Metas when used as a skill gap or gameplay style is boring, imo. The REAL uniqueness of a game is found by using that niche weapon and getting good. Not flamethrowers, not AKMs, not 1887s, not M11s, not XP35s, not M60s, not the ShAK-12. I'M talking REAL NICHES. I hardly see the use of the Pike-5.56, the M93R, the dagger, the dual blades or the cerb (though that gun hates me so I understand), or the Lewis or the MGL32. Skill gap meta was a thing in earlier seasons : akm was good all around but always lost to a good fcar, XP and m11 had the same relationship and so did the M60 with the lewis

You were forced to learn the better gun to compete, but again, the finals is a team based game, you could easily correct your weapons flaws by exploiting position

Also in earlier seasons, most melee weapons were turbo niche because it was really hard to approach, the first sword dash cancel M2 exploit was hard to use effectively and it made a niche loadout at the time usable to the point of top scoring with it
