The only codes that "expire" are preorder codes. You should be able to hold a purchased code for as long as you need to (although there may be a limit - but it would be in excess of 12 months, I would imagine)

You need SCH Aetherflow for Energy Drain to work, and you don't get that unless you're higher level. If you're being synced down under Aetherflow (SCH) level, then you won't be able to use Aetherflow abilities
