Wrong. Eg your ping directly to a game server might be 180ms. Sometimes, if you use a VPN, your ping to the VPN might be 20ms then the ping from VPN to the game server might be 100ms, reducing your overall delay by 60ms. Note I keep saying potentially, as it doesn't apply to everyone and will vary between ISP's and location.

It’s a fairly common issue whether intentional or not. Servers issues and technical difficulties are almost bound to happen on launch. The good news is that they’ve acknowledged they were wrong about what it was initially and are working on a fix 👍
