Any tips for learning and lvling new classes? Ever since I started HW I started the DRK, AST and MCH class quests (and completed them except for AST) and had a hard time processing how they worked and was just a huge learning curve. 'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

Check the Controller settings in System Configuration inside of the game, that's where all control-related stuff would be.

so I played the game for a few weeks back in jan, put in about 80 hours into the game on free trial and finished the ARR MSQ, I got 4 jobs to level 50 ish with the road to 70 xp buff as well and was well into unlocking all the extra dungeons and whatnot before HW

The low level grind (1-20) is basically crafting one of each item in the crafting log for the first time bonus

As for how much of a grind they are, it entirely depends on how much gil you're willing to spend to speed it up.

Like if you know what you're doing and you're setting yourself up right. You can go from 20 to nearly 80 in a day from efficient Leve usage.

You can also lean on the daily/weekly options for more slower but generally cheaper sources of experience, mainly being the Crafting beast tribes, Grand Company supply turn-ins, and challenge log.

For the main grind as an average player you have 3 main sources of grinding that work pretty similar, being repeatable deliveries.
Leves as the strongest option, but limited in allowances.
Collectables (past level 50) as an unlimited but weaker alternative to Leves, which gives a crafter-specific currency to buy level cap (50/60/70/80) equipment with.
Ishgard Restoration as another alternative for a currency to buy vanity items to sell for gil or use for yourself.
