yes actually, a lot of viruses/malware target windows users because of its widespread use
if your brother does stuff other than gaming, it may be wiser to install something like elementary os, its more user friendly, has an app store, and imitates macos, and you can still run steam(and windows games as long as you force proton in the settings of the game)

there are less antiviruses available for linux though, so you might want to look for a linux-compatible antivirus for that 1% of linux malware

The only time I need to use the terminal is to install flatpak plugins on bottles like mangohud or vkcapture for obs. Unless it's a piece of software that only supports building it from source then i would just grab it from gnome software or kde's discover.

Linux is setup in a certain way with it's file system where you don't have permission to touch the root directory and how most packages that we use today (flatpak) are sandboxed and so there are permissions set inside of that sandboxed environment can't touch certain file systems on Linux not even your home directory. Of course system packages could affect you still

Even so getting a virus would be very hard because you would get your apps from repos/ppas/ in the store that are trusted so an app would have to go through lots of people to reach the store but it could still happen none the less if your not careful or decide to go on your browser and start downloading random system packages then yeah you would probs get a virus or some type of malware lol

Friends, can someone explain something to me that I still don't understand. I played the game and the performance is not so good, I don't know if it's me or the game. I have a 4070ti and an I5 12600K and they both work at about 50%, is this a problem with the game that still needs to receive updates or with me. I tried to change everything to DLLS and all kinds of things that were there, the performance is the same even after RT

Hey there. I'm coming from console and recently bought a laptop for gaming. I couldn't buy a regular PC do to my apartment size. I have Intel Core i7, 12700H CPU, 16GB ram, 1TB ssd and GeForce RTX 3070. I can run The Finals, but I don't know where to tweak the graphical settings in a manner so that I get a good looking game and high FPS. Any tips? Like, what's more okay to have on low settings, and what should be prioritized put on high ? Thx!
