Creation tomestones get you item level 330 gear in Rhalgar’s Reach. Mendacity tomestones are weekly capped but you can get 360 gear from them gradually. As your item level goes up to meet minimums, the 24 man raids Rabanastre and Lighthouse also drop gear at those respective levels, and all the level 70 dungeons can drop decent gear, especially the most recent which is Swallows Compass
the normal versions of the Deltascape and Sigmascape 8-man raids also drop parts you can trade for gear once you can enter them and they aren’t super hard

You can get weapons by farming those for parts plus using tomestones, or you can die of boredom in the deep dungeon Heaven on High, or you can learn to do extreme primal fights
So you can do Eureka and/or all this other stuff, there are options for you

The goal of prog is to see as much of the fight as you can, as early as you can. Melding vit helps with that immensely. Once you are hitting enrage and have a better grasp of the timeline you can start dropping vit and adding dps melds for the clear if necessary.

typically, it drops you down to whatever the maximum possible stats you have on those items for the ilevel you're synced to. For example, for Praetorium. You're synced to i130 on all of your items. HOWEVER, all of your materia bonuses are removed. At i130, this isn't really a big deal because none of the i130 gear could be melded afaik (Dreadwyrm stuff might be different. I don't remember and I never had any myself)

unlock the 24man in kugane, omega in rhalgr's reach, do them for first-timer creation bonus
then continue with msq, unlock the rest of the msq and optional dungeons in rhalgr's reach
do the lvl 70 dungeons roulette, maybe try eureka, it technically gives you an i355 (i think) weapon but it takes a lot of grind to get it
and the weapon is the most important upgrade, so it's really worth 1000 creation instead of like, gloves and 2 accessories

im ilvl 305 SMN iirc, and seem to really struggle in both the alliance raid. I've basically held off on the Deltascape since I don't think I can do enough DPS. I'm wearing mostly 300 gear (from dungeons), my weapon included. I've got about 900 of the creation tomestones now. I'm not sure if I should just hold off on any gear and just grinding for the weap, or should I just grind for my Lost Allagan gear (minus weap)

The reason Chest, Pants, Hands, Boots are listed twice is because not every job wants to get the chest before the pants or vice versa. I'm letting you decide. Same with the hands and boots.
If you're going for a full non-savage set, then it doesn't matter. Just buy stuff. Weapon is the biggest damage increase, but four weeks after 4.4 releases.
