My suggestion: These jobs start at level 60 and requires you to have a level 60 desciple of war or magic job and the ownership of the Shadowbringers expansion.

Unfortunately, this is nothing new. Discord has all the features needed to protect users against this kind of phishing:
- Don't click on links that look spoopy. Y'know the popup that asks you if you trust the link? That thing. It says spoopy. Look at the URL, don't just click.
- Turn on 2FA. Add that extra comfy & sensible layer of comfy security to your Discord account. Seriously, do it.
- Privacy & Safety settings. There's an entire tab in the account settings dedicated to you being able to control who can add you as a friend, send you DMs, and how much Discord looks at those DMs to make sure they are safe.

Re: #trivia, a small suggestions for it based on a trivia game I participated on another server. In there, between the question getting posted and when people can answer, no post are allowed on the server so players can take their time to think about what the right answer is
So something like "next question in 5" chat not allowed in post "question 1: _____" 5 second wait, then chat opens again for people to type in their answer

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the official mobile app only allows you to search by only one flair. The normal search operators aren't supported.
The official mobile app seems to have it's own set of search operators, such as flair_name: instead of flair:, but even then it only allows you to search for one flair at a time. Even if it did, it would mean having a separate set of post flair filters just for official app users.
In that scenario, flair_name:"[News]" works, but trying flair_name:"[News] flair_name:"[Interview]" won't return any results, even when tossing something like AND in there.

Maybe it's a good idea to add seperate channels for all the jobs here. (For beginners, especially since shb brought a lot of new players.) I know the balance exists, but they usually talk about bis and endgame rotations, so the question will get lost between an endgame discussion. There are a lot of general questions as well in the 'questions-and-help' channel so it might get messy if people discuss about jobs there.
Like this, people have more of a chance to get their question answered and sprouts can play their job properly. There will be less rants as well in the 'rants' channel about players that are clueless. Just an idea. 🙂

I can't speak towards all job channels on the balance, but at least for BLM channels we regularly field questions from both brand new players to the job and ones trying to push endgame optimization

We’ve toyed with role channels but would not go as far as classes. In the end we have to weigh the work we would create for mentors against the benefit.
And for the time being I believe the balance fills the role just fine.
But it is on my radar.
And I imagine we will do it eventually.

We’ve tried quite often to reign it in. As the default channel it draws the most attention which makes that hard to do. We can take consideration of having a channel that isn’t general discussion which has a stricter rule set.

To be fair the UX side of things on Discord could be better. If you click a link to a channel or server you cannot access there should be a more clear indication of that. On Desktop it tries to take me to the channel but its just empty, on Android it takes me to the server's "default" channel.
Without that though, making it more clear in the embed is probably going to make a big difference for people knowing what they need to be in.

I don't think announcements are typically important, but the idea seems to be for people to be told things without having to visit this discord channel every time, and a summary of changes seems like the ideal use of that

Do you think it could be possible to add the current frontlines map into a command? :)
The rotation is static (Secure > Seize > Shatter > Secure), and change time is the same as daily reset, which makes it easier.
I skimmed over the current KupoBot commands and didn't find one, and I believe it would be a nice addition!

You could poke around the recruitment channels but if you're looking for a quick lfg you're better off in something like the hunt discord since this server is meant for all servers (on the global release)

I strongly suggest either dropping the affiliation with reddit or installing proper moderators who comprehend the job deacription means actively looking over the reddit at least once an hour for issues and investigating entire threads (topics/posts) for issues.
Currently, what exists are lazy enablers.

r/FFXIV is a subreddit that routinely gets over 2,000 comments and 150 posts a day. It is not possible to take a magnifying glass and look over each and every piece of content submitted to ensure that everyone who participates in the subreddit is adhering to the rules and guidelines, even with robot moderators.
That's why the report button exists, below every single post and comment, enabling you to let the moderators know about potential issues. Additionally, every page has a button for you to send a message to the mod team for things which can't be conveyed in a report.

Well, with IRC you can only kick/ban/mute. And messages "can't be deleted."
Though the IRC bot bridge can have its messages removed, though cause its discord.
I'm not sure about running irc mod commands via the bot though.
Slowmode for IRC is also needed if you were going to have the bot on #general-discussion

Our problem is that Kupo is heavily integrated into Discord, and that includes the filter we use to abide by Discord's ToS

Again, our existing mod tools would not work there and we're not going to make all of the mods install IRC to be able to take action on users there

well, I already figured out i was suggesting it to the wrong people 😛 but with the bridge bots you can do all the actions through the bot, don't need to install anything
i'll go bark at the right discord now, consider it meh
but all the mod tools would work the same, except treated as one user... unless a mod does a kick/ban on the IRC side throguh the bot to a specific registered user. but again, consider it tabled I suppose 🙂

IRC is outdated protocol and as much of nostalgia I have I wouldn't use it just like I wouldn't use AOL or MSN if they still were here. There's nothing IRC has that Discord doesn't have at this point. People who stick to IRC are not people who pursue usability and functionality, those are people who follow nostalgia and refuse changes so that there would be more moderators. Then the bot bridging channels will have to be properly implemented which will require this server to have separate channel called #irc_chat or something close to it because Discord allows additional channels and IRC will have to be on one specific channel unless Eanae decides to hold additional IRC server that will have mirrored channels to discord and not occupying all channels in this case.
I see the appeal but then all of it will require mirroring of permissions, some functions will simply not work and then you have problem of authentication, slow mode and everything

Well, considering I already realized I was talking to the wrong FFXIV server about the channel.... 😉
But even so, there's a lot more flexibility with IRC than discord, among other things. And at least, using freenode, you can set registered nicks only and control access in many ways, but eh
I'd never suggest hosting your own ircd for something like this at any rate, other discord groups I do it for don't. Heck, for one we use IRC as a relay between discord and slack and i'm in the IRC because I don't have slack, lol
But my IRC usage is much more based in practicality, compatibility, and usability than anything related to nostalgia... but like I said before, while it's easy to implement and moderate properly, i was like 'call it tabled' because this ain't the right group - there's no split community here of two different userbases for the same group. So it's irrelevant and would really only benefit me right off the bat (though i'm sure more people would use it) in terms of this discord group. Hence me saying "aw forget it "

managing all the discord groups i'm in alone is a pain, nevermind all the other apps, and almost all the stuff I do outside of gaming is IRC centric (networking, sysadmin stuff, OSS projects, photography, fish keeping, camping, ham radio, electronics, etc)
I have a 4K Monitor with no DPI scaling and still have to scroll all the discord groups i'm in -_-

Additionally, there's nothing the server could do about it anyways. That system is entirely controlled and managed by Discord, if something was wrong you'd need to report a bug with them.
But as said, posts are not shared retroactively and only future posts will shared to your server. That link is correct.

@turbid kayak I created it mid LL and nothing was being passed when new posts were being created, so it seems something isn't working properly.
