And what I do whenever there's a new image coming out is:
I download the image, upload it to https://stegonline.georgeom.net/upload and https://29a.ch/photo-forensics/#pca
At Stegonline the best features are LSB Half and Browse Bit planes
At Forensically you have the best luck with Noise Analysis and Luminance Gradient, but sometimes if lucky you can get good results with Prinicipal Component Analysis as well.
I also bring it into Photoshop and start messing around with "Adjustments" (So Brightness, Level Curves, Hue/Saturation, Color balances etc etc)

Whenever you encounter a weird thing, like a pattern or a string of text / numbers you need to try to figure out if you recognize the pattern. Does it look like coordinates, is it binary, can it be an anagram and so on and so forth.

It's only by doing and trying out stuff you'll begin to pick up on patterns and different ciphers ☺️
