It's not as much as you think since the majority is shared between roles
I don't buy weapons until I need them, otherwise you can fit every tomestone set pretty easily in your armoury chest

Everything comes down to player competence. Hell I main RDM which is/are lower on the DPS because of their support access, and I can hold second or third in aggro in an 8 man for most of a fight.
