I know some time back there is this silly little bug
where if you didn't type out that person's discord ID in full when you are trying to ping, there is a tendency for the @ to jump to the first person on the list (ie if you are trying to ping me (ruiooshima) - and you tried to lazy and type @ rui , depending who else have nickname/ID that starts with rui it might have pinged him instead.

imo, as I have also commented on the general-ffxiv channel, sometimes people choose to ask in the general-ffxiv channel may be because it is during a downtime where the asker might feel that it may be faster/easier to get a response in the general-ffxiv channel as it is the main channel where the main attention is probably at. Sometimes it might be because it is a simple question where the answer is probably a one liner, yes/no.
Nonetheless if the answer requires a more lenghty response, and the general-ffxiv channel is being busy with conversations going on, feel free to direct/bring the asker over to new-player-discussion channel to help him/her with that. Else if there are people who are being mean to the asker, then it would be our job to police such behaviours.

When trying to make a point like this, i think its a good idea to show several cases of where this was disruptive, also, it would be a good idea to not lash out at people, instead ping us so that we can deal with the situation at hand, i sometimes am a salty raider so i know how tough it is to hold inside anger and frustration, but bad things happen when i let it out to my surroundings instead of venting about it to a friend, then sitting back and thinking about it, next time you bring up this topic, show us cases of this happening where you thought that it was disruptive, and give us something to think about, posting this right after you get a warning and without mentioning cases where it happened outside of that one event that was disruptive doesnt give us something to think about, build up a case, put a bit of effort into it and show us, rule changes are a big deal and take time to work out.
I understand the frustration, ive been salty about things before, but lashing out and telling people to "fuck off" isnt the answer, pinging us and then giving us something to think about after would have been the correct way to go about it.

I'd just like to throw out the suggestion to remove or lower the rate at which @ancient gale gives out topic reminders in #questions-and-help. I definitely appreciate the message it's trying to get across, and the channel is one of my favorite partly because of how tightly run it is. But I feel the reminder messages mostly just interrupt chat and give false "unread messages" notifications, rather than helping keep things on track.

Has there been any consideration on allowing people to role themselves with their worlds, and having individual channels for those worlds? I think it'd be fantastic to facilitate more co-operation among members of the Discord in-game, and would help a lot of the newer players (like myself) to meet up with other new players and tackle some of the older content that isn't being done by too many people.

Are there certain cliques/groups of people that rule certain channels? I was trying to fill in some of my lore gap and then wanted to have a discussion about story. I had an unpopular opinion and as a result was shamed for it even thought it had all to do with plot and lore. I did not personally insult anyone, but was insulted in turn by some? Especially regarding my intellect? There was some elitism that was unsettling.

A nice tip for preventing spamming with copy paste regarding that disgrunted spammer.
Login on the Dyno Dashboard, go to automod and use the option io highlighted to automute the user so you can ban the user without much spam and pings. (It has a weakness, it can mute legit users that has some lag, very rare though, so set the automute timer on 3 minutes or so.)
I use that on other servers i manage.
I do have some nice custom commands you can use like promoting and demoting commands with specific roles that can use them.

And it feels like it would kind of do two things worse
As a way to reach people, it would be a less efficient channel than Reddit/Twitter/Ig/Pixiv

Can I petition a change to the #archived-lore-spoilers channel to either change it's name to #lore-discussion or to change the channel description? It's kinda meant to be the channel where people can talk about events in the story which they can't talk about elsewhere right? Someone ||watching Haurchefant dying|| couldn't talk about that anywhere but there and as the channel is now there isn't really a rule that stops people from intentionally spoiling new players in that channel so for example that person really wanted to talk about what happened and someone else would/could just say ||"yeah lol it wasn't as bad as when Ysayle died lol"|| I just think it's really unfair, I've seen it happen a fair amount of times and they defence is always "It's #archived-lore-spoilers"

This has been asked before, and was declined due to role bloat (there are 66 servers)
Also, PF is cross-world and world visit exists now, so there isn't really any need to have more than just the datacenter roles
If you really want to say what specific server you're on, you could always put it in your username like others do

Quickly looking at the channel, since it was split yesterday, there have been 19 screenshots and 5 art pieces sent in that channel.
What we can do is look at how active it is in terms of each type for a little while, and then decide on splitting it further or not. Simply because it's not been very long at all since things were changed.

Compared to the old layout, very few channels (only two) are not in organized channel categories.
Channel categories can be collapsed, marked as read, or even muted, allowing to you see only the channels you want to see.
