can anyone explain the backup ui function on the ff14 login window? i know you go to configure and go to backup ui then save the file, but when i try to restore something by hitting the backup file again and (needing that window to prompt up before seeing that option is confusing as fuck. i accidently uninstalled my game hitting restore a couple tabs below...just poor design) choosing the file and having it say restoration was sucessful, it never seems like anything actually changes?

spending all this time learning collapsing toolbars and finally get it i think, but i thought i ruined everything and the fact that it didnt seem like i was reverting to my previous settings makes me scared to mess with things further

what does it actually save? unless im doing something wrong my hud is not being saved nor is my macros...not sure if macros are supposed to be or not

When you open the menu it checks against the current backup servers which prevents you from initially backijg up anything. After that you can backup your character or system settings once every 24 hours.

You have to do these backups manually

the trial doesn't make you download everything, it skips locations and bosses that your account cant see because you're on the trial

so for example, it wont download the endwalker locations, but it will download the endwalker gear because other players might be wearing it

You can't "force" a specific fate to spawn, but there can only be so many Fates up at once in a given region. By clearing other fates yourself instead of just waiting out their 15min timer, you can make fates spawn faster, therefore getting your desired fate sooner

To be more precise, while the dev team is currently working on a Win11 version of the game, there is no actual Win11 iteration of FFXIV. However, the Microsoft devs went out of their way in general to allow for backwards compatibility between Windows 11 and Win10 games, so you can run FFXIV's Win10 version if you have Windows 11.

Gunbreaker -- Superbolide -- they give you a heart attack by automatically dropping their own HP down to 1, but then they are invulnerable for 10s.

1.) How do you calculate stats? How do I determine what is more valuable? Such as determination vs crit. defense vs tenacity.
2.) How is parry & dodge calculated? Is it a percentage? Do I have to be facing them?

How do I unlock melding?

Complete Forging the Spirit (materia extract/npc melding) and Waking the Spirit (player melding) in Central Thanalan.

How can I get my gear melded?

To meld visible Materia slots a NPC melder in any major city will do (marked with a Blue Materia icon on the map). To overmeld gear you'll need to request another player to meld your gear or to do it yourself.

Why can't I meld this Materia to my stuff?

Every Tier of Materia has a minimum item level requirement that gear must meet to allow melding of that Tier. Tier 7 and 8 Materia require an item level of 420 while Tiers 9 and 10 require an item level of 560.

Why is my meld giving +0 stats?

Every item has a maximum amount of stats that can be given through melding and the natural stats found on the gear. This can be seen at the bottom of the Materia Melding menu, as seen in the picture below.

The secondary stat with a higher number is already at the cap and cannot be further melded.
