Definitely. SA12 is like the perfect example of what happens when high skill ceiling is also the best option. You get this wonderful spread of skill and it really felt like heavies could "show off" for a while. With Shak + winch it's really just about who can aim the best and get their free kill. Then just sit there as anchor the rest of the fight. I maintain that grapple is better than dash, but only slightly and they kinda play to different situations. So yeah I don't blame people for just running dash and never bothering to learn grapple.

Also yeah model and revo could both be really good with better servers. Tho I agree with devs, medium needs some major changes to really find a good spot in this game. I love medium movement, but the class outside of that is just "my weapon ttk is faster" and that's very 1 dimensional for this game.

A five round revolver shotgun, a mag fed pump action, a shotgun that deserves no introduction, and a gun I need to actually break down, because Auslofs are so cool.

Basically, back before mass production of weapons was viable, it was way cheaper to strap a tube to a shotgun and spring-load an arm to load shells into the empty tube than it was to make a proper tube fed shotgun.

And that’s the entire mentality of the Alofs or “Auslof” system. It’s a single shot shotgun with a tube attached to the side full of shells, and a spring loaded loader arm that transfers shells from the tube to the chamber.

How it works is after firing the shell and opening the chamber, the spent shell flies back and hits a trigger, causing the loader arm to snap forward and dispense a new shell in the chamber. As you close the shotgun, the arm returns to the tube to grab a new shell.

TL;DR it was a super unique, significantly less expensive way to turn a single shot shotgun into a spring-loaded lever action.

Exactly lolll SA12 is perfect and allows it to shine in the right hands. higher skill ceiling actually means variety in meta, as long as theres not something that requires little effort for a ton of value. i think mediums struggle is that their util is always the same. Defib 100% of the time, jump pad probably 99% of the time, and then goo is used 90% of the time. thats really it, in comp glitch traps are banned but when they werent banned it was only glitch, pad, fib.

in ranked theres a little bit more variety but its all just kinda bland

i would want medium to have access to better util, so theres an emphasis on gadget usage. lights gadgets are insanely strong, glitch nades are too impactful. heal is crazy strong, and crazy fast. gateway is great especially with a coordinated team. heavy util allows for different plays and skill expression.

Mediums have fib, they have goo stalls which is obnoxious to go against, and pads whenever the cashout is not on bottom floor

Ngl I don't want glitch traps to be relevant 😭 Medium is only movement with a good weapon, where as I feel like the other classes have a lot more flexibility, even within their archetype. Medium's "job" or "archetype" is to bridge the gap between heavies and lights, providing smoother more cohesive team play. They only really do that in one very simple way currently. I hope whatever Embark is cooking up is gonna help add some real depth to the class.

2. Weapons will do 150 damage before they do 250 damage, and 250 damage before they do 350 damage

With the above in mind:

If a Light is using the SR-84 which has a 80m-100m falloff range, that outranges every single other falloff range in the entire game. HOWEVER, Light has so little HP that even IF you poke at them with weapons well beyond your falloff range, it’ll still threaten the Light’s HP quickly.

The same does not apply if the person with that long range weapon has 250 HP, or even worse, 350 HP.

Heavy with long range = Not only can zero weapons aside from other long range weapons even participate, Heavy will still win regardless against any non-Heavy because they will brute force via HP diff.

With a 1.5 second reload between every shot, it would have a very long ttk (unless it headshots) and it could have lowered movement speed to accommodate for snipers trying to fight back.

Oneshotting still wouldn’t be okay, but even if it couldn’t, it would run into the same issue of being hyper binary where it’s either basically completely worthless or completely overbearing depending on whether or not the shot ever actually lands.

To use an analogy, imagine if a class had a weapon that did 350 damage, but only had 1 shot per 30s reload, and regardless of ADS or hip fire, the spread is wide enough to easily miss even from 0m away.

When it doesn’t work, it’s fucking useless and a borderline troll pick. When it does work, it’s completely unfair.

The only reason Light is allowed to is because Light can do the exact same back to the other Light with several weapons in Light’s repertoire.

The only reason Dagger is allowed to is because it’s a melee on the lowest HP class that requires a 500ms (800ms now because of a bug) windup that only works if you hit a specific part of the body.

The only reason Sledgehammer is allowed to is because it’s the most immobile class in the game and requires a long windup attack that’s impossible to hit on a Light even if you Winch them.

That's the idea behind the destruction. You aren't going to be hitting headshots basically ever (it literally acts like a grenade launcher), but the idea is that body shots will be fairly frequent and the destruction makes up for the difficult headshots. If a sniper is sitting on a rooftop 50m away, you aren't going to pull out a cannon and one shot them from the ground, but you are going to blow up the whole edge of that roof, potentially dropping them into the building or forcing them to relocate.

Tbh this sounds more like a spec. They could just make it a deployable with 2 cannonball charges.

That's interesting, I feel like all the light specs so far have been mobile/evasive but not destructive, and all their destruction gadgets like bore and breach aren't immediate solutions so perhaps it's part of the class identity.

It could hit anything winch can, but it's hitscan like nullifer and only gets two charges. Hitting a player, or cashout station, or smal debris, will cause them to start floating like they are in the anti-gravity cube's radius. Players would only be affected for ~4 seconds, and debris and cashout stations would be affected for more like 10.

It doesn’t “punish campers” any better than your typical grenade because like a typical grenade, said campers will simply get out of the way. Difference is you can throw a cube a third of the distance, and it doesn’t do any damage, so wouldn’t you know it, it’s straight up worse.

What if they dont use it to engage? perfectly possible in monaco houses for example. Not a bad idea but I think tping through walls would be a bit OP. Another example; you could scan someone with sonar nades, tp in between them, get a kill, and leave unscathed, which would be incredibly frustrating, and every M would need glitch traps just to counter it
