it's technically against the Terms of Service, but they're broadly okay with mods and third party tools as long as you strictly keep them for personal use and they don't directly modify gameplay data

@bitter tinsel technically it is against ToS but it is not enforced. ppl say u get banned for using it to harass others etc but that isnt necessarily true either. yoshi P himself said that in that case, you'd get banned for harassment, not necessarily by the use of mods. many people also actively stream with mods on and talk about mods on stream as well. ppl say dont talk about it in game but that's a community rule. nobody has ever been banned for doing so. yoshi P also mentions that discord could also technically be considered a 3rd party which could potentially be against ToS and explains how gray area this rule is. it is also technically against the rules to play songs that aren't ffxiv using ur instrument (something like that) too but nobody really cares or is punished for it. people also use 3rd party programs like midi to play music on auto all the time everywhere and are not frowned upon

In the US, that's not really true. It's against ToS. Plenty of third party tools exist that are embraced by the original creators. Mod loaders for example. It's really just a policy thing

@twilit arch it is not true. as i stated above, yoshi p himself also says that you would be banned for harassing and not because u used a mod. xenosysvex also has experienced this first hand. ex - if i harass a dps after checking his low dps on my mod, i will get banned for only harassing and use of mod won't be part of the punishment

you will likely have some delay during combat, especially for off-global cooldown actions, yes

you'll probably only be able to fit in one off-GCD between your GCDs instead of two, which may require you to alter your rotations somewhat
