To be honest man? I don't really like it that much. I know it's still in alpha so lots can change, but their current release timeline is only 6 months out so I don't know if any core mechanics can really change till then.

I've had a couple buddies really like the game, but others ones including myself don't really have it click. I've got around 4k hours in Destiny 2 and I see so many similarities between the two it's honestly kinda hilarious. Gun play as always feels good, guns sound good, that's always been Bungies thing. But in terms of the gameplay, it feels like a patrol area in Destiny with PvP enabled. I don't see anything else unique about it that I couldn't get in a ARC Raiders, Tarkov, Beautiful Light, etc. game. The color palette feels neat but also kinda washed and generic. Enemy type is repetitive from Destiny. If you look closely, the way the AI does base movement and gets dropped in is nearly identical to the Cabal in D2.

I think it's going to struggle at first especially with a $40 price tag when it has so many other great games in the sub genre being released here soon. Hunt Showdown, Beautiful Light, ARC Raiders, all take bites out of the core player audience that it's shooting for.

Ultimately, I think they're going to try and rush this game out the door since their playerbase and income from D2 are slowly dwindling (from lack of long term player engagement fixes, only short term near sighted goals with tons of bugs) and then have a sharp decline in their player base as they realize other games just do it better.

oh!, friends recently got me into Hunt Showdown, it's fun! i always looked past it but it's a neat game to play with buddies

Yea the player combat while solo feels sluggish and hard to make any meaningful change. In other games like Apex and ARC, I feel like I have a chance to play my surroundings and use my skill to be better than the enemy. But in Marathon I'm too slow/too predicable with movement and options to go to. Player health is high which is nice, but it means as a solo player you need two mags unless you get a single mag dump on them, which gives them a high chance to escape.

The enemies are super easy to predict and run entire waves solo if you understand how their ai works. It's not very complex and is easy to get to run 1 at a time into choke points. They just do lots of damage and the bigger ones are a bit bullet spongey so you're only at risk if you're caught out of cover.

Also, @sharp phoenix I pulled up the ARC website because I wanted to see if there was anything new on it. When hovering over the click areas it looks like there's an animation that's playing on repeat rather than just playing once. Do you know if this is a bug/where I can report this bug?

After that I restarted the game and was still able to connect, but I noticed that most players had problems connecting. Why did we lose rating points due to a lagging server? Proof of what? My computer just turned off recently. I turned it back on, went into the game, etc., but the game thought I hadn't reconnected after 5 minutes and just took 1300 points off my ranked score. Or the game might crash and throw an Unreal Engine error. History will repeat itself. I can't record my screen every time to prove that I reconnected and finished the game.

At the same time, when the third teammate did not reconnect and left the game completely, my friend and I lost 100% of the rating points that were declared for the place. Why is there no mitigation because we played as two against squads of 3?

Overall, the penalty system is just not well thought out. I think it needs to be improved based on player feedback.

Resumed work on my game since my senior project is coming up. Takes 9 seconds to load at the start due to loading threaded requests but this allows for instant level switching. Also cached it incase the game is restarted from the main menu so it doesnt take another 9 seconds to load everything again.

there was a guy saying it takes some time to unlock the steam option when you want to claim your key. But he has no evidence or credibility so not sure. But you know maybe its true and they are trying not to overflow the traffic on the servers with thousands of people going in at the same time.

By recently, I meant about half a year ago. Titanfall 3 was indeed in development 3-4 years ago, traces of it were found in the origin, but then development was stopped and the build was removed from the origin. But recently the development started from scratch, but as you can see, they decided to cancel the game again

I remember being into Destiny heavily for awhile (and was in the alpha), but I stopped caring when I realized the team was basically making up lore like they were going into an elementary school and asking kids for random ideas.

The advantage of arc raiders is it's supposedly going to be free to play and embark as a studio is more competent than bungie

I saw the trailer back when Marathon was first announced, and I'm like "You can't be serious." Sony is in this weird confused state, where they really don't seem to know what they're doing, nor have an identity. Their first thought seems to always be "What can we slap the 'Horizon' name on next?" or "People liked The Last of Us in 2013! Let's do that again, and again, and again, and again."

And I mean, I was a Sony superfan, even writing for PlayStationLifestyle for a few years, and this just flat-out is not the same company. When I heard why they passed on Shuhei Yoshida for CEO, it infuriated me.

That's why I think they should implement some form of a squadding up with randoms feature, like in DMZ. There's very little incentive to let other Raiders escape with their lives.
