honestly i wish there was something as high quality as ff16 that didn't adhere to the fantasy genre. it's like the book 1984 to me - great quality with regards to how it approaches society's questions and how they do worldbuilding and the plot overall, but i don't like medieval european inspired settings, nor would i like living in a totalitarian hell
unfortunately most of the games industry can't produce high quality games and/or otherwise involved companies come out as total pieces of shit.
a lot of people who are into games like final fantasy are in general like way more wholesome than those who are, like, into overwatch or whatever from what i've seen.
i hope the finals lives up to the hype. i hate having nothing to be hyped about (well except cities skylines 2 i guess but city builders are pretty damn niche for most people)

it's quite old and it's associated with electronic arts. latest game, i think andromeda, was a disaster. EA and the studio behind mass effect have no plans for further titles AFAIK. plus for gender reasons i want to avoid most games completely unless they have customization like the finals or the sims 4
