I think 2042's destruction is capable. You can just run over all the buildings in Arica Harbor in 2042 with a tank. The type of buildings and assets they decide to place on maps really makes a difference.

2042’s main issue is one that i honestly dont feel right criticizing it for. the issue is that while technically the game has tons of content, even more than most battlefields had at this point in their lifespan, its divided up between AOW and portal, and so it doesn’t feel like it has that much content.

i dont think many people actually realize how much content there technically is

15 maps where at least 8 are 2-3x the size of normal bf maps, 80+ guns, tons of gadgets and vehicles for each of the 4 eras, infinite game modes, etc.

that said, that doesn’t make it the best battlefield or anything.

currently its my opinion that the specialists don’t really change much about the core battlefield experience. i think its pretty crazy how many people say specialists make it not a battlefield game and refuse to play it because of that simple fact.

that said, i do understand where they are coming from. i just think they either have some serious rose tinted glasses on, or they don’t know much about it and are just kinda programmed to not like them

hard disagree. i’ve never understood the claims about specialists messing up gameplay. the inly noticeable change to gameplay is unrestricted weapons and gadgets which battlefield desperately needed imo. locking weapons behind classes was always kinda stupid and pointless. gadgets i can understand, but also classes didn’t have “default” gadgets that that class was forced to use. i always hear people say that specialists make people “not play their roles” but this isn’t true because the specialists do have gadgets locked to them which forces that kind of teamplay. falck players are locked to playing as a healer, (as well as something else of their choice). i also see people say specialists allow for people to do everything at once and only play for themselves. this also isn’t true because again, you can only play two types of gadgets at once. the most “do it all” loadout i can think of would be falck with an rpg and a sniper, but then where are you getting your ammo from? you cant do everything. it still forces teamplay. also, more gadgets and more options makes for more diverse and creative and complimentary playstyles. my only personal gripe with them is how cringe they are but it seems they are fixing that.

@trim wind Barbarian is the hardest/worst class atm, I figured that out early too, its the first I tried, you have to have 2 other teammates with buffs and heals and its kind of hard to do that during fights, Fighter in general is just a better all around class and meta atm

Do you think different ammo/magazine types for weapons is a good thing in fps games? Modern Warfare and Battlefield have implemented it in the recent year, and I think it's not a good thing.

Having different caliber rounds, extended mags is probably realistic and fun to play around with. However it blurs the lines between different weapon types like smg, ar and lmg. Also it makes balancing even harder, because every gun can become vastly different just by changing the magazine type.

Some games don't do that either which I think is fine too. I think that having the same weapon configurations would make the game repetitive and you would slowly build up muscle memory on how to kill people. I like when patterns are broken in any event in a game because it makes the game less repetitive to me, that's why, in 2042 when I have to shoot someone 3 more times because of him wearing armor having 120 or something HP, it feels frustrating but at the same time, it reminds me about how that sort of thing exists

Yeah if the suppressor messes up the front barrel of the gun in even the slightest way, it will affect the accuracy because the barrel in front is specifically made to move the bullet as easily as possible with no damage inside because theres also a lot of heat dispersion that goes into firing a bullet
