Depends on the job. Leatherworker, armorsmith and weaver come to mind.
Do note though, crafting your own armor is never worth it, only do it if you plainly enjoy crafting.

It's going to cost you a lot of time to gather all the required materials and craft the subcrafts before you can craft the armor sets. Meanwhile, dungeons drop armor like crazy.

If you enjoy gathering and crafting then by all means, I mean, I do it. But it's a very cost-inefficient method to go about it

For the casters I only have SMN leveled so I'm gonna be biased, but I absolutely love the class. It's very mobile and adaptable, and doesn't have any RNG. The downside is that managing the pets can be janky sometimes, but it's usually never too bad. The video mentioned is really good too, it should give you an idea of what each does

When I "cancel my service account", can I start over with the free trial with the same Square Enix Account?

That's up to your preference. Personally I use either 125% or 150% on 1440p (I'm at work, so can't check which atm), and I have Windows's own scaling set at 100%, which might also affect it.

As far as I know too many password reset requests will trigger that 24 hour thing. The only options are wait it out or make a new account with a different email if you haven't already played or don't mind losing progress.

Nothing bad about it. Combat retainers can collect monster drops for you (leather, meat, bones, etc). Some people recommended having one since farming those things yourself is RNG.
