Sure, if your entire complaint is about the timing of it's release that's totally understandable. It is definitely not the best and could have been better. That does not excuse the people who call it a grind for the unemployed and lifeless. That's simply not true. Anyone can reach it be it with a stack or not, tryhard or not.

It is of course flawed, as any mode can be. Be it third parties or the matchmaking.

It's actually 75! I know, insane. I had actively been playing with a 3-stack, but one has severe connection issues, and the other refuses to not use a flamethrower, but we could still make due with the original points system, but absolutely not with the new full-tourney win structure.

I know its pointless to have a feedback channel here since devs dont care a shit about the players. But i request them to please stop forcing players to play kyoto. Its really annoying to play the 50 fps map. if they continue to not care about players then I think Finals deserve to die mainly because of the incompetent Embark devs.

Can we make the points system less harsh on ranked terminal attack? Like I'm ranking up 500 points average every game and the game I could've ranked up I get 3 light teammates playing dagger and sniper and I lost 1.2k points. It's such a pain to try to play the game only for people to ruin it. They weren't even playing objective it was so annoying

tbh i dont think anyone knows what they are doing.. Why does kyoto have a 70% or so map pick chance.. Why is winch claw so broken? At least disable it until further balancing can be done. They did that with the recon senses for medium.. Challenges make no sense.. Cheating is becoming a horrible issue and the players i fight either have cracked aim and PERFECT game sense and intelligence or they are cheating. I hate to say they are cheating too because its an excuse but to be fair how often can you run into players that have 95% accuracy with heads and perfect game intelligence??

Hi all, I'm part of a group of elder Millenials that still runs a yearly LAN (55 people this year). I tried to get The Finals as one of the major tournaments for this year, but it wound up getting rejected because of the limitations of new player accounts.

It would be incredible if private matches didn't require any kind of unlock, and that all unlocks could be enabled as a match modifier to allow people to play on new or LAN specific accounts and have access to all the classes/weapons/gadgets

This would also open up the issue of having 'invalid' loadouts, so possibly 3 private match specific loadout slots that are not restricted by current unlock progress?

I want to spread my love of the Finals, but in this type of environment the typical account lockouts are a huge disadvantage

melees have enough range, or abilities which help them close the distance. sword has a dash which simultaneously gives movement and 140 damage on contact during any point in the attack animation. also the lower hp pool proves my point since the light class has a much higher dps to compensate. combined with dash, grapple, and invis, light class is the hardest to hit, especially in close range. flamethrower is very, very viable, but only with winch. most heavies won't bother staying indoors or waiting for a close range encounter. winch is the way for it to become usable at long range.

also the issue with melees is that against guns, at long range they are essentially useless, at close range they are broken. there is no way to balance melees in a gun game

For gods sake devs, remove snipers from powershift. Usually I dont complain abt snipers that much, but its getting out of hand. in ps ur spposd to capture a platform right out in the open, or stand there defending it, with usually no cover above you. snipers dont make any shitty sense. theyll be standing almost a mile away camping there and sniping u without ever going to the platform. and it sucks when u have to go away from the obj just to get them killed. all builds main speaking. remove snipers

A weapon that is completely useless at mid/long range should obliterate in close fights (don't forget that shotguns can still outperform melee weapons)

What makes melees seem broken is certain Specializations

Not sure if game needs any more melee weapons as long as current ones aren't balanced (im mostly talking about Spear and all M melee which are quite weak and thus unpopular)

Wall run and bounce imo shouldn't be intrudeced. First of all its a step towards sweaty movement gameplay (had enough of all kinds of strafes, wall/matle jumps, superglides in Apex) and there's already enough problems with interaction with environment atm (mostly climbing related)

i'm not sure if i agree about the way things should be. my point was that melees had no place in a gun game as primary weapons, there's always gonna be problems with balancing them.

also we need more sweaty movement gameplay. the reason that bad controller players can beat good kbm players is because of a lack of good counterstrafing. i agree with you that we don't need new mechanics, but we need to fix our current ones.

SBMM - where is it snd why do we need it.

Skill based matchmaking is clearly absent from this game. Making soloq in particular a really annoying thing to do. More often than not you will get teammates well bellow yourr own skill level. Facing pre made teams that totally destroy you.

Nerfing and buffing to try and make everybody happy is not achievable. Using SBMM is.

Even Activision has acknowledged that players are happier with SBMM:

Of course there is a difference between a casual and a hardcore player, but what do prizes have to do with it? There is a leaderboard where you can see how good you are. I don't see any problem with all players being able to get all the prizes, it will only make more happy people, that's what games are for.

This is understandable, but it is not a rule. The reward for reaching the highest ranks is your name on the leaderboard аnd the ability to earn the rest of the rewards faster and easier than a casual player could. If your ass falls off because someone else will have the same awards as you, then that's sad. If you're annoyed that more people will be happy... I wouldn't say that's a good and right feeling.

Ture. But they don't change the FPS gameplay except to give a new avenue of movement and attack. They are a gimmick but it is the gimmick the game is named after. It is also not something that makes gameplay any different for any class of character since everyone has the same ability to use them. I am mainly saying that The Finals, before so many weird additions to the classes abilities and weapons, was played by many more people. These additions seem to be what is killing this game.

Lights clearly need a buff Embark. Maybe infinite cloak and dashes in one ability? They should also have 1 second respawn timers and no recoil on SMG's which also should kill in one bullet and home in on bad guys at any range. You should also nerf heavy and medium so their guns deal damage to themselves when they shoot. Light swords should also kill in one hit bcause i got that cool katana and ninjas are cool thanks

Day 148 of me begging the devs to give heavy an M134 Minigun as a Specialization.

  • 200 Round magazine, ammo is restored four bullets every second, 50 seconds for a full reload.
  • 20 rounds per second, eleven damage a round, 220 DPS. No headshot modifier to keep DPS from becoming insane.
  • Falloff begins at 30 meters down to six damage a shot at 50, but wide spread means the weapon becomes less effective past 10 meters even against larger targets, you’re probably not getting higher than 150 DPS even as far as 10 meters.
  • bullets do high damage to structures (should be breaking walls in 20-50 shots) allowing a mid-range option to output mass destruction (destroying entire walls on higher floors of buildings, ripping apart nesting sightlines)
    • significant damage to structures and players
    • gun can be pre-spooled with RMB over having an ADS (for obvious reasons, you try to aim down the sights of a water cooler)|
    • high suppressive force through sheer amount of bullets being fired
    • its a goddamn minigun
  • - Heavy cannot jump or sprint while holding it, has to switch back to primary
  • - lengthy equip-unequip time to balance such, no “pocket minigun” strats, choosing to use this mid-combat is a commitment, one that could get you killed.
  • - gun has to spool up for a second before firing, spool up being LOUD

I feel like jump pads need the same limitation that turrets have. Namely that the recharge only starts after you've destroyed the last one.

3D combat is fun. But on maps like Kyoto it can be a little tiresome for EVERY fight to be a rooftop fight. Which also heavily screws over melee classes.

I feel like they need to be forced to be used a bit more thoughtfully than they are currently. Or maybe even break after 3 uses instead.

Few things I would like to see changed on the light class.

VS9 and Dagger being changed to a side arm similar to the RPG. VS9 would need a severe damage reduction, but I think it would still be impactful for the players using longer range options up close or finishing kills. I think this would allow for a bit more freedom and player expression, while reducing the toxicity for their teammates as the dagger players often underperform on the lower end of players. Also a special interaction on the VS9 as a sidearm could be that it can fire some shots while invisible but burns down the meter quickly.

Invisibility should probably have stages of decay that are highly differentiated. High movement should decay rapidly, while standing still should be close to not decaying at all. Keep the sounds as they are, but I think this would allow for a bit more expression on the invis players.

Swap Sword and Dual Blades between medium and light. The gap closer on the sword is more meaningful on the slower less agile medium, and the block is more meaningful on light which already has several gap closers. Also aesthetically it makes more sense.

XP needs a range nerf not damage nerf. I think it’s in an okay spot after that.

Give stun and recon to heavy, at the trade off of removing winch. The heavy being the main ways to remove geometry means being able to see through them would be much more meaningful to them, and allow better support and use of the CQB of the heavy. The stun is a healthier way for heavies to slow down other classes without it being a free kill like the winch is. The sledge would still need to close the gap in a hail of bullets, giving the mediums and lights the ability to at least defend themselves in a duel.

It's not about being happy? It's about rewarding players for their dedication. An insignificant place on a trophy or a leaderboard is worthless and has no value. All rewards are given at the end of the season, so no one is getting rewards faster than anyone.

Giving rewards like skins, player cards, charms to the highest ranks has been a concept in every competitive game, for ages, to reward dedicated players. The Finals is not an exception.

Find an actual niche for the 93R, we don't need V9S but quirky. It could be a weak sustain fire option similar to the throwing knives, with a really fast reload. Being able to sprint while firing to the detriment of accuracy would also be an interesting change.

I like the v9s change possibly to a gadget, maybe daggers but I think they’d haft to function differently.

V9s being able to be shot while invis would just prove the complaint of people saying invis is busted. Possibly as a gadget or maybe buff the v9s procs detection on the enemy per bullet hit ex 1 hit = 1 sec scaling up. reduce knives base dmg and make them proc a dmg over time Bleed that % takes health. v(s gets one total mag while knives get maybe 4 or 6 throws?

I don’t like the no deteration while the light is standing still invis, the problemo w invis is that kids just stand still invis and get the first couple of shots on you. Having no deteration would probably bring us into a meta of just camping and rotting in corners and no one wants that. I think the only way to “nerf” invis would be to add another specialization to light, whether it be a emp pulse of something else to happen that way there’s a bigger incentive to get off invis.

Sword and duals, the dual blades wouldn’t even do enough dmg on light to be viable like the sword already is. I think instead increase the movement speed of players that are using melees, this would allow them to catch up with less issues. Maybe even allow them to sprint while swinging so no one can escape but I think that’s a last case scenario.

I think recon should be put back on medium that way heal beam isn’t always used, doesn’t make too much sense on heavy as it would probably get no use since you couldn’t really act on someone as a heavy w wall hacks. I think stun gun honestly should get removed it’s unhealthy. Chain needs a registration change as being pulled through wall and be able to be hit on the way back of the chain is ridiculous.

People are already spending their time on the game, so why shouldn’t the game reward them for that? What’s so terrible about making the requirements for getting rewards more lenient? I really like the colors being close to eachother, its not sarcasm, but i just want to add a +1 to the team color design choice.

The fact that they are close together adds to the chaos, and honestly makes cashout better in my opinion. Maybe make quick cash have more distinct colors, like red blue yellow, but in cashout and especially competitive modes, having the team colors close together can lead you to sometimes identify red/salmon as an orange team, or even mistaking purple for your own blue team.

That part of the game is really good, and makes you stay on your toes a bit. Something i could suggest maybe is to do research on the commonly confused colors by TV and monitors, since they arent always color accurate, and make sure that the colors are more likely to be mistaken by the eye and not the tv or monitor the player is using.

Maybe you have already done that, but if not, it would be nice to be sure, otherwise, im just happy to say i very much enjoy that side of the game. Its a bit of chaos that is added and can be fun chaos, but not bad chaos.

Mines for example, i consider bad chaos. I know not many people share my opinion on this, but if things are chaotic in cashout/tournament mode, mistaking one team for another doesnt greatly change the outcome of the fight. It has a factor, but its not as serious as explosive mines.

Damn explosive mines are so hard to see or hear when there is more than two teams fighting for one objective. And the consequences are instant and much more serious.

Anyway. Just wanted to say i like the colors being similar.

It was more noticable on singleshot weapons like the lh1 and revolver or weapons with strong visual recoil like the m11 and xp-54. But most noticeable on the sniper. There's going to be third parties in this game no matter what but maybe some UI changes to make the closest cashout more "focused" to entice players to go for that could help.

My personal dislike of lights stems from many (not all) playing what amounts to a solo game. Often not with the rest of the team, particularly when using weapons that don't require close range (think bow/sniper). I suppose it could be the dailies or other achievements that require kills without cash-outs. Aside from that, as a medium with CL-40 and healing, I feel the gun was better before the recent nerf, and the healing is great when we're against "average" teams. However, when up against full teams of lights (with dash), they run circles around me and I'm dead before I can heal.

This game is extremely fun but at a bad state right now. Shoot bug, horrible amount of lag out of nowhere even without much destruction, sprint bug for me and my teammate in the same match, settings changing themselves automatically without my input. Please focus on some performance improvements and bug fixes. Things can't go on like this!

And kindly don't choose the the worst areas for balancing too, using recoil adjustments, inaccurate sights and crosshairs, abhorrent visual recoil are the worst ways of balancing weapons and does nothing besides making things feel worse to use. This shouldn't be a thing. People should have a positive experience regardless of the actual power and effectiveness of the weapon!

Does anyone think this too that for a more competitive experience each team should have 1 Medium 1 Light and 1 Heavy only. This makes the players play and gain mastery on each class. There can be a separate unranked mode where people can run HHM MMM MMH loadouts. Having MHL each team for a competitive cashout mode makes it a better competitive experience. Cuz there are almost MMM loadouts in each team where they just keep healing each other and form a heal triangle and nobody is playing the Light class that much. Having a ranked cashout mode for MHL on each team makes it pretty balanced imo and there can be an unranked/casual mode where people can run whatever loadouts they want without any restrictions. This makes people use and learn how to play each class like in other hero shooters where 1 person can play only 1 role soo they have to learn to play other roles and characters too. Valorant is good hero shooter example I think.

They dropped a new trailer today at GamesCon and this explains why we are only getting skins for guns each week.

Thats not true, I think it needs a nerf and I main the model when I play medium. I am E3 in world tour and it is by far the most common medium weapon in the finals queue. It is a 1shot+melee for a light, a 2 shot kill on a medium, and a 3 shot kill on a heavy. The range is also absurd. Ask anyone gold or above and 90% will tell you that the weapon is busted. The only people I see calling for a model buff are not using the gun to its full potential. Just my opinion.

  • Jump pads need limited uses, or the same recharge method as sentries. High points are incredibly powerful, and it's too easy to lock them down with constant pad availability.

I don't think Embark should focus on having trailers in Game awards and stuff like that. It's too expensive and it often leads to them (at least I think) making way shorter trailers.

Releasing trailers on YouTube and on social media is better as you can upload longer ones for free and encourage sharing instead of wait for people to see it on a live stream and go "oh that was cool, anyways".

Third parties as a thing will be in the game regardless of any change, further I think it would only be a third party fest if the winning team had ALL the money - it still incentives normal play until one squad has a much larger amount of cash than everyone else, at which point I don't think it's a bad thing for that squad to get focussed. Also the 20% wipe penalty would reduce the winning squad roaming and would encourage more team play, while the smaller 10% gain would basically mean that a more skilled team that may have lost to some BS actually has a chance/path to make their money back step by step if they can pull off multiple wipes

Season 4 Balance Changes

Builds

Light

  • Reduced the revive action speed on teammate by 1 second.

Personal thoughts: This change is meant to make Lights more effective in team play, enhancing their supportive role in a competitive setting.

Heavy

  • Increased passive healing rate by 50%.

Personal thoughts: Heavies take significantly longer to heal compared to Lights, making it difficult to recover without external support. This buff aims to improve their self-sufficiency in combat.

Specializations

Winch Claw

  • No longer pierces shields.
  • Primary weapon locked until the target is pulled in.
  • Cannot pull targets while returning.
  • Increased cooldown by 1 second when missing.
  • Reduced cooldown by 1 second when hitting.

Personal thoughts: The Winch Claw has been overly oppressive, especially against Lights and Mediums, with limited counterplay. These changes should balance interactions across different builds.

Charge and Slam

  • Damage now scales from 80 to 130 over 0.8 seconds, instead of starting at 130.
  • Increased duration by 1 second when breaking walls.

Healing Beam

  • Healing effectiveness reduced by 15% when a target is healed by two beams simultaneously.

Personal thoughts: Double healing setups, particularly with Heavies, have been difficult to counter. This adjustment should make these setups more manageable.

Dematerializer

  • Increased depth of dematerialization.

  • Reverted recoil changes.

  • Increased damage to 25 per bullet.
  • Increased max ammo from 21 to 24.
  • Increased fire rate.

Dagger

  • Reintroduced backstab hold mechanic from the beta.
  • Increased backstab damage to 340 (from 320).
  • Increased non-crit backstab damage to 75 (from 50).

Personal thoughts: These changes should make the Dagger more competitive, especially in matchups against Lights.

Throwing Knives

  • Now has a max of 16 ammo (8 bursts).

CL-40

  • Buffed reload speed.
  • Increased damage from 93 to 100.

XP-54

  • Decreased range damage.
  • Decreased base damage by 1.

Dual Blades

  • Adjusted damage:
    • First attack: 60/60 (120 total)
    • Second attack: 50/50 (100 total)

We feel unheard. I have seen so many good changes that wouldn't affect your game in any way except for quality of life for your players. At least acknowledge your playerbase and let us know you are doing something. No bug fixes for any issues ive ran into over the last 3 weeks of playing... But every week I most definitely see updates for new shop items that cost real life money! For all this broken stuff, kyoto map, winch claw, dash light... Please just disable it until you can play test and balance it. Or come out with an event where this stuff is only accessable in the event so the playerbase can play test it before it comes out in every gamemode. Or just dont release it until it is balanced. I have seen so many successful fps and really any competitive game that bans/disables specific items/loadouts because they work together in conjunction to create an extremely overpowered combo that makes the game itself feel less like "The finals, a competitive fps where you can do whatever your heart desires, from blowing up buildings to making memories with your friends, to a rage inducing winch claw swing sledgehammer simulator.

Add some function in the practice range so we can change the strafe speeds of the dummies. Right now they have a fixed speed which doesn't suit the strafes of a real player. Lower range more damage, More accuracy more damage, it's simple thinking about the weapon design. M1887 is balanced and it can be the standard to balance the whole game weapon it's skillful and useful.

If you often dead when use jump pad in sky with full HP by three enemy you would never say the rifle ,LMG and SMG are poor to against M1887. In asia so many group team just stick together with long range gun is OP and no one can against.
Lower range not only mean you just need to get close to enemy, it mean you need to dodge any mine and opponent cross fire, you just notice you been 2 shot kill and never seen a lot of low range weapon just dead when he want to get close your team.
Long range weapon dead have no risk because your team can easy save you just 5s and the low range weapon dead mean you need to wait 20s coin to revive or make you team go to a dangerous position.

Don't just claw a noob and say the claw is OP, a lot of my opponent of the sense to dodge the claw and I say just add a mechanically you can squat to cancel the claw AND reduce the CD.

Man please instead of stuff is getting nerfed I wanna see buffs. Make weapons more reliable or even overpowered. All weapons being overpowered and chaotic will be more fun in general than not being able to use what you were maining or what you are having fun while playing. Both dome shield and Throwing Knife changes are really not doing it.. Shield is literally so easy to deal with and Throwing knives are useless unless close range and thats one of Light's strong suit. If you can move good enough you dodge most of the knives and if people using Throwing knives cannot aim they won't be able to use it at all. So its already a skill requiring weapon why nerf it after a decent balance??

Watching old clips of the finals and maybe it’s the nostalgia factor talking but the game was better.

I was happier.

Want to revive a dying game? Referring friends isn’t going to do it.

I stopped playing the game. I’m not going to be incentivized for some multibucks to put friends through it mentally.

If you want to shake up and revamp the game, here are some 💡 ideas 💡

  1. map voting. Sticking us in shit maps and not giving us a choice is not the move.

  2. have different game modes with different season updates. I miss the days of recon, instant defibs, one shot rpg light elims and dare I say nukes.
    Have different seasons available in different game modes and see the server activity to evaluate if it’s pragmatic moving forward. At bare minimum, have it available as options in custom games.

  3. advertising more. Find some room to expand that budget. My friends still have no idea what the game is and if it wasn’t for word of mouth, I wouldn’t be here at 4am trying to help defib this game.

  4. weapon balancing. I appreciate the willingness in listening to feedback from players. The constant changing is very aggravating and annoying. Throwing knives are broken. Needs to be a reload animation or cooldown with a reduction in damage. Heavy is being nerfed into the ground and so many people are quitting the game over this.

  5. throw away low gravity, alien invasion and meteor showers. Waste of space in the game

Can start with that I am aware that you can see which Specializations your opponents have, at the beginning of the match. But for everyone including me, who doesn't have photographic memory, plus everyone can play more tactically around and against everyone's Specializations. Would it be appreciated to add Specializations to the scoreboard.

I havent played the changes yet, but dome shield was not very strong to begin with. Most people i know run dome shield and barricades or even goo grenades, because dome shield only provides a quick cover that holds off like half a magazine.

The main thing dome shield had going for it was the length of time it was available, so i have a good feeling its likely a very short weak cover now that would probably make it not viable. It wouldn't even last long enough to cover an entire cashout steal

Before, you could do things like toss a bubble onto a cashout to bait a steal and wait for them to drop from height and have an advantage to play in. 5.5 seconds kind of completely removes that strategy. Again, this seems to cater to casual players, since a smart player would have just stayed on height and popped the bubble. Now, nobody will drop. They will just wait out the 5 seconds.

Also, i second that this is a huge nerf to glitch grenades.

But ill have to try out the update to see.

Also, i want to complain about the emerald win reduction.

I know alot of people complained about it being too many wins, but many people already had it, and many people were definitely going to achieve it. You effectively set a bar and then made it lower and easier to get in. This is going to make the skin less rare, which was kind of the whole point of it being 75 wins i thought.

Please let the people who are tryharding to reach very hard to reach goals have something thats worth it in rarity, rather than listening to the massive amounts of complaints you're getting from people who are too lazy or cannot reach it. Of course they cant reach it, the majority of the playerbase SHOULDNT be able to reach the goal if its going to be a hard goal to reach.

I know you can't revert those changes, but I consider lowering the emerald wins to be a massive L to anybody who was willing to put in the time and effort.

Our achievement that we were working so hard to get is now just that much easier for others to achieve, and we get nothing in return for our hard work

The new crosshair changes are a great improvement but they're still not ideal.

I've always, since the beta's even, had an issue with the crosshair and I've even mentioned my issues with it in the reddit AMA. I'm glad to see that they are working on improving the crosshairs, and what has been changed is great, but it's still not what I and others have been hoping for.

When people talked about getting static crosshairs, it wasn't just about not making the crosshair react to the gun's accuracy. What I hoped for with static crosshairs was that the crosshair would be locked to the center of your screen permanently. No bouncing around from moving around or reload animation or even sometimes when just standing still. Some people rely on having a static crosshair as a point of reference to avoid getting motion sick.

But making the crosshair locked wasn't the only problem. Another problem lies with how ADS aiming is handled. Bullets in The Finals always go to the center of your screen, which I think feels great. However the ADS sights always keep bouncing away from the center of the screen when moving / shooting making it unreliable to know where your shots are going. Yes the animations became a lot more centered from open beta to launch but it's still not perfectly accurate (especially with the sniper). Not only that but the bounciness of the ADS sights further hinders the accessibility problem mentioned before. There is a reason why people run monitor crosshairs and are way more accurate with them, it's because the current ADS sights aren't reliable. I don't see a reason as to why we can't level the playing field by keeping crosshairs enabled while ADS'ing.

Still overall glad to see some customization to the crosshair, I'm happy to have my green dot crosshair on all weapons, but I'm still hoping for more improvements to it.

✨My bit of feedback to the devs. I really love this game, be playing since November last year. But it just feels like it’s slowly losing me on debuffs and buffs.

The way the game “was” felt better. Just in terms of the rush of winning and defibs and potential to be able to win. Right now it can feel like a struggle to win each game.

Games like Fortnite & Overwatch getting new seasons, are going to start stealing players from The finals, and the less players mean us “medium” gamers face only the best of the best in the game and can make it really unfun and frustrating to play against people with hundreds more hours than I.

So what can be done?

  • use a lot of the user feedback and balance the game better. (2 months to balance OP light throwing knives is a long time…)

  • Change up the game modes and make more fun modes like power shift.

  • Role Que added to at least ranked… and hopefully with good feedback can be added to all game modes. (Have an arcade mode for no role Que.)

I am writing to express my growing concern regarding the frequent release of patches that have had unintended negative consequences on the gameplay experience.

This game has a lot of issues currently that are SERIOUSLY impacting the quality of the game that are being danced around, each and every patch that is a "balancing" patch does not address the issues that are present. There is no reason that the TTK feels absolutely horrible on almost all weapons, SMG's out damaging rifles at range, Shotguns performing better than rifles at range, Performance issues, weapons feeling ineffective and just NOT fun to use. and that is just the tip of the iceberg.

nerfing EVERY weapon, ability and class into oblivion is not how you balance a game and it's not how you make a game fun.

Embark has consistently released patches that have missed and have had unintended negative consequences on the gameplay experience. To address these concerns and ensure a more positive and enjoyable experience for players, I propose the following strategies:

1. Implement a Public Beta Environment (PBE):

A PBE would provide a controlled environment where dedicated players could test new changes before they are released to the live game.
This would allow for early identification and resolution of issues, reducing the likelihood of negative impacts on the main game.
Feedback from PBE participants could be used to refine and improve the changes before they are released to the wider player base.



2. Increase Player Involvement:

Embark should actively seek and incorporate player feedback throughout the development and testing process.
Regular surveys, forums, and direct communication channels could be used to gather insights and address concerns.
Prioritizing player feedback would demonstrate a commitment to listening to the community and making decisions that align with their preferences.



3. Focus on Core Gameplay:


While it's important to introduce new features and content, maintaining the core gameplay mechanics that made The Finals™ popular is essential.
Changes to core mechanics should be carefully considered and tested to ensure they do not negatively impact the overall experience.
Prioritizing the preservation of core gameplay elements would help to maintain player satisfaction and loyalty.




4. Transparent Communication:


Embark should be more transparent about its development process and the reasoning behind patch decisions.
Regular updates and explanations can help to build trust and understanding within the community.
Open communication can also foster a sense of collaboration and ownership among players.



By implementing these strategies, Embark can significantly improve the quality of its patches and ensure a more positive and enjoyable gameplay experience for all players involved. You guys have done great in the past when you made changes to team wipes and noticed dissatisfaction and immediately put out a survey that allowed us to give you critical feedback to address those changes and to return to some sense of normality and sanity within WT. but you can do so much more by just letting the community be involved.

Please Embark. Make The Finals™ A fun and enjoyable game again and bring back its true identity instead of trying to go with the status quo. Make your game unique again. Make the game FUN again, make it MAKE SENSE again. you already created an amazing game. STAY TRUE TO WHAT IT ONCE WAS.

Was very excited to see changes to the crosshairs! The changes implemented are significantly better than before, but it unfortunately didn't solve the core issue here. The reticle moves all the time, despite bullets coming from the center of the screen. I was hoping the static crosshair was actually that instead of one that didn't show spread increase, but was disappointed to find I was wrong. Everything else about the patch looks great, but the crosshair never being truly still, causing issues with aiming with several weapons (aim with any gun while falling and you will miss unless you aim above the opponent, or just use the sniper ever basically, especially when moving). That one feature would make all the difference and would also end the custom crosshair issue that has brewed in the community for months at this point

Turning orb dome shields into 5.5 seconds, which isn't even enough time to steal, is almost as good as nothing.

Winch claw distance to 12 meters is the same as nothing.

Why do they all just nerf heavy stuff and not light? Have you guys ever counted the frequency of body types people use? I feel like light is a very strong presence in this version.

I never understood the damage chnage and why it only has 1 chnage. Can embark pls increase it back upto 2 charges and increase its damage. Now with the lack of nukes, it's perfect

Because while light feels oppressive, they still fall off compared to mediums and heavies. The winch combined with sledge/sa was death for grabbed mediums and lights, and even a rival heavy struggles. Dome orb nerf was perhaps unnecessary, but heaviest still got incredibly oppressive things to use that are not fun to go against (slam, sa, rocket launcher).

The reason light is picked not because it is better, but because people have more fun being a quick moving and quick killer in spite of the hardships it faces and how much skill it needs to be good at the Finals (aside from killing)

Few issues: Static crosshair is not static. Some animations still affect it. (Running, reloading what i found)

1 Game Breaking bug addressed, like 5 more to go: Randomly having sprint disabled, gateway randomly disabled, steal being interrupt while having a clear sightline esp on moving, statues not spawning when reconnecting to a tournament after next round has started (e.g. you crash loading into final round, ur not actually in final round and then u reconnect and you get no statue)

Rpg not addressed, id make it more destruction focused like it was done with breach and i believe c4 as well

Charge not addressed, 130 out of nowhere feels cheap (if dmg is nerfed, keep the dmg scaling on falling the same cause that actually takes setup and should be rewarded imo)

Model not addressed, it 2 shots medium. You're forced to get close to objectives so you cant just get out of its effective range of like 15m. I suggest making the spread bigger or reducing the damage so mediums dont get 2 shot anymore.

Winch pulling you through 23 parallel universes not addressed (might occur less frequently now that the range is reduced)

World Tour frustration not addressed, only really a minor change. You should get a partial point for reaching second or something, not have the requirement for em1 to be nerfed. But not a bad change, i was creeping close to 75 anyways and im done 2 sessions earlier now because of it.

I have to agree with @honest siren I can't understand why there would be a need to nerf the one strength of the dome sheild. If it were more then 5.5 secconds i could undertsand the change maybe? But its now less then HALF it's duration used to be. It now provides little to no duration, little to no protection, and it's cooldown if 3x the amount it even lasts for. That's a 20~ second cooldown for a dome that lasts 5 seconds, and gets destroyed anyway in one clip. If it was super strong like the barricade i could understand it's low duration, but it isn't. It's only good quality it's not now is the fact it's a dome, I'd say it could still be used to revive but it'll just get popped mid rez.

More so, @gleaming tide makes some good points. Nerfing abilities and weapons like this is NOT how you balance a game and make if fun. Seeing things like a public beta environment so we can try out changes would be great, so we the community can provide feedback before it becomes a sure thing everyone hates. It would give the community more of a voice and more involvement in the game overall.

Throwing knives did not need a nerf. Nobody good at the game thinks they are oppressive. If you miss one shot your ttk was through the roof and extremely limited range + projectile. Was the trade off. All this does is make the weapon less fun to play.

Hey embark, everyone here hatin but personally, thank you for reading the strong majority’s comments and fixing a lot of stuff! Great patch notes!! The onlyyyy thing I think you should switch back is the respawn time. 15 secs is a litlleeeee too short. Wiping a team in 15 secs is doable it’s just a little difficult. However, I’m excited to try this bonus out because it could waste team coins quickly so it makes strategy a little more interesting. Idk consider it and watch it closely and maybe don’t do anything ab it. It’s not like omg that sucked or omg that was great just throwing out a concern. The other thing would be the dome shield…the health on that thing I think is weak enough to where it doesn’t rlly matter for duration. Maybe consider switching that back too. As a heavy main, heavy is still going to be meta dont even yap. Charge and slam is still an instant win button up close, rpg still does 140 damage, sa1216 still 4 pumps mediums and heavies if the heavies took any prior damage even a little. Winch still can move cashouts into advantageous positions. Dome shield is still long enough to beam one or two ppl, and open up fights with a hp advantage

I think the changes are completely fine! Heavies, relax! Dome shield still has the same amount of HP, winch claw still does what it does, just not as far. Do not overreact, please give Embark actual feedback to cook with!

I personally think they should’ve started with 7 seconds for Dome shield but they will monitor this channel to see if people need it to go back up at all.

Also Embark, Speaking of dome shield, can you make it so the MGL32 counts 1 bounce when it bounces off of the dome shield, or explodes on it when you hit your second bounce on it? ❤️

35days left in the season. We have had No events, No gamemodes, No map varients. Multiple gadgets never got lvl 6 7 or 8. Las vegas, a map that has been in the game, still does not have powershift. They claim they are focused on makeing the game fun but only add skins. They are constantly "balancing" a game that is supposed to be a game show but completely lacks a competitive experience. They go completely silent before and after patchs. I mean what even is this game? Is there even a roadmap? ORR are we just fly by seat until arc raiders comes out and they can abandon the game?

Winch nerf was good but I don’t think dome shield needed what it got, there’s other more problematic aspects of heavy like the charge n slam ability, low cooldown, multi hits on 1 target make it extremely strong

Dome shield didn't need any nerf. Thanks to this update you can no longer grab totem from distance. For exemple I used to grab the totems of my dead team mate from an upper floor or a small distance. The distance was always between 14 to 17 m. With this update this use of the claw is just useless.
Thanks embarks the heavy is now useless. At least they nerf the throwing knife a little bit, took them only 2 months...
There is still the dagger one shotting you when the light is facing you due to server lag...

I have a good guess the dome was getting used too much in power shift and maybe the devs wanted to designate it mostly for revives or steal captures/decrypt

Shield dome has never been an issue and many will migrate to barricade as a result

This shows a lack of understanding that heavy is only overpowered when paired with a medium. Healbeam and defib get rid of heavies weaknesses by making them virtually invulnerable. Trust me, I'm an overwatch player and have seen first hand how OP support abilities can ruin a game. Heal beams strength needs to be drastically reduced, and defib I just cant see being fair in any iteration. It needs to be removed

If you didn't know this season was a kind of "filler" season because most of embark has been on vacation during this time. Next season should return to the kind of content we saw in s1 and s2. The devs don't go silent before and after patches—they actually often chat to people in this discord. Embark doesn't believe in roadmaps (prolly cause it causes stress for the team and would just end up making them release broken things that aren't ready yet). Arc Raiders and The Finals have two separate teams that focus only on their game so The Finals isn't affected by Arc Raiders at all

So a filler season means 3 months of nothing? I refuse to belive its so hard to make a gamemode that they couldnt even throw together a simple "all shotguns" or "melee only" gamemode. I understand that arc and finals are differnt Dev teams but that doesnt mean that they dont take resources away to work on other games. Lastly if they talk with people in the disc, its most likely people giving poor feedback or selctive feeback as to not upset them. I highly doubt they are even considering the opinions of anyone, proven by the horrible nerfs that no sane person would ask for. I love the game and truly want it to succeed but 600hrs into a game where not one of my concerns have been addressed is concerning. The single biggest issue is the servers. There are so many places they could take this game but right now, its just a glorified outfit simulator.

I sincerely hope there are some BUFFS on the horizon. really, really. at this point, every class will be un-fun to play. i'm a MEDIUM main and it's been nerfed into the ground. unless you run shotgun (which i don't like using in any game) then the viability of a medium is severely reduced.

DEMATERIALIZER - seriously needs a depth buff. i'm running into walls with another wall behind it on every map.

DATA RESHAPER - allow it to be used while glitched. no one uses it anyway, so may as well give it a solid buff.

FCAR - put back to how it was in S1 and S2. 20 bullets, higher damage. keep the recoil if it makes you happy.

AKM - buff bullet damage by 1.

i've been thinking a lot about what a medium is without the heal beam and defib. a second way to play is as a field reshaper. so demat with data reshaper allow me to come in and change the set ups from other teams.

i play other classes too (even got those 150 wins achievements with all classes), but truly vibe with the medium.

let me say, i LOVE this game. there is no other game like it on the market. there are A LOT of loud people complaining and begging for nerfs to this, nerfs to that. however, too much substraction and you'll be left in the negative. please ADD (aka buff) to the meta. balance the already strong weapons by making other weapons stronger.

Can a Dev please explain the reasoning behind the crosshair and even the static one not being actually static. Why do you make it bob around when moving? What is the point and what is this trying to accomplish? This is a competative shooter, the center dot should be center screen static at all times. I understand having a bloom portion of the reticle. But why does the dot move when you move? Please for the love of god change this. Make the crosshair truly static.

Dome shield has not been a relevant issue at all, for anyone vaguely competitive. Do you think people want to quit the game from getting flamethrowered/chargenslammed/sledgehammered more, or needing to take 1 singular clip to completely destroy a dome shield?

All of heavies most powerful specialties and weapons right now take the least amount of skill in the game and do insane amounts of damage. I genuinely dont understand what lowering the time on a dome does. not even lasting the length of a full cashout steal is insane. anyone that didnt download the game yesterday, especially if its more then a single person shooting it, can destroy a dome almost as soon as the dome thrower pulls the gun back out. its health is already low enough, seriously what weird statistics have you found that makes you think someone using a dome shouldnt be rewarded for the enemies just never taking 3 seconds to shoot it out

I understand though, shooting or running in vaguely the direction of the enemy to kill the insanely quick with weapons and specialties that have no skill shouldnt be nerfed and are good for the health of the game, dome shield is what we need to focus on nerfing, a utility that actually needs someone to use their brain to deploy at the right time and hold left click at for a few seconds to break

Dome shield should last for 7 or 7.5 unless destroyed, most of the time using dome shield beforehand it would be broken in less than 5 secs of shooting at it now it's not up long enough to even have a chance to be broken

Requesting a better QOL for the Guardian Turret

I would really like to be able to see the health of my turret at all time after I place it. Maybe it should be added to the UI.
Also when pressing Q, I need the turret to be highlighted like opponents are with a sonar grenade. So that I can see where amd how far it is for close recolletion.

I fail many times to retrieve my turret at the right time when it's being shot, because I don't realise it s being shot. And many times I lose it, because someone broke its support, and it has moved away.

Also done shield has a DIRECT COUNTER in the game in glitch barrels and glitch grenades (shooting it, especially team shots also takes 2 seconds and it was a non-issue)

5.5 seconds a light can now just disengage and regen their health in almost the same amount of time (1.5s longer) and then re-engage the heavy and get shots off to stop their regen

Dude the wt grind was (and I’m pretty sure still is) impossible at the start, if you were to start from bronze four you would have to get 3 wins a day consistently for 46 days when I last checked you would have to play 2 and a half or so hours to get all 3 wins and considering a win rate of 33% then you have to spend 6-7 HOURS A DAY GRINDING FOR EMERALD ONE, Plus solo queue is the single worst thing for trying to get emerald in world tour without good teammates. Dear Oscar,

Have you considered changing the way you stream The Finals? Instead of jumping into matches yourself, how about featuring a "Team of the Day" and hosting a friendly competition? You could invite players who are interested in joining your live stream to compete in a private custom match, while you take on the role of a spectator to watch and comment on the gameplay. If a team wins, you could reward the lucky winners with prizes, like in-game items or The Finals t-shirts. You can decide how many matches to hold, depending on what works best for you. Just be sure to stock up on those rewards! I hope you have a blast with the live streams!

Not everything should be attainable for everyone, you aren’t entitled to have a chance at every skin or item in the game.

Exclusivity on skins and such is a good thing.

Before the update I did the math for myself on how long it would take me to reach emerald 1 from the points i was at right instead of sleeping like a dum a, (around middle of silver 4) and at minimum time I would spend if I won every game assuming they are 40 minutes each then it would take 72 HOURS FOR ME TO REACH EMERALD ONE. But factoring that I got like a 33% win rate it would take around 216 HOURS, THAT IS ALMOST 6 HOURS A DAY ON THE FINALS AND (was) 109 WINS MINIMUM. The math is outdated now and I appreciate embark for lowering the amount of wins needed but i still think they need to address the emerald rank more and handle the problem of solo queueing (cause it’s impossible to determine if you get good teammates before you start a game, I AM NOT SAYING TO ADD SKILL BASED MATCHMAKING ANYTHING BUT THAT, I’m talking about something like a bonus for winning the final round or something if you solo queued. Or something to help solo queue)

the decrease in amount of wins required for emerald 1 isnt even a super big one, but its about the principle, how we had a defined amount that we would have to reach and now its been changed because some people complained about it.

honestly i dont think it would have been any better if the number was raised instead of lowered.

but the other issue that comes up with lowering it, is that it was changed in favor of the casual playerbase, so more people could get emerald 1, more people would have the skin, makes it less rare, and is really an insult to people who were grinding for emerald 1. Just off principle.

Modern game dev try to make a fun experience without nerfing it all into the ground a year after release challenge. It seriously feels like not a single studio right now understands this. Helldivers, COD for years, Fortnite when it was in its hayday, and now this. Embark, please get people to play test your balance changes before you put them out. Don't treat your player base as game testers or lab rats who will play these changes and give you feedback (most of them which are just based on skill issue) and you just change them. Hire some experienced people who can actually look into what needs balancing and what doesn't and play test it before you release it to the public, please.

When can we solve the disgusting task of "stop opponents from stealing cachout 15 times"? Countless people have commented on the weirdness of this decision and the difficulty of this task. you haven't been in any medium range fights. medium range is where most gun fights happen. with the 1887, the spread is tight enough to deal 128 damage at mid range. your simple logic indicates that you haven't reached any rank higher than plat. all gun fights don't happen at long range, indoor fights exist you know. you don't even play medium, and I have hundreds of hours on medium, so i'd like to think that I have more experience than you do. 1887 is the #1 counter against lights as a medium, in high skill lobbies. also, the range is not the problem, the spread is. at long range, an akm can deal more damage compared to 1887 due to accuracy, but the damage dropoff makes it ineffective, thats why medium thrives in mid range. in mid range, 1887 dominates, that is my point. next time dont just google translate my message and ask someone to read it to you if you want to really understand.

Throwing Knife right-click is still useless, there are zero use case scenarios where it's a better idea to use right-click over left click. The enemy is dead with left click before the right-click gets thrown. Maybe if it had better headshot damage, but there's no point. You can kill a light with 1 left-click to the head, why waste 2 seconds winding up a throw to potentially miss (and then are delayed from throwing your basic attack). Mediums also take another basic attack after being headshotted by a right-click. It makes zero sense.

The cited reason for nerfing the dome shield shows that you don't understand what makes the game fun. Last minute steals are what keeps the game exciting. "Securing the area first" just means you guys want the finals to play like every other shooter in the market.

I think adding a mode where each time has only 1H 1M 1L would be great from a competitive perspective. There can be an unranked tournament mode where people can run MMM MMH HHM or whatever they want. This will make players play all classes and probably give alot of balance to the game.

It is not useless. You can stay in cover while you charge your R click and peak out of cover to hit opponents instead of having to stay out of cover to use L click. You just don't know how to use the R click. Don't call it useless.

Plus you can also fake out heavy shields. If they’re holding it up and you charge a R click instead of spamming L, they might let go of it and you can get a hit in

Second, did you think AKM or Fcar should shoot someone from 50m and at the same times he can against shot gun in 10m ? Maybe your opponent never stand on roof, suspend structure or movement platform to against the M1887 or just jumpping in the sky and shoot the target consistently, so you still think the M1887 is better than rifle. Rifle can suit any situation and M1887 only has advantage in indoor 1v1 fight with massive risk.
Did you never seen any The finals contest? Medium always take AKM, FCAR, even R.357, range fight best fight range for Medium and the noob just cry for M1886 kill him with two shot.
I have 2000h FPS experience, 500hr in The Finals and main to play sword, I have been kill by M1887 often and hated to against it with my sword, but I still think AKM of Fcar is more powerful than M1887, because I considering always can do more thing and do it better with AKM of Fcar or any other rifle like Flatline, R301, Soldier 76, R4-c. Range rifle is always the mainstream choose in FPS, The finals is no exception.

i dont hate the 1887, i use it myself but i still think its overpowered. i use the akm because its more versatile but the 1887 still is more powerful against mediums in mid or close range fights, which are 70% of the fights im in, since we can't always play range against 1887. if you check the finals ttk chart, the model has the same ttk for light and medium, 2 shot. but akm and fcar have vastly different ttks for light and medium.

also @misty jasper its not about knowledge, its about experience, which is indicated by hours. also the current wt climate is that 3 stack mediums often run 1887 in a medium heavy lobby. because it has much better risk reward ratio compared to an automatic weapon

Yeah, but using “experience” as a reason that your opinion is the right one is not viable. Everyone has their own experiences, as I also trust my own experience that AKs are much more consistent than the 1887 in winning mid range fights. TTK is not everything either. Range, ammo count, fire rate, reload speed, headshot multiplier, dmg fall off, are all factors that the 1887 lacks compared to an AR. Your entitled to your opinion and I can see how some ppl might find the model op, but imo it is one of the most balanced weapons in the game. It just has more spotlight after they kinda killed the FCAR (in terms of dominance)

Idea for improving cashout games:
You can make the cashout station work like an APS for the DEFENDING TEAM ONLY. This will prevent dome shields of stealing teams from being deployed on the cashout station and will further incentivize defending a cashout rather than swooping and third partying everyone. This will also help the defending team's mines and other traps from being destroyed by projectiles or other thrown gadgets making it harder for stealing teams to just come in and have a clean attempt at stealing the cashout. Teams would then do everything in their power to start a cashout first.
Also, if the cashout stations are not active, it should act as an APS against EVERY TEAM so campers would be deterred.
Then you can revert the nerf to the dome shield so it works well during fights, but still avoid it being used for stealing objectives

You can’t except the AKM, FCAR, and FAMAS to be better at a shotgun at close range, which I know you don’t considering you mention how unfair it is to have an 1887 ape you. Then why not, knowing that an opponent is running 1887, keep your distance and pick off their health until the fight is in your favor? Why is it that the 1887 is the problem if AR players don’t know how to back out instead of charging a shotgun player? ARs destroys 1887 at range and all you have to do is keep distance, take cover to bait a couple of shots, and keep moving.

I played about 150h this season here is my review

Cons:

-absurdly toxic mates in many matches( Reputation System? )
-many ppl go afk or leave the lobby before the match even starts( ff vote system needed)

  • all the new weapons that came with the seasons r totally garbage and feel
    unviable most of the time and I feel burned out by fcar, ak, mp5,..
    -some cash out locations r insane, like Platform on skyway,...
    -very unbalanced matchmaking, and very frustrating for soloq
    -TA Ranked, is beyond garbage as we all know
    -3rd party happens way too often

Everything else is rly enjoyable, like world tour, maps, UI,..

The Pagoda(?) tower in Kyoto, the really super tall one in the middle of the map, can be brought down which causes the servers to completely freak out. No matter the platform used, the game becomes nearly unplayable for a period of time.

This is more of a band aid fix idea, but how about reinforcing the bottom half of the tower? Make the bottom half indestructible. Therefore the tower can still be brought down to reduce high ground for snipers and etc., AND the servers won't struggle as hard, or at all since there's less to put resources into.

I hope you see this and consider this idea, or a better one.

Revert the dome shield changes. Please. I’m not a heavy main, but we rely Heavily (pun intended) on our Heavy teamates when we need to steal or heal- especially in powershift. I’m not sure what issues people were still having with heavy after all the guns were nerfed to heck, but taking one of the best team utilities they have isn’t it.

That dome shield nerf was a horrible decision. It already doesn’t absorb that much damage, especially when being used in power shift. It’s also easily countered by a glitch grenade. Heavys really didn’t need a nerf tbh.

We need a rework of the quit penalties.

Currently, if someone leaves, they don't get the penalty unless they again choose 'leave' in the lobby.

This means people can quit the game and just sit in the lobby for 5 mins instead of being penalized for 10mins/1hr.

This also means (as has happened to me) that if I want to quit now i'm 1/2 people down, I get the penalty, even though they're the ones who left me to fight alone.

So now I have to either fight on hopelessly, or do the same lobby trick.

How about you make a separate Q for those that do NOT have a 3 stack. A Solo Q for each mode. Then you can keep even with the other teams as every time I get randoms they end up being every brand of the spectrum bad. Some have even taught me new ways people can be bad surprisingly. Your opinion is M1887 is OP and I don't think so. It's simple.
You say you are correct but don't have directly evidence, great logic.
You say the range isn't the problem, and I say the game has suspend structure, movement platform, roof. I even no mention about many map has flat and broad point need to defend like SYS, Skyland or Las Vegas.
You say AKM is versatile and also M1887 is better in 70% fight you're in. Maybe correct in Kyoto or Monaco.
You say M1887 TTK is broken. What the? If everyone's shotgun can always full shot and never loss any time why them just take sniper and head shot everyone? That is more OP.

The game don't have movement so auto range weapon is more easily to track and get kills, and shotgun only have advantage in indoor 1v1 fight and AKM can suit in most of situation and doing well.
How do you get the M1887 is more OP than AKM?
And if M1887 is good to against range weapon, why S2 the LMG and Fcar meta is so broken?

What is a good balance for a weapon? Has advantage to use and has disadvantage to be against, and make the environment to make the advan and disavan balance.
If AKM can make a great damage in any range and situation, it should at disadvantage with close fight and enemy pick.
If M1887 can do well in close and mid fight also it is the best picking weapon, It should at disadvantage with melee or range weapon, that can fire consistence on your face or just take opponent down at range broad flatform.

Now the problem is the melee weapon is dog shit in most of situation you know?
If Embark can make the melee more powerful, it will make the range gun better and the mid range shotgun, flamethrower, throwing knife more dangerous to use, so I say the need to MECHANICALLY WAY to balance the DOG SHIT MELEE WEAPON it can balance the whole environment in The Finals.

New weapon:tactical axe(light) and it’s based on tf2 shovel

Add a secondary attack fast downward lunge attack for axe while falling and since u go fast downward.gravity isn’t floaty that does more damage the higher u fall,good for grapple hook.

  • range: they have the same range(they are both hitscan weapons meaning that they can both hit cross map but the damage for ak is higher at long range is because it doesn't have bullet dispersion in a spread pattern, has higher damage per bullet, and less damage dropoff.

  • structures: if i engage in combat with a 1887 at long range, they will run, of course they will. i don't always have the benefit of being high up or far away, thats how the game works. you're right, if i had the option, i would always take a suspended structure, movement platform or roof. but choosing to play far would hurt my team to help me.

  • combat: most fights happen at close or mid range, i estimated 70% for me. the 1887 has a tight enough spread to deal 128, half health in one shot at mid range, not to mention close range.

  • class synergy: medium class allows the player to stay super close to their team and heal and insta revive. its a problem, especially with HMM or HHM, which was the meta before the nerfs(idk now). the medium becomes a walking medic/damage dealer with the 1887. the problem compounds when several group together. the potential loss of the 1887 is missing shots, but even then partial damage is rewarded for a slight miss. compared to the r357, it does almost headshot damage for a bodyshot

  • movement: the 1887 is equally accurate hipfire, which means that mediums can counterstrafe much faster with walking instead of ads speed and dodge shots from an automatic weapon whereas the 1887 only needs to hit 2 or 3 bodyshots or partial bodyshots, not to mention cover

  • s2: fcar had 25 damage back then so the metas are completely different, i used to main fcar and mediums rarely used 1887 until light metas came around

  • other garbage weapons: just because I argue about one broken weapon doesn't mean I don't think bad weapons should be buffed, dont put words in my mouth (also 20m is ideal distance for 1887, you ever been two pumped as a medium? its not fun. )

The new spawning logic and the values of vaults feels too skewed towards 3rd and 4th teams. I consistently get cucked on the 2nd round of tourney bc those teams get a vault and then end up getting $22k + $1k vault open + $7k starting cashout + $Xk for any shitty kills they rack up. This rewards very bad players instead of rewards good players by making them fight for the last vault out of desperation not necessity. Then those good teams end up killing each other while the bad teams get rewarded for letting it happen. You're putting too much advantage into the teams defending now also with the defender respawn timer speed up as well which is just icing on the shit cake for this. I'd highly suggest flattening the curve of $ flow from vaults to be less of gaps so that 2nd place doesn't feel useless and 1st place actually is rewarding again. It also is heavily skewing the meta as well to fast, responsive offensive teams which is why you guys had to nerf dome shield bc no duh, it fit the playstyles you guys laid out.
Again, fuck off kindly if you're not Embark, unless you have something constructive and thought out to add to add.

@true epoch the gateway has been broken for about 4 patches. essentially once every three games after getting revived or coining in your gateway wont be able to be placed you will just spam animations. i think this might have something to do with reviving outside of the 70 meteres when one end of your gateway is thrown, but i havent confirmed that yet

But still say the biggest problem in The Finals is most of weapon have big disadvantage in some case.
For ex, MGL54, CL40 can't easily fire high position from low position, all melee weapon can't attack anyone who have distance with him, sniper can't doing well in close distance to against shutgun.
Close and mid distance the best distance to M1887 because don't have a lot of weapon to against it perfectly any just choose the range weapon or the dog shit melee and be 2 shot kill by skillful M1887 player.
This game have only have one weapon once, If a weapon at most of time it can do well like AKM or FCAR, it should be have big disadvantage in some situation, it's the basically FPS game design problem.

saying 1887 has the same range as an AK proves that you are spewing hot garbage. Yes, TECHNICALLY, an 1887 can HIT an opponent at the same range, but how effective is it? A good 1887 will not always "run" when encountering a player with a height advantage. Cover, movement, and finding better angles are also options.

Dynamic effect on flamethrower is harder to see than on AK or the other gun.
To combat this I think making the "fuel tank" start out glowing fully hot while ammo is at full capacity and slowly getting more dim as ammo depletes.

Speed up the lava skin effect by like 2-3x so it's more noticeable. (10/10 skin btw 👍)

Throwing knives still need some sort of stamina/slow down system, maybe add a tiny delay to each throw which increases per throw? Either something like that or there has to be a hard limit on throws until a cooldown kicks in. No weapon should be infinitely spammable with no reload or cooldown, it's just dumb.
(The same applies to sword+dash combo but I don't use it enough to know what a solution would be)

XP-54 is still too 'easy mode' imo and maybe needs more spread over distance and/or more recoil.

Sniper rifle is long overdue for a rework. Add bullet drop and reduce bullet velocity over distance.

There is still a critical bug where players lose the ability to fire any weapon or gadget. Using emote usually fixes it but it's highly unpredictable.

Some player intro screens still have that bug where basically the whole screen is white.

Random stutters started happening(at least for me) after either 3.8 or 3.9.

Allow us to select music from previous seasons. S1 is still the best.

For the love of Jiminy Christmas allow us to see our ping (and maybe network stats too) to the server.

Change the menu button for Terminal Attack to plain text in size 8 font and put it in the bottom right of the screen. Then when you click on it, it should connect you to a cashout match.

Day 2 of asking for the ability to see the charge on our teammates specializations beside their name and HP.
Obviously theres a few here that stand out, so i'll address an idea for them:
Winch, Charge, Grapple: Would show cooldown
Dash, demat: Would show current charges, and time until next charge
Goo gun: Would show current ammo
Turret: Would display either green (ready), yellow (deployed) or red (recharging) along with time until recharged
Mesh shield, Heal beam: Would display the current % of the gadget, or show the recharge time if depleted/overheated
Cloak: Would show current value as a %

I have jiust discovered that if you place and pick up the APS repeatedly you can have infinite aps aslong as you are never interupted because picking it up gives you full placement back which means that you can replace it which resets its hp. simple fix just have its hp be equal to the amount of recharge it returns

But I've lost all enjoyment in this game grinding for emerald. WT used to be fun. If you won a round, cool, I got some points. You could fuck around and it didn't matter. Now it's all just wasted time if you make it to the second or final round and can't win. Literal wasted time in a lobby full of sweats. My friends and I get angry with each other because of positioning or bad calls, third partying is more abundant than ever (people are leaving their cashouts to come fourth party because fuck it, why not), and it's just not a real grind anymore geared towards casual players.

As it stands, the penalty is so low that the second Cashout will often get contested by all 4 teams if it started late, because the first team will attack ot too when theirs is finished.

Because why not? There's almost nothing to lose by doing so. And even if you do wipe, it's often nearly completely mitigated by kill bonuses earned during the fight.

This means you don't just get 3rd partied, but 4th partied. Frequently. Which makes it a pretty joyless slog at times.

And again - the final is terrible and anticlimactic. It's boring and vanilla, and a stripped down version of a casual mode.

Which is made worse because the game is literally called THE FINALS. But the actual final is the most basic, underwhelming mode in the whole game, and doesn't even have a unique win cutscene.

It's as if the Baseball World Series final decided to settle it with a game of Softball instead.

Remove sys$horizon, it is without a doubt the worst map in the entire game. The respawns suck, the cashout placements suck, the environmental destruction replaced by stuff just phasing out sucks the most probably. Nothing about it is fun as of right now. Make it an actual city center where there's destructible cars and buildings. We can see cars on the ground in seoul just strategically place them and make them an explosive.

I know theres a thousand other bugs that need to be fixed like coins not being taken away for self revives, and everything still not fixed from the closed betas. But keeping a map like sys$horizon around just feels desperate for content. Remove it like you did cashout for ranked, but instead of just sitting around with it left out of rank and re-implementing it exactly how it was before, actually make some decent changes. Crazy concept I know, doing your jobs and such, but hey, consider this one on the house.

Still need the model and xp54 nerfed too, and the balancing team completely replaced by anyone. Chatgpt would unironically probably do a better job by this point, don't make it worth it

PLEASE add a penalty for leaving during a game of power shift. Tired of the enemy team getting wiped once at the start of the game and they all just leave. Defender bonus makes defenders far too powerful. Not only do you not lose a coin for doing so, you respawn twice as fast. It's better to have one anchor, push middle map, if you die there's zero penalty and you can even kill yourself to get back to your point faster before the other teams can reach it. For example, in the patch notes you have stated "This change encourages teams to start and defend cashouts rather than swooping in late." but this change has the opposite effect due to the fact that two players can swoop in late and have a safety net of beating the other teams that wipe back to their original point where the 3rd player is anchoring by dying.

I think a good change for the RPG to address its "nuke" status would be to give it two charges and split the amount of player damage it currently does across both charges while leaving the amount of environmental/structural damage the same. not only would you be slowing down the rate of damage it outputs, but two charges would simultaneously increase the potential spread of damage over a larger area- incentivizing players to use it more as a tactical ranged destructive weapon (much like the thermal bore) while not entirely ridding it of its damage potential in fights.

I second this opinion, but with less insults.

I also dont like the last patches before this, because the inserting a box is a huge problem and only causes more cheeky plays which is what you said you would get rid of by adding it, and the 10% wipe penalty is the same as the 15 second respawn timer. You are trying to fix a fundamental part of the game that most people enjoy by replacing it with broken mechanics that make the system worse.

both 15 second respawn timer and 10% penalty are basically free, almost never does a 10% loss come into play, and 15 second respawn timer even without the free coin is incentive to send people across the map knowing if they die they respawn almost instantly. This actually makes 3rd partying worse, but I have no idea who could have seen that coming except basically any player who actually plays this game.

Adding all of these complications definitely not only makes the game itself worse, but makes it more complicated to explain to a new friend that i want to play the game. Its insane that every time that i invite my friend that plays maybe 4 times a season, i have to explain to him how the whole game is basically 1000 times worse than it was before and how we are abusing broken changes that dont make sense. He always says "great" and i know he isnt coming back until i beg him to hop on again.

This is the case with a guy who knows the fundamentals up to that point, I cant imagine explaining to a new player "oh we just have to get the box in, its worth points, oh he has a glitch trap which basically means he takes our box, no theres nothing we can do about it, we have to go to the other point because 3rd partying is better because kills are worth 500, i know its complicated but we have to fight here even though the other box is easier to take because its worth more money, oh yea that guy has a winch so you are just a free kill sorry, no theres nothing you could do about that either, basically we have to leave now and run to the other box because its worth more money and you will have to respawn." etc. etc.

Basically there is no way to explain the game to a new player and win. It would take a week, and they would probably not enjoy it.

Youre overcomplicating a simple game because people got good at it, by adding rules that make it worse, by giving an advantage to people who know how to abuse rules rather than just being happy that some people enjoyed your game enough to get good at it.

Dont even get me started on winch vs dome shield argument, @mossy karma hit that dead on the point, just re read what they had said a second time. Nobody complained about dome shield. Nobody cared about it. Everybody has a problem with winch. Dafuq

I stand by the fact that its obvious that whoever is making these changes either only plays the game at the most basic level, or doesnt play the game at all. You need to find a new person to be put in charge of what changes make it through, somebody had mentioned a play test group for players, that makes alot of sense if you have a good percentage from each skill level giving feedback.

Please stop haphazardly adding rules like "respawn 15 seconds if you own the box!"

I do not agree with the dome shield going down to 5.5. 8-9 seconds would be a big change, but still not too bad. Now with winch claw being reduced I don't want to be heavy anymore.

That being said, if anything needs to be fixed, I think the stun gun is OP. I'll be playing and BOOM I can't move and get absolutely shredded in a second. It doesn't give a fair chance to anyone else. Theres nothing more I hate than dying because I literally couldn't do anything. At least without the stun gun I die cause the other team is better

  • so whats bad about low grav? as a movement player i find low grav very annoying, yeah sure it make hard jump easier and impossible jump now possible but in combat it make jumping a death wish as it make you a very easy target when falling.
    (i have so many clip of me beaming people who use jump pad in low grav)

I just can't stand it anymore, played WT yesterday: UE crashes, overdose of garbage level-design Kyoto and almost every team has L with Stun Gun and H with Winch+Sledge (i play Sledge+Goo Gun from the start of S2)

Lights only play 3 weapons: XP-54 (ez to control recoil pattern, almost zero damage drop off at mid/long range), LH1 (Extreme DPS, ez to control recoil pattern), TK (attack spam without penalty for missing, hig DPS), Heavies only use Winch+Sledge, strong Mediums always use Model 1887 (outperforms ARs at mid range)

  • new bug because of which defending team doesn't even consume coins when reviving

Yet some stupid people keep asking for already strong and even balance breaking guns and Specializations to be buffed further while there are some weapons/Gadgets that aren't even used in competitive game modes

It seems that with such terrible balance changes this game is doomed

M60 is a bullet hose weapon with practically no recoil and insanely big mag size and has less damage because of those factors.

Please make the “Game Modifiers” more effective or game changing (except for Low Gravity).
-Maybe bring back The Dead Go Boom? (AKA, Martyrdom)
-Make Mega Damage do, I don’t know, something? When Mega Damage is active, nothing changes. Make any regular explosion, like grenades or grenade launchers destroy structures.
-Meteor Shower only rains meteors on the one cashout in certain modes… please just change it to the entire arena, not one small spot.
-Maybe make Alien Invasion more of a threat?
-Low Gravity is fine where it’s at, no need for change.
-Orbital Lasers need to be a little faster, or if not faster, instead more destructive.
-Make the rate of fire on Retro Invasion a lot faster. It barely damages the arena, I don’t even know if it damages players, because it’s so rare to be hit by one of those things. You look up and say “oh that’s cool” and keep playing, not see it as a threat.
-Maybe add another event to the arena, like a tornado or something. Being caught in it will, obviously, swirl you around, and structures thrown from the tornado will do damage to the contestants.
Please, make the events actually feel like an event.

Improved menu idea: More detailed players status, like what game mode they're playing, if they're away, full or looking for group.
-Players will be able to change their statuses if they wanna let people join their party or not, or if they're away (AFK).
-Players will be able to send messages to their friends.

The green door would mean that if you click it you can join that party since it's an open party or because you got invited.
The chat bubble would let you send messages to your friends.
Make invites have a sound effect since several times I've been invited and I didn't notice because I was doing something else.

I have a few thoughts I would like to share with you🙂

The thing I like the most here is commuinity, cases of someone being rude, trolling or uncooperative are really rare! I suspect that this is largely due to the lack of allchat and the ability to write to people after the game. However, this is also a disadvantage because it is more difficult to arrange sessions with someone. A nice solution would be the ability to send someone an invitation message when they are outside the game.

The main reason why I'm writing is the fact of static rewards for events, I'm specifically talking about Emerald 1 in the world tour. I am a player who has found his loadout and although I appreciate the variety the game offers, I am not particularly interested in it. I always play with loadout L/cloaking device/sh1900/frag/stungun/goo grande, I won emerald 2 and I don't see any incentive to grind because emerald 1 only gives me AK which I won't use anyway.
and here comes my question: do you plan for more customized rewards in the form of, for example, a token for emerald 1 that would authorize the player to receive an emerald skin for any weapon or something similar?

What is embark thinking? I play every class but have been a heavy main since OB. Shield has always been a part of my loadout until the start of this season. I switched to motion sensor or double mines. I switched because it took a long time after the last shield nerf to admit to myself that the shield is useless. They still have enough ammo to kill you after shield goes down almost instantly, without reloading. If more than 1 person is shooting at you, it goes down so fast that sometimes you aren't even sure you really put the shield up. That is how I felt about it before this recent nerf. Who told embark that the useless shield needed a nerf? & What on earth was the reason that convinced them to do it? It is NOT because it helps steal cash outs too much. Being able to block half a mag from 1 player will NOT help steal a cashout without serious backup from your team. So I ask again, WTF????

Winch is a problem. Heavy does need a way to close the distance in a fight. Flames & both melee weapons are useless against a light with dash. But the "mortal Kombat come here move" is ridiculous & too oppressive. (Coming from a heavy main) A short speed boost of some kind is all heavy needs. Give it a good cool down so that it's only used 1nc per fight & I think it would be a lot better than an instant "grab n kill" button.

From the end of S1 I've played with and against every class and weapon in this game and i know what I'm talking about

I started from M with FCAR and then switched to H with Mesh and M60 in S2. A few weeks later a got bored of this gameplay cuz i was winning most of gunfights with the only only exception being really skilled guys who got way better aim and reaction

If you were unable to kill opponents with firearms H had in S2 it's clearly a skill issue bro, no offence

Being killed with dagger, the most situational melee weapon in a game is a shame. Try to play it yourself if it seems so easy to you

Heavy pulls it out & gives him/herself a shot of adrenaline, basically getting charge & slam w/o the damage/destruction. @nerf stun gun yes but I'm talking about a gadget not spec. No damage just speed. Just a way to close distance or run when needed. I just feel that would've been better than winch but idk

I have been playing since S1 as well, I began as Light and transitioned to Heavy. I never mentioned Season 1, did I? What I said was clear enough to convey the fact that having a few stats more doesn't means that you're overpowered. The Finals is a game where every class has its advantages and disadvantages thus making every class at par with each other.

I can go around throwing skill-issue-bro comments, but I choose to speak from my experience. Lets not go down the low road.

It all should come down to TTK and H shouldn't obliterate every other class with his firearms thats why some some of them got nerfed

Speed boost doesn't necessarily have to look like Lights Dash especially if we're talking about Heavys speed boost. And yeah, during Slam Heavy moves faster than usual so it can be considered a speed boost too

The fact that it damages you right after being activated is the whole other question to discuss. I personally always wanted Slam to be nerfed so it wouldn't be another option to deal tons of damage with zero effort

Please look into matching up the visual range of sledge/spear with the actual damage range of the weapon. Also there is no reason smgs should be more accurate at range than the ARs

Casuals hate, Experienced laugh at. Has high DPS, but dies if sneezed on, but casual players cannot pin them down. How to fix it?
~ 150 > 175 HP
~ Slightly lower DPS
~ Slightly larger hitbox
~ More automatics

Heavy
Experienced hate, Casuals laugh at. Big ass health pool but 0 chase in casuals eyes, yet raw HP and mitigation fucks up higher elo, completely replacing light for damage as their sustain is too high
~ 350 > 325 HP
~ Lower utility damage, winch / charge / rpg
~ Increase recoil control lewis/m60
~ More automatics

  • its not a buff to winch claw its a quality of life thing. try useing the overwatch roadhog claw and the claw in this game. way less annoying and clunky feeling in overwatch and i dont play overwatch.
  • a defib heals and rpg nerf tweaks also thinkng would be massive improvement to game balance.
  • riot shield probably should have the same ads walking speed as dual blades.

In beta they gave you about 10,000 free credits just to customize your character(they took it away obv when the game actually released). I also have all seasons battlepass rewards and challenge items from day one. Also they literally announced it on 2023 Game Awards in a really epic fucking way when it came out, but you wouldn't know about that seeing as you just bandwagon. You're psycho lol Go be aggressive somewhere else.

Stun gun should be a team fight weapon instead of a 1v1 weapon. What if the stun gun actually worked like one in real life? Instead of having the tazer effect activate instantly on use-- have it be to where you have to keep the stun gun out (in hands) to use it. Make it to where you can't shoot primary weapon as light and use the stun gun. But have the stun gun be useful in a teamfight to where it can incapacitate someone for a few seconds at the expense of the person using its inability to shoot their primary weapon. So a light would only use it to stop a cash-out or in a teamfight to CC a tank so their teammates can secure the kill. It would be weaker or useless in 1v1s but more devastating in teamfights.

The person affected by the stun gun would get a display message saying "TAZED" and they would be locked unable to move or shoot for a few seconds.

This would reward lights who stick by their teammates and make lights have the hardest CC in the game

Have the right click on the stun gun disengage the tazer effect, if the light leaves the targets radius, the taze effect is broken

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX game changing its graphics settings everytime I load it up. everyday I play the game I have to change all my graphics settings back to what I preffer, for no reason. I'm pretty its the game checking your system stats and setting it the a preffered/ optiomal setting, but for me thats everything on Epic settings, which is such a pain to keep changing. PLEASE fix this, is a pain.
