Are you trying to walk there directly through the "gate", or are you talking to the one NPC standing there acting as a ferryman, who you will never talk to again after completing the quest (since once you unlock the zone, you can simply travel there via the main city's aetheryte)?

but you could try reselling it or swapping it with someone, so at least you get something out of it
if you've not bought complete edition yet, you can instead buy Starter edition, then register starter and endwalker, and ull not lose as much money from it
also, if you're gonna give it away, you'll wanna say where the code came from, what store, NA or EU, as you can't mix and match region codes

really not a good idea to do upgrades from old Win7 installs that have had junk or issues over the years, a upgrade to win10 could cause more issues
so basically, backup everything to an external USB drive of some sort
download Win10 from microsoft, create a install USB, install it clean, no upgrade, use win7 key to activate it, then you have almost a new computer, kinda 😄

You can do it either way. I have both, and I swap between them depending on what I'm playing.
But there are plenty of people who don't use one.
They play just fine.
