Well I can tell you that aim is like a prerequisite to reaching higher tiers of play in fps. Like conditioning in sports, if you can't run, you can't play football. Outside of that, it really depends team to team and player to player. But I'll give you a quick top 5 things to learn list.

1. Work on your call outs, pings, how information is passed around in general.
2. Work on your macro. Macro in this game is very complicated and there's a lot of factors that every good player is considering at once to decide what objective to play next.
3. Play the meta. I know people say it's boring and that you're a meta slave and whatever. But like, playing the meta is just freelo. If you want to get creative, then choose like 1 - 2 things to be off meta with. Unless something like goo gun, in which case you prolly need to build your whole play style around it.
4. Memorize every spawn in the game. Its a daunting task I know, but definitely doable. You can pull up the Apes Squad spawn tool now (it's a website just look up apes squad under game data) to look at all player spawns. It also really helps to know what points are easy to push, and even know stuff like what vaults have people spawning where and what the timing of everything ends up being.
5. Improvement > RS. Staying hard stuck gold or plat because you never play ranked and are scared of losing RS on a new kit or some shit is loser mentality. Sometimes you need to lose to gain. Focus on improving, your rank will take care of itself.

Though real talk, muscle memory IS important..just not how people think of it in reguards to aiming. IMO it's super important to have your gadgets seperated into use cases/types in a way that makes sense to you, then bind those uses to the same keys for every loadout. Like gadget 1,2,3 is always Heals or defensive/Utility/Movement

Getting caught by suprise is like the easiest way to lose. Uhhhh and the point about memorizing vault spawns is mainly for the initial fight. Like when you first spawn in looking at a vault, having a plan for what to do is super helpful. The first fight sets the tone for the whole game so winning that is arguably most important of all

He also has a video on how to imporove aim by desensitizing yourself to chaotic fights via increasing an decreasing the speed of training dummies in aim trailers.
