An SE account can have multiple service accounts. Like sub-accounts so you can have family share one account, but have their own characters and such (but also requires separate game purchases). Usually when you register the game with a code (or on PS since it's automatic) it creates a service account if you don't already have one on the SE id. If I'm remembering correctly.
SE Members is the store account. It's separate from the SE account you use you login to the game.

Is this game good for someone who enjoys life-skilling? I have previously played for a bit so I am familiar with how the job and crafting system works but I was wondering if it's beneficial in the long run, maybe for making money in the auction house or something? the only trouble my regular launcher gave me was that for some stupid reason despite the entire installation being on my F drive (a SSD i keep separate from my C:/), it needed at least like 10 gigs on my C available to update

yes because a server on the specific DNS path can be broken
If you know the URL you get the update from you can try doing a tracert to the specific dns in cmd and see if it shows up as connection timed out or refused but really your best bet is to wait if that's the issue
if this is still occuring some time later try reinstalling or something 🤷♀️
