melee goals is that it already felt like melee was in a decently reasonable place a few seasons back. sword and sledge were both decent-to-good at all levels of play without being genuine honest-2-god meta outside of maybe winch sledge on defense, which is both- yeah instagibbing anyone caught in an ambush was part of the appeal of that weapon and also more winch's fault than sledge's fault.

Finals caught my attention in the first place in part because of the way it handles melee, so this stretch where there wasn't a single melee weapon in the game I'd call good didn't feel so great. We'll see how the sword buff pans out with time, but I don't like it whenever I get the feeling that the fun playstyles are being whittled away in favor of something more typical and controlled.

I second this... but if you must continue doing them make the 4 failed rolls a free pick instead of another ticket, I'm so unlucky I rolled 2 bad spots on my second and third rolls of the season.

however I do like ball game mode is fun. a shame that these kinds of game modes don't stay fun if constantly done as seen with terminal attack and even a little with team death match.

should rotate 2 or 3 of the event game modes as to not split the player base and servers so much. I wouldn't be sad if power shift got shelved for a little bit if I knew it would come back as long as another brain off mode like deathmatch was still active.

This isn't a game decided by winning fights. Why use that to measure how good someone is, when you can just measure how good they are at winning? Smurfs and such are an issue but I don't see what this would really change; if they're playing badly to keep their RS down then their KD could easily be low too? Players in a support role would also be disproportionately favoured.
It's also critical to note that the K/D of a silver and a platinum player for example may be approximately equal, because their lobbies will differ in difficulty.

Now, you could use a kill-based elo system, which would bypass the problem I just mentioned. However I still do not see how this could be as good as just using regular RS.
Not sure what you mean by the difficulty level thing, that's just a visual impreciseness. But I would agree that it would be better if it could be more precise, to avoid people interpreting it weirdly.
How do you think it should be reworked? An elo system pretty much must work like this for it to be fair, this is how it works in every other similar system I've seen - though perhaps the four-team nature of the tournaments leads to it appearing less fair due to the fact that it doesn't take into account time cost, being a measure of success in matches of highly variable length. I've heard many players state that that concept made it feel less fair.

Again, "necessary evil" but it's clearly not necessary. We do perfectly fine as-is.
You will not see an enemy team running a loadout that requires counterpicking to defeat - the game just is not really balanced as such. I do not think this positive is at all significant when compared to the negative of making nicher picks unworkable. Many similar do not have the same problem due to their own balances, so it would not be a big deal there.

suggestion for defib overhaul:
What if you came back at full health, but you were nullified as if you'd just gotten hit with the nullifier, and weren't technically alive until you solidified? The enemy could still team wipe you during that period and it wouldn't count as an extra death. Since movement and positioning are such a big part of the game, this could get the defib'd member outside enemy sights and allow the whole team to regroup, plus it would eliminate defibbing to distract enemies.

It will be a hand emote for the left hand (As every other hand emote) which tosses a coin (With a very satisfaction sound effect, like the ULTRAKILL's one) and then grab it in the air and the emote finishes

It would be so cool since, the enemies get coined, it would be a very gentle but cool flex

For the first time in here lemme say this:

Thank you Embark for listening and positively addressing the melee weapon issue that plagued the game for a long time. Using a melee weapon feels way more fun now and every weapon got a buff that it really needed without overdoing it at the start. It is also very refreshing and assuring to hear that you will continue to improve melee as a playstyle and iron out some of the cheesiness of them but also giving them buffs to not need to rely on cheesing the weapon. I hope we see more buffs for other weapons like the shotguns so that we have a healthy rock-paper-scissor loop for CQC.

One wish i have is to be able to use VRs on all or a limited amount of items on the Wheels since they felt reasonable before but now tend to feel slimy or predatory with the FOMO of the limited full outfit. Also please reconsider adjusting the price of the Ultimate Battle Pass to 20$ since the current price point seems a bit high and a few things in the Pass seem to be either uneeded or filler like the XP boosts or level skip. Also reconsider making the time-exclusive since they currently undermine the introduction of the best feature: Legacy Battle Passes.

I also want to say a sincere thanks for ensuring Linux compatibility in a gaming landscape that demonizes the operating system and refuses to support it.
I think this patch note was able to instill some confidence and trust in the game for players.

I believe you are purely focusing on the kill aspect of my discussion regarding the assignment of tournament difficulty i believe it should be a aggregate of different factors such as kill damage support point objective points etsc and not just ranked(i am against the fact difficulty of tournament is assigned purely on basis of rank).
Yes the four system nature of this game makes it look unfair in comparison to different games that is why the assignment of difficulty to the tournament and in turn the point allocation needs to change and hence i started by asking for rank point system overhaul.
My point from the start for allowing us to change weapon/gadget is that it would be quality of life change first, and i would like to give e,g for that. 1st Imagine u que in a match with a revolver but your aim is not there(which happens a player can not be consistently good every single time) now your team suffers since you are not able to play good if you had the choice to change weapon you can to ak or fcar and you can provide more for the team.2nd you have started matchmaking and the game start but you went to the washroom now you have loaded in the game with a loadout that is not your main now your team and u suffer because of that.There are countless such example to why weapon/gadget switch will be a quality of life change and as you said yourself in your message the final doesnt have hard meta and thus counterpicking wont be an big issue in this game and as i said earlier if it would be that big of an issue people would complain about it in world tour

I am a bit confused by the logic with the sword buffs (or return to previous values). The patch notes hit heavily on trying to eliminate "tech" in general except in "rare cases" where they see it as a mechanic. they include the "super lunge" as an example of a tech that is fun to master but is:

"for others, it’s frustrating. It’s unintuitive, often invisible, and disproportionately strong."

So they go on to make some very minor changes to what is possible with this tech by only altering the potential range by a few meters. Now that is "fixed" I can go back to geting jump scared and one shotted by sword players creeping the whole match and lunging+meleeing for an instant kill.

Get the value to 180 atleast or 150 degrees, just tested and I take back a few things. The dagger buff was a joke. It only helps with the primary attack, which was never the problem with dagger. This update does not help anyone except people who cannot hit backstabs. At that point go play sword if you just want to primary attack, it is slightly better for that. This sort of stuff is where the meme about how embark wants you to play dagger by just using primary attack comes from.

please for power shift, the enemy team should have to push it the same distance in overtime. The fact they auto win if they just get to center makes it feel like all the hard effort you did to push it the distance you did especially if its farther was for nothing. This would make power shift a lot more enjoyable and rewarding.

Hey Guys Im new to this comunity(I mean TF discord channal), which I repersent a sowrd player community of a contury(secrate), my friends inside this community told me to upload some opnnions about the new sword "update" ( our community have six lvl 11 sword and perhaps Im the first lvl 11 sowrd in asia, and perhaps the first lvl 11 teleport in aisa too) . What we want to say is that , the new 40 degree limit is so bad ,that not just a weaken ,but a very unconfortble change on the use of sword. I think many of high lvl sword player usually change their view when using super dash , not just for trun the sword to enimy,but another thing is this let us can see our back , which is enimys we just pass through, this help us to get information and perpare our next attack to that enimy ( you know if we dont pass through the enimy, its easy for him to use weapon to eliminate us even in close range). This rotate of our view is very very importent. but the 40 limit just lock our view which make us cant collect information and very uncofortble . ( sry for my english is very bad).

With every update, there are just more, and more, and more, and more EXCUSES trying to justify this video game's huge imbalance... when the answer is very simple.

  • The current game could be balanced quite decently if only the Heavy and Medium classes existed, because there's only a 100 HP difference between them, which is manageable.

  • The current game is IMPOSSIBLE to balance because there's a 200 HP difference between Heavy and Light, which is an INSURMOUNTABLE CRAZINESS, and the main problem will continue to exist forever... Everything that does logical damage against Heavy, DESTROYS the Light class. And everything that does logical damage against Light just TICKLES the Heavy class.

The solution is very simple and anyone who studied primary school math knows it... That HUGE difference needs to be reduced, and we've been telling Embark this for almost 2 years...
Heavy should have 320 HP, Medium should stay at 250 HP, and Light should have 180 HP, thus reducing the difference between Heavy and Light from 200 HP to 140 HP, and the game would be much easier to balance. 320HP/250HP/180HP and not 350HP/250HP/150HP, it's too OBVIOUS not to see it...

If you don't want to do it, then don't, but then accept that the game will NEVER be properly balanced. And the greater the HP difference between classes, the more, and more, and more difficult it will be to balance the game correctly for basic mathematical and logical reasons... Stop making excuses. Be responsible and take action... There is no other solution than to reduce the HP gap between classes. If you don't understand it... well, I wouldn't even know what to tell you... If you don't understand it, it's because you shouldn't be making a competitive game like The Finals... With all due respect...

the sword changes are awesome and I think it does a lot for the weapon but I feel the current rotation lock is a little limiting as the sword does not want to dash directly into people, I think if the rotation was bumped to 70-80 degrees the weapon would be more palatable and feel better to use, while not lettig people become a human fidget spinner

I love this update... but I do have some things I want to say

  1. Design philosophy. In the patch notes, you discussed how your design around "tech" is to remove it, except in some circumstances where it is fair for both the user and opponents. I am no game designer, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think that when someone discovers tech, instead thinking "oh this is unfair, we should remove it." I would think "oh this is cool, how can we balance it?". Again, I'm no game dev so do whatever you want but this is just my opinion

  2. Sword... again. First off: THANK YOU! A damage buff without nerfing superdash too much (the restriction was a good idea) is what we wanted. However, this wasn't my idea of a buff. The left click damage buff is unnecessary, as it only makes the medium combo a little bit faster, and the speed nerf makes it worse in some cases. Imo, the only damage change should have been the lunge going to 140, just to make the heavy matchup bearable again, as before and currently it just takes a little too long. Not saying I don't think this buff was what sword needed, I just think it was a little less than what I was hoping for.
    Edit: Ok maybe less of an angle lock?

  3. Melee as a whole. This one is a minor nitpick, the hit sweep buffs are nice but I was hoping for some other buffs

Again, I'm not trying to sound like I hate this update (because I don't), but there are some things I want to bring up. Can't wait for future melee buffs!

the cashboxes despawning after overtime is reached is for sure a great change that does kinda help the 2nd place team and is a step in the right direction to prevent griefing but it still is not enough, 99% of the time both cashboxes are deposited before overtime starts so this change doesn't do much, an actual hard fix for griefing would be preventing the doubling of the last cashout all together, 3rd and 4th place teams shouldn't have a catch up mechanic if they are that far behind anyway, if you played like shit the entire game should you be rewarded for in the last 2 mins of the match? doesn't make much sense

Loving the melee changes so far! I think the only big note immediately is that I agree with the rotation clamping for sword, but i think 40 degrees is far too limiting, like even for the balance philosophy. Id argue for something more like 80 degrees? Its a weird thing cuz too big of an angle enables the bad feeling of getting 360'ed by a sword, and too little feels like the weapon has no breathing room and adds more weaknesses to a weapon that can already get easily shut down. (Edit: after trying it a bit more, im unsure if 80 is too big, actually. maybe 60? Who knows)

Regardless, i think the steps taken in this update are the right ones! Thank you! I really appreciate you guys listening to the community and implementing feedback, even when it is... harshly worded to put it lightly.

So stoked you gave some love to melee, a lot of people were hoping. And it’s awesome sword is buffed again. Didn’t expect the damage for both main and alternate attacks to be increased, nor did I expect the lunge distance and speed to be increased, but I’m here for it.
The rotation clamping is also a very cool idea. I remember how I’d be able to lunge ahead of someone and swooce right around and poke them in the face, which didn’t feel 100% intended. Excited to try the sword out some more now.

So now the final vault disappears, and if the first two teams have already secured their spots, the match essentially continues only to determine third place? If two teams both secure two first cashouts each, the last vault has little to no value.

Instead, once a team is guaranteed to advance to the next round, they should automatically enter spectator mode. Otherwise, they just interfere with the match by griefing or intentionally boosting other teams. Only the teams still fighting for qualification should remain active. Allowing a qualified team to stay and influence the outcome makes the competition unfair

P.S. Not the box is griefing matches, but players!

Im angry, disapointed and MUTCH more. What the FUCK embark, the sword movment nerf made it unplayable for me, you should just have made it like it was in S3 (without phantom hits). The primary attack is to strong, you shuldnt be able to mindlessly swing, thats what I always hated mindless swining. the secondary at 120 is fine imo but the movment nerfs are UNBAREBLE. call it a skill-dif on my end but I always made sword work somehow. i really like that the new mode is highlighting melee, and it would be cool if we could see more funny modes like this, maybe as a weekly rotating mode thing.
some of these modes (like the current one) could not only bring more attention to niche playstyles, but it could also allow the average player to have their eyes open to what goes on in the heads of these niche players (although with only melee and no ranged weapons, they don't really get the full picture of what it takes to make melee work in the finals)

For dupes with "The Wheel", allow them to add up to creating "Super Tickets" (instead of regular tickets) with a guaranteed win/item. It's bonkers that someone can earn every ticket possible during the event, and not finish with everything.

I also don't play sword much, my sword is lvl 4 (red), but I came to your game because of the special gameplay, and the option to play melee weapons when I was bored of playing guns. That was one thing that separated your game from other games.
I strongly disagree with a design choice like the turn limit. For me that design is against everything I believed your game stood for. Fluidity in movement, etc.

Option to preview the default voice that your face / headwear provides. It does it automatically when you press the voice tab while your in the 'create new outfit mode' but not when just normal editing your contestant

Also have the option next to faces / headwear than change your voice to preview the voice there too. As some headwear like the TV head and battlepass robot heads give you a unique voice that overrides the voice tab

Hi, my name is Edel and I am a Sword Main, almost 200h and i only use this weapon, not mainly, only.

To be honest, even with the big nerfs, the sword was still viable for people that mained it like me. I always was in positive KDA and sometimes even most damage of my team. I never got the skill to properly use "techs" so the phantom strike was never a thing I used.
But i do understand for new player, the weapon was impossible got get the hand on.

The probleme before was :

  • Techs
    Im happy that techs are getting removed (even if reducing the Dash + Leap distance is really bad in my opinion, because the weapon has no distance option, so at least give it some speed to catch up.

  • Leap
    Sword player mainly used leap, as if it was the main attack on the weapon and I understabd that Embark is trying to lean more into the slashing aspect of it, and i like it.

"False Buff" :
Increasing the damage but nerfing the leap is actually in my opinion a bad idea. It get's it more "easy" for new players, but caps the skill level wayyyy lower, really punishing for sword mains...

Like, does the sword really need to get this much damage ? Even when it was 75 strike and 105 leap, it was bad but still playable.
I just have the feeling that increasing to 88 strike 120 leap will just make it more frustrating for other players.
Maybe find a middle ?
(but the one shot light was needed)

"Camera Lock Probleme" :

I understand that the 360° was a big probleme, but reducing the mobility to 40° angle is frustrating, it gets on my nerves. Like you feel restrained as if I couldn't moove. Its really punishing even in mobility because i feel that im leaping straight to my death. Because it locks my in my direction and can't escape from it.

Solution :
Lock the angle to 80-90° left to right. In total you would have 160°-180° to play with, it keeps from spinning and you wouldn't be able to hit people that you "missed" or dashed through

I know helicoptering with sword was a problem, and the clamp is the right way to curb it, but 40 degrees is so small. You can't even look down when lunging at someone, so fighting on stairs and roofs is impossible now. At least make it 60 degrees to each side and clamp only horizontal camera movement. Also the clamp just makes quick melees harder to hit, so just allow people to turn their camera past the clamp whithout the hitbox following it.

Hi embark! Love you guys but I'm super confused at what the heavy load out is supposed to be in cashball?? Were we supposed to be defense? Cause if so the load out does not match. I'm curious why barricades when the hoop is taller than the wall, and dome shield is so situational. Lockbolt is great but like, heavy really needed goo grenades or goo gun to be actually useful and not just kill farming.

Loving the sword changes Embark. I love the idea of forcing lights to commit to a lunge and the cone lock is a fantastic addition.

But did you have to buff the primary attack too?

Looking forward to Spear and Dual Blades getting a similar treatment in terms of bringing them up to par. I’m hopeful the desync issues with Dagger will be addressed sooner rather than later but I understand it’s a difficult issue to solve. 💋

The changes to Cashout still change nothing like 95% of the time.
It almost always gets doubled like at the 2 minute mark and gets doubled almost instantly, and if it doesn't it just is being held at the opposite side of the map by another team.

Make doubling have some interaction time to deposit the cashbox like when you plant the key in Terminal Attack.

We finally got Cashout changes, but it barely did anything.

Bro if you find the 360 spin sword op, just remove multi hit and make it 180. It's like you really wanna keep the multi hit. but you chose to making the sword can only turn 40 degrees when lunging.

The super dash nerf is a great choice. I like that choice but you shouldn't decrease the overall distance when using it, that is idiotic.

Why did you have to physically lock the camera angle when using Sword's lunge? You could make it so the camera can still be freely moved but the player's model is locked to the 40 degree zone, meaning the hitreg remains the way it is now. (I'd personally rather it be reverted entirely, but this would at least make your new design feel better to use.)

Also, lunge+QM+primary should kill Medium, especially since you nerfed the lunge's angles so badly. Buff the lunge damage (preferably) or primary damage (not so preferably) so that this 3-hit combo works (even if just barely).

I think perhaps characters that were already wearing the face now have Devourer effect on every voice

I thought was a result of wearing the face on top of any other voice

However, I swapped another unrelated skin to the face to test out the other voice and it didn't work. I was also able to hear Devourer without voice mod.

Idk what did this but I was having lots of fun exploring all the options and hearing all the voices with or without mod.

Might be worth separating the mod from the voice?? idk

Not only does this kill the hit and run playstyle sword has, it makes incrediblely situational for most situations when you also buffed the regular attack too much.

After some though I think this balance patch is decent. I understand what was the purpose of defib nerf but please, dont do it that way. Unlike overwatch we've got only 3 classes and I assume Mid is kinda support/assault class so this doesnt make sense to me. Besides that I'd REWORK CL40, everyone knows why. Its fun but only for User, I'd even try to put as a gadget and limit and increase structure damage to be good alternative to materializer

Please add the ability to make inspect weapon a toggle button. There are some inspects in the game that are able to be toggled on and off but most of them are not. Consistency with this or an option to turn it on would be amazing.

now that sword is so damn strong again, PLEASE AT THE VERY LEAST remove the custom 3rd person animation of baseball bat skins, the direction an enemy is facing while charging a lunge and lunging is literally impossible to read because the upper body is constantly turning independently from the movement.... when the enemy has a default sword skin you can see in which direction they are going to lunge and counter with good aim and prediction skills, but with baseball bats there is simply no chance

I main 3 weapons in this game. Sometimes I might swap between all 3 in a single round. 1 of them is the spear. I'm here to say that "Decreased the inner width of the hit sweep nearest to the camera, to prevent the Spear hitting objects just outside the player’s field of view, making the weapon slightly more reliable" ... is Embark pssing on our head & calling it rain. This was not a problem & your fix is not a buff. I've never once got frustrated because some object just out of view blocked the spears DMG. If it was happening, it wasn't noticed & I would argue that an unnoticeable problem isn't a problem & does not require a fix. You know what does need fixing? Getting locked in an animation for an hour after you've killed someone. Or how about a light that can infinitely dash far enough away to stay out of melee range.(3dash charges & a fast cool down, means no downtime for a smart player) A spec with no down time... Hmmm, seems STUPID. maybe fix the real stuff before you go making things up to pretend to fix.

latest update gave me problems with my mouse sens, its heavily reduced, 30 feels like 10 and increasing it just makes it feel innacurate/floaty, it fixes itself for a few seconds if i alt tab in and out but then goes back. i dont think the problem is with my mouse since its fine in other games but idk

turncap is implemented pretty poorly, im not opposed to the idea but instead of having it just yank control away and snap back to the middle of ur screen, why not have it decrease sensitivity as seen in games like chivalry 2 or mordhau, that way it would feel less frustrating to use, also the turncap feels pretty harsh? it makes landing lunge + qm's incredibly inconsistent against moving targets, if you dash slightly to the right or left of them you might be able to hit the lunge, but definitely not the quick melee, please consider increasing it to 90 degrees or something closer to that!!!

Will we ever see true colorblind accessibility options? I am red/green colorblind, and in most cases, all red dot sights are nearly impossible for me to use. It's a bit baffling that despite the very good customization options for the crosshair, the sights are completely impossible to change, with not even a simple hue shift being possible.

Cashout (World Tour and Ranked)

Any Vaults/Cash Boxes that have not been delivered to a Cashout Station by the time overtime starts will be despawned and removed from the match
Dev Note: We’ve been taking in lots of feedback related to “double stacking” two Cash Boxes in the same Cashbout Station. After doing a detailed analysis, it’s clear that the biggest frustration point is doubling the Cash Boxes during the final phase, where the total value of a single Cashout can be huge. In this scenario, the second-place team almost always loses their spot, since all three other teams are incentivized to target them. The first place wants a weaker opponent next round, while third and fourth just want to qualify. Our data shows that regardless how much cash the second place team has already secured, this doubling scenario always disproportionately affects them negatively. It often occurs during overtime as well. This change is aimed at making sure second place teams that have already secured a lot of cash are more likely to qualify, by reducing how often large stacks of cash are available in the final Cashout during overtime. This change is a test and will run from 7.6 through to 7.9, at which point its impact will be re-assessed.    

Yeah, you need to remove this. This is part of the reason that makes the finals, the finals. Total chaos and a chance to come back from the randomness the game provides.

So if a team can't double, there is no point in even playing the last minute. It would be easier for a team to just sit out and chill then to die needlessly for nothing. It is a waste of time. WASTE OF TIME.

I also foresee more players running more mobility options for this reason. For example, more mediums and lights having gateways, ziplines and jump pads in reserve. This move forces players to use certain gadgets or have them in reserve even though they do not want to.

What are you thinking?

Okay I've played with the sword for a few hours straight now.
That 40 degrees turn lock actually feels so clunky right now, please just change it to 140 or even 180.
Only the strangest of people were doing 360s and mostly just for style rather than actually use.

Its also 40 degrees in every direction. . . So if you try to jump down on someone and aim down to them. They honestly just can just avoid it so easily.

Short version:

Defib nerf was uncalled for. Removing cashoutboxes in overtime was uncalled for. Its part of the chaotic nature of the game.

Long version ( my perpective as a silver rank solo que medium player ) :

If I had to describe the finals Id say its hardcore, its demanding, competitive, raw edged, unforgiving, it fries your braincells, its chaotic and unfair.

There is nothing like this and its awesome.

See this is the thing. I like the game like this. Yes sometimes you get defibbed in the middle of the enemy team because the absolute moronic lunatik thougth it was a good idea to do so and you start cursing at your tv screen because thats the probably the 7th time this day.

Its not a problem. Its part of the game and part of its charm. I believe that the only solution is the guy with the defib ( like myself ) realising after 26 more games like " hey maybe I shouldnt run to my teamates statue and defib him with the enemy heavy flamethrower and the sh1900 near him ". I believe its a matter of experience. The defib like everything takes time to learn as a player.

For as far as my concern goes here is the thing. The defib is just an example.

Personally I dont like seeing things removed from the game that contributed ,to what I believe, is its core nature.

Pretty happy with the season so far. Melees being not meta and not rly viable leads to so much better fight quality and less frustration overall, but especially in casual soloq after a hard day. The new map plays rlly smooth, don't see any issues.

For solos it's absolute hell from about 33k points cuz ualmost always be in Rank 1, so u gotta get at least sekund to get ur +0 or +20 at max. The enemy teams are mostly full meta stacked premades, when u mostly get a duo consisting of an turret medium with AK and light with 3 different nades. Solo Carrying is pretty hard against stacked teams, even if they r mechanically much worse.
Y, there can't be a Soloq Ranked, cuz their ain't that many players but a premade based RP system could be a good solution

Let's say solo gets u like 20% more exp, as a duo 10 and as a trio nothing.(Just random numbers here). Also make this for RP loss. Decrease it for solos, increase it for premades.

I like them all but Kyoto BUT almost all of them r Asia themed, which I'm rly bored of since this season, visually wise. Some french, punk(solar, cyber,..), anything but sponsor and Asia the end would rly rly make the game feel more "fresh" again

I want to share my opinion about the sword buff. It's worse than it was before, the lunge is complete rubbish, it's just as uncontrollable as possible. Before, the sword was just tedious because of its lack of damage, but now it's even more unplayable.
The lunge doesn't stop even after hitting something; you can just stick it into a wall and wait for your camera to be released. If you hit an enemy with a lunge, you'll just fly off somewhere to the side without even a chance to use quick melee, so the buff is of little use when there's no way to use it.
Another primary attack buff... I think it's worth playing with the katana as a knife and unbinding the right button.
As for 40 degrees, I can say that it's just ridiculous, especially considering that you lose complete control (although when you tested it one day and the camera didn't lock on, it was strange). It was never a problem, even with the previous lunge, the enemy could dodge the lunge by jumping to the side.

I agree with this, rewarding solo q players with more rs and less loss of rs and vice versa for non solo q (although no penalty but just the normal amount of rs with no percentage increase)

ANOTHER THING, the removal of cashboxes at overtime - What embark should do instead is to REDUCE THE VALUE OF THE SECOND CASHBOX BY HALF.
To add to that, teams with more cash should get more rs which means it incentives first place teams to play for themselves and deposit cash without helping 3rd and 4th place teams.

If you get disconnected from a match (quick cash) you should be able to rejoin. You can rejoin ranked, terminal attack, and power shift, but I can't join back on quick cash with my homies :s

Thinking about it, sometimes that last second steal on a double-deposited cashout is just what a team needs to win an entire tournament! The dramatic appeal of seeing that happen in any game of The Finals is part of what makes this game so special in my opinion.

The way things were working kept OT from running too long, and de-spawning the other cashout station was good for that too, but those rules also meant that team play was SUPER important! With that in mind, if two teams are performing incredibly well, they won't have to worry about a last second steal half the time anyway, therefore rewarding good teamplay

  3. While ADSing on any gun, use any sprint modifier, hold or toggle.
  4. You should observe that the ADS is cancelled

PROPOSED SOLUTION

Provide an in-game setting that allows the player to enable/disable ADS cancelled by sprint. It can be Enabled by default to preserve the current behaviour.

USECASE

I play on KB&M mapped to my Alpakka controller, and have sprint bound to the outer ring of my left stick. During gunfights while ADSing, it is difficult to concentrate on how far I pull my left stick. Thus, many times, I will end up canceling the ADS mid spray.

yes I understand that this video may be a bit of a rant and a bit shallow but the main frustrations are points i can resonate with heavily.

The game to me has always been lacking in terms of potential of what it can be, its a VR game show ffs (excuse my language) but there could be SO MUCH MORE per season or just seemingly more effort.

If I select a light contestant as my selected constant, then go to a heavy, say with a sledge, go into the contestant edit for the heavy and back out quickly,

The skill ceiling has been lowered completely. There is no more movement. Might as well not dash. They called lunge dash a bug.. In season 7 by the way…
They’ve decided to punish players with 1000s of hours of muscle memory - who learned howto time a lunge, dash, then strafe, then bunny hop. All simple and real features of the game, no abusing, spamming, swapping, nothing that I deemed an unintended mechanic, was involved in what you call “a super dash” I call that lunge dash. Because it’s literally just those two things you put into the weapon that drew me to this game in the first place back in season 2.

Punishing time put into mechanics is literally the fastest way to loose loyal players. The fact that an entire teams of devs doesn’t realize that - and took over an entire season to put this out - is not only embarrassing but also disrespectful. I can only assume that you do not care to learn or listen to players who understand your game better than you do. Ego, arrogance or laziness I’m not sure - but I fr expected more from the team behind bf4.

My disappointment is immeasurable.

I like it, the new game mode is fun and I think the melee buffs are nice since I’ve seen people complain about it in the past. I do think that sword should only lock the hitbox and not the camera though when you do a super lunge thing, but other than that it’s nice.

Limiting turn radius feels VERY BAD. ANYTHING would be better, even a damage reduction.

Look into a different way of balancing sword, this is NOT it.

Limiting turn radius is a bad idea, it removes all fluidity from play, freedom of movement, and makes the game feel incredibly clunky, when YOUR GAME is supposed to be ANYTHING else than that (?)

I also don't play sword much, my sword is lvl 4 (red), but I came to your game because of the special gameplay, and the option to play melee weapons when I was bored of playing guns.
That was one thing that separated your game from other games.
I strongly disagree with a design choice like the turn limit. For me that design is against everything I believed your game stood for. Fluidity in movement, etc.

Winch nerf nobody talks about… I apparently can’t winch the box from someone stealing anymore. 3 entire plays where it didn’t work and we lost the game. Yesterday I could do it with my eyes closed. Also (not a big deal) you can’t “wiggle” the winch claw anymore as it has been deployed

As a medium main who has been running defib since the betas, just remove it at this point.

it has been debuffed so much in the past and now with the new "debuff" it just makes movement feel so ass with it and also feels super unsatisfying to use now

and not only that, this debuff is not gonna change anything about defib usage, as an extra 0.2 second charge up time is not gonna do anything besides making the game feel terrible to play

removing it would make the gameplay feel better, and would allow other gadgets to take up the slot it would previously take

as a movement addict, I would love to replace it with goo, but it is still busted so I have to use it

also please buff model or cerb or something that does high damage at close range I am addicted to movement and this game likes to butcher my playstyle entriely

I have to play light db + dash now for any satisfaction

the balancing issues are the main reason why I play this game significantly less now

I feel sad for all the sword mains. However, I was a ks-23 winch main and embark nerfed the rechamber animation cancels from melee and winch and I complained for 3 seasons and nothing changed. Truly, I think embark cares more about the noob players and how they feel than anyone who genuinely knows and loves the game. Skill based mechanics are good for the game and I’d like to see embark stop removing them from their unique weapons and play styles but I imagine it’ll keep happening until all you see is meta machine guns like you already see way too much of.

Hey so I posted in main chat by mistake. Gonna say it here.

Obviously there's complaints about sword. Every change you ever do will get complained about at first by those weapon mains. I understand that. But I think this one is a little different.

Four months ago, or however long ago that was, when sword got nerfed, everyone was mad. It was frustrating, because everyone knew the damage was suddenly very underpowered. Wake up one day, and now I can't even finish off this light? Game changing. But it was a numbers nerf, the weapon still felt the same.

I was bothered, but I decided to stick with the weapon. Hundreds of hours, thousands of kills, always with a mathematical disadvantage on dps. About a month ago, I began to really enjoy the game again. I had stopped relying on balanced damage amounts, and had leaned deep into the control and finesse aspect. Super patient, way more careful, quicker reactions, better decisions. I increased my team cohesion, I improved my objective play, and I worked my K/D up to a respectable 1.01. Almost exclusively using the nerfed sword.

I didn't play sword because it's the easiest or the best. It isn't, and I don't want it to be. It should be good, maybe even great. Not hyper-competitive or broken. It should be viable, but never easy to master.

I played sword because it was fun. In my opinion, it's the weapon with some of the most control and finesse in the game. When hot in the middle of combat, it requires near perfect decision making, and vigilance to change in a split second, all at high intensity. But what I have grown to love, is the patience, and discretion required to know if, when, and how to engage with enemies, and how to coordinate with teammates.
In my opinion, sword has one of the highest combinations of mechanical skill, and high game sense required in order to master. It is tiring to see people complaining about "sword auto-aimers whining". It's simply not the case.

The damage buff to lunge was always understood as necessary. 115 or 120 would make it viable again. The damage increase on the main attack wasn't necessary. I believe 74 was very fair, if you left the timing where it was, too. The distances and lunge speed also weren't necessary; if anything I think they restrict the amount of control the player has.

But that 40 degree restriction and the clunky feeling dash combo simply ruin the class. It takes all the skill and control away from the player, and leaves you feeling like a sledgehammer heavy with 150 health.

The fun is gone. It's no longer a weapon I can trust to follow my commands. I am no longer in control, I am just here, watching, hoping my newly buffed damage gets the kill faster than the other player's gun. No more awesome plays, certainly no more cashout steals. There's no more life in what used to be a dynamic and challenging weapon.

And that makes me sad.

What's the most frustrating is that now I either have to give up on this beloved weapon, or start again brand new, learning something that now feels very foreign. Why can't you balance without completely changing the style of play?

Maybe I can keep playing The Finals, like I want to. Maybe I just need to bite my tongue and completely relearn my beloved weapon. Maybe in another four months I'll be brave enough to play ranked with sword again. Will its mechanics get ruined again by then? I'm worried they will.

Can I take the risk of sticking around to find out?

I honestly don't know.

And that makes me sad . . .

  • The change to cashout vaults 5&6 doesn't prevent the doubling situation 95% of the time since that typically occurs BEFORE overtime. Genuinely, if you are 3rd/4th place with 2k dollars to your name by the third wave of boxes, you deserve to lose, enough of this doubling by the 1st place to grief out 2nd place. Just remove vault 6 already, or at least make it take time to deposit like some have suggested (7s, same as a steal maybe).
  • Sword "rework" and "buffs" have effectively killed sword for good. Prior to this rework, it was actually still just barely usable in the higher elos if you're cracked enough. Not anymore though. This weapon is done for. Good job, Embark. You did EXACTLY as everyone was fearing.
  • S3 Ruby Card Badge still not rewarded halfway into S7 despite being promised it since late S6.
  • New gamemode is mostly a W, I'd tie it with Heavy Hitters

Controller stopped working with this last update. I also downloaded a game called soulframe and messed with my steam input for that, but I've since reset my steam input setting and it still isn't working, so I think it was the update.

Petition to put a weapon changes pop up when the game starts, like only once every updates that changes stuff around
because I started the game thinking "oh yeah normal ok, maybe they changed some damage here and there I will figure it out"
but then they made the ks23 unusable because the muscle memory of hitting the slug is useless with "HyBriD HitScAnS" , the defibrillator takes longer even with the same sound and animation
the sword now only needs two hits to kill lights and most melees had their ranges and angles changed so EVERYTHING is weird to use because there was no notes talking about a whole full rework in the entire fucking melee category
the ks23 which was kind of useful and fun before, but now is useless with low damage SUPER SLOW rate of fire and impossible to aim because the slug has VARIABLE SPEEDS that changes according to the range, for gods sake a light can put an entire mag in your face while you pump a single round in that gun, variable speed slugs make no sense and don't work with this gun, its too slow and short range for it
yes this change worked with the sniper BECAUSE IT WAS A SNIPER RIFLE FOR SUPER LONG RANGES, it worked in the sniper because it has a absolutely horrible hip fire and a global range with no damage reduction
the shotgun doesn't have that, it runs out of damage after 20m and a light can almost outrun it using dash

How to fix sword, because this was not it. - sword main since s1
Don't lock the angle that you can look with a stiff angle cap. That makes the movement feel really clunky and unrefined. With a game this fluid, nothing should feel like that.
Instead, have a gradual damage drop off based on your angle of momentum vs viewing angle.
For Example:
140 damage if you're looking within 2.5° of your momentum.
Then decrease by 1 damage for every 1° that you look away from your momentum direction.

This keeps movement fluid while still limiting rotational flick damage.
