Each recruitment channel currently has a slow mode set at the maximum (6 hours). Users are allowed to repost after this amount of time has passed. We used to have a rule of one message per 3 days but after the recruitment channels were split into datacenter specific channels, it didn't seem needed at all and that seems to be case now as well. Adding a separate channel for each datacenter purely focused on static recruitment would lead to unnecessary channel bloat compared to the current setup (13 channels vs 7 channels) and isn't a great solution at all.
We're talking about how we can improve the recruitment channels in other ways. In the meantime, Discord has a decent search function to help narrow down your static search. For example, in:#recruitment-crystal static , using other operators such as after: 2019-11-30 if you want to limit the results to messages from the start of December. Alternatively, use https://reddit.com/r/ffxivrecruitment or other Discord servers focused on recruitment.

I think honestly the bigger issue is the inconsistency between the mod teams view on a spoiler. You have some who consider a picture of a tree in an ShB zone a spoiler (maybr slightly exaggerated) while others who consider screens of ShB characters totally fine. The polarization in views is confusing and should be addressed in my opinion.

Generally, things that include unremarkable content (e.g. a tree in an expansion zone) should not be considered as a spoiler. This also goes for anything disclosed officially, such as in patch notes or on a live letter stream provided those things are still considered unremarkable, and not things like unexpected character appearances.
For anything else that could be or definitely is a spoiler, spoiler tags should be used. If you're ever not sure, err on the side of caution and spoiler tag it anyway.
I'll make sure the other mods are aware of this.

I got a warning for complaining about a law about FOOD, (specifically). no politics were discussed. I was just bummed I wasnt going to be able to eat it anymore.
I re-read your rules about politics and it prohibits what people generally consider to be politics. By that i understood politically divisive things like political parties, elections, foreign policy, guns, etc. That I totally understand.
I didnt realize it included non controversial, non political topics like, "im glad they fixed nutrition labeling on foods so i know how many calories im eating." (Praising a non controversial LAW they passed about food)
Can you please more clearly state in your rules section where you draw the line? Will people get warnings for saying things like, "so many hoops to jump through to get canadian citizneship, wish they reduced the years from 7 to 5? " Since it talkes about citizenship law?

It's a temporary measure due to recent real-life events. It's not permanent and people who are from there will be able to say such things in a short while.

Hey so I'm having trouble with Kupo Bot recalling a character name of mine that I haven't had for more than half a year. I've changed names thrice since that one, yet when I use !myglamour <job>, it uses that old name. Other commands that pull my character info directly from Lodestone have my current, accurate name. Is there a way to reset or fix what name Kupo Bot internally associates with my character ID?

Kupo Bot performs lookups on lodestone ID so if you change the name without updating the saved character it’d probably display the old name but current data. In hind sight I could probably do a comparison of saved name vs current name and correct the database entry automatically and will take that into consideration, thanks!

I think FFlog data privacy should be respected a bit by making the change. Dear r/FFXIV Mod Team,
I feel like it is necessary to make an #arr-story-spoilers channel, at the very least. Should there be channels for each and every expansion? No, probably not. However, if users of this Discord Server wish to post and share story details of the base game as much as they’d like with other users at a similar progression point that they are (meaning, also currently in ARR) without the threat of being potentially disruptive to the conversations ongoing in #general-discussion and having negative disciplinary actions taken upon them, or the risk of having the expansions spoiled for them in #archived-lore-spoilers, then they should have that ability to do so.
I also acknowledge the fact that you would be running into the same problem again if you were to create such a channel (i.e., a new person going into this new channel and getting spoiled somewhat) but, at least there would be no threat of getting spoiled for the other expansions, as well. With such risks being accounted for, the mod team has done similar things like this in the past, like making separate spoiler channels for new expansions temporarily (Ex: #587202965878865920 ). As stated beforehand, this new channel would create a place for players that are new and currently going through the story of ARR to share their experiences without being disruptive to the conversations in #general-discussion, thus creating a more positive server experience for all players, new and old.
Here is my proposal in simpler terms:
-Create a new channel called #arr-story-spoilers for just the story of ARR (That being the very start of the game to where ARR ends. Upon reaching expansion content, the user would, if they so chose, knowing the risks of spoilers, proceed to #archived-lore-spoilers ) This channel would serve as a place to discuss and talk about ARR’s story without the threat of disrupting conversations in #general-discussion or potentially having a new player’s experience ruined for future expansion content if they were to head into #archived-lore-spoilers with the objective of sharing their experience with ARR’s story content. Creating this new channel would also free up #general-discussion of most “story content bloat” (i.e. massive black wall of spoiler marked texts and spoiler marked pictures). (Note: Small sentences of spoiler text and a few screenshots here and there that are properly marked as spoilers in #general-discussion would still be acceptable, anything excess of that would be relegated to this new channel).
- #archived-lore-spoilers would still serve as it always has, encompassing every aspect of FFXIV’s story. There would still be an inherit risk with using the channel, as always, but at least new people would have a good place to discuss ARR without the threat of being spoiled for the rest of the game. If a player wishes to go into #archived-lore-spoilers after they have completed ARR’s story, then they should be aware of the potential risk that comes with using it.
I do hope that you take this proposal into consideration, as I would like to make this server a better place for everyone, be that someone who just started FFXIV and would like to share their story experiences freely with others, or someone who has cleared everything and is up-to-date on their story content. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I will see you next time.

I really don't think we have enough of this type of traffic to justify an additional channel. Very occasionally we have a player such as yourself who wants to talk about the story with pics as they go, and they usually use #archived-lore-spoilers if they really want to do this. It's seldom ever more than one player at a time, and most of the time there's no one at all.

Because there's no version of the BLU job icon that matches the same older design of the other icons, the only option to get them all to match up is to update the rest of the emoji. So, for accuracy, I'll be doing just that and updating them all to the newer design. Scratch that, found them.

@elder violet I'd recommend putting a small non-embed note in #about-this-server about the embeds. If users have "Link Preview" disabled in Text & Image settings, they won't see anything in the channel but the image. I know a few people have mentioned it before when expecting results from Kupo.

There is no reason a bot should unintentionally allow a staff command through without staff rights. Code doesn't work that way.

@turbid kayak thank you for bringing this up. Non-mods using mod commands are indeed not stated as a punishable offense under the rules in #about-this-server. As is also stated, there are no unwritten rules.
After discussion among the mod team, we have concluded that its fine for users to use the mod command except if a user attempts to impersonate a mod or are spamming it. Thus, a rule stating non-mods may not use mod commands will not be added.
We are considering having kupo print an error message if an attempt was made by an invalid user as well.
No mods will bap users for using mod commands moving forward but mods will bap users if they become a nuisance using it as per rule 1 and 4.

Uh. I mean I’ve thought about it but Kupo Bot is basically my way of donating a resource to the community and I’m not really in it to make a profit. Extra money never hurts obviously but it’s not my goal which is why I don’t advertise it. Kupo will never have any commands locked behind a pay wall. I’ve considered adding a badge to things like !me and !wl but ultimately am not sure what people would actually want.
