The obvious connection would be a Caesar cipher, but there's also Caesar's Comet (Star of Caesar), and maybe even Nero Caesar's connection to 666. Besides those, I'm struggling to connect him anywhere else.

There's a line to be drawn somewhere between metadata and exif data. Metadata includes the 2015-11-06 date under "Date Taken". Exif data includes the Photoshop layer history and user project directory etc.

I tend to draw that line at what Windows' file properties displays, and what only a dedicated exif viewer displays.

Using Rob's measurements of the circle diameters I've overlayed my own circles onto them, found their centers, then used those centers to find the angle between the circles.
I got 165.4°, which is just a rounding down of @timid solstice 's calculation here:

To me its more likely that G and O are actually 6 and 0, which could be 06 68 or June 1968.
Seems way too much of a coincidence that the T9 encoding comes out to roman numerals over an image of a roman emperor.

Try the "Browse bit planes" button.

Looks like the "Extract data" button is just a way to combine bit planes in specific ways, then convert the bits to strings.
There's so many permutations of that, that it would be nearly impossible for us to get the right ones without being guided there somehow.

I would strongly advise against looking for anything meaningful in the "Extract data" interface, unless we learn something from a clue which points us in that direction

I was using bit planes to look for the "A." in that region and found some areas in which multiple bit planes have consistent features. In my experience this typically indicates a "real image feature" and not noise.

Looks like possibly the letters "IN", but I wouldn't be surprised if these are part of a larger feature that needs a better technique for extracting

well i found an app that lets you inject/remove data into a PNG with a real time image viewer that lets you know if the file becomes corrupted or not. and all i really learned was that all those extra chunks of data can be consolidated and it removes 1 kb from the file size.

I think changing the color profile is literally a conversion, so it seems like it would be unlikely the conversion would make it easier to detect something which couldn't already be found in the base image.

Back then I was thinking about trying to create an Amiga color profile and convert our images to it.
