so you have to start as another class first

First question I was able to answer as a Noob myself

Savage drops the best gear of that tier (on par with augmented cryptlurker) and cryptlurker upgrades.

Ultimates have a special title and gives you a totem to buy a extra ultra shiny weapon that had the same stats as it's savage tier counterpart but with 1 more meld slot

Syncing Gear for Ultimates

Many pieces of gear are BiS when synced down. The 'low' stat on the higher ilvl gear will reach the stat cap on the lower ilvl gear. This outweighs the melds you lose in some cases, and in others it is few points of stats behind. The 515 (Augmented Law's Order) and 535 (Blade's) Relics offer customizable substats, which makes them BiS for all SB and ShB ultimates. When allocating substats, treat the stat cap as the value listed below and follow your job's substat priority (if not following a set that lists exact allocations). 535 Relics will provide 15 more substats in UWU and TEA vs 515 Relics, but no extra benefit in UCoB (as the 515 already caps all 4 stats). Please note that PLD has unique caps as sword and shield are separate items.

2 = Once you get to level 10 CNJ, you can start unlocking gatherers and crafters, and play them at will. They do craft end game gear absolutely! Very useful, but we recommend that if you aim to level one crafter, that you level most and/or all of them.
But no rush, you can wait until youre level 80 and then start as well.

One of the things you may like in FFXIV @leaden ginkgo you only have to worry about one character. You can swap play styles and crafting whenever you want so there's always something to do that benefits you directly at any given time.

not quite. 530 gear drops from more than one boss, so you start gearing up to beat the DPS check of later fights. e12s, the current hardest fight of savage tier, requires your raid team of 8 to put out 125k dps over 8 mins of mechaincs that forces players to disengage the boss, move, and do things correctly

Focus Target bar will always be up on your screen, no whatter WHO youre targeting.
I would say its one of the more often used target related things.

You might find yourself using it primarily to see what the boss is doing as many others do. Feel free to change the hotkey for it though

What do all these quest icons mean?

- These are how you reach the endgame and every other bit of content is locked behind it to some extent. MANDATORY
- These unlock a feature, instanced content, job actions, or a thing that is important for you to have. Do the ones related to your job/class and ones that unlock new content
- These usually have very little exp/gil as reward and are usually just part of the world/lore expansion. Mostly optional unless you are interested in doing them for the fluff
