The main reason why you would want to buy the game before that point are the restrictions the trial comes with. Like a cap on how much gil you can have and not being able to use the market board

Easiest way is to do daily grand company turn ins. Buy HQ from market board and turn it in. 5 mins a day, go up 1-2 levels a day, low effort

There's not really a good way to do that, with the MSQ being the requirement that it is. Damage/HP numbers, sure, but levels not so much.
The only reason WoW could do a major level squish is because their system isn't story-centric. You can skip literally entire expansions-worth of content and still know what's going on over there. In XIV, that's not an option.
