Gathering aether currents is pretty easy and painless, but it's highly recommended that you do it simultaneously with doing MSQ, because almost all the aether current locations are pretty close to the main MSQ path. At your level, that's pretty much it. She does her basic healing automatically. You might want to make place/heel macros for repositioning her easily, there's neat tricks to be done with the fairy being in a different place than you are. At higher levels, you can "sic" her specifically on one person to focus heal, make her do an AoE heal, eat her for a full Aetherflow stack, or transform her into a bigger, stronger fairy.

Is there any way to use the "Reply Temporarily" command that doesn't involve a literal hotkey?

Been searching around the web but decided to give this place a shot: tl;dr getting a black screen on MacBook Pro 2020 (Big Sur) after I press play from launcher...cursor turns into an in game one but that’s it, needs to force quit just to get rid of the screen. I’ve already tried going into the configuration files but that didn’t help (I know that this isn’t the best way to play, but I’ve seen that it’s possible so just want to give it a shot before committing to a whole pc)
Any advice?

like putting just "/a" in chat will switch you to alliance, but putting "/a hi alliance b" will only send that message in alliance without switching the channels or whatever

I wasn't sure if it would actually reply to whatever person I last spoke to or if that requires me to type out the entire name@world string every time too

not with ingame options, maybe if you use some external mouse software and set up a profile that puts different keys on the scroll, and then bind those in the keybind menu

Yes so instead of having swap back to your single target actions to do a dance while aoeing you can just keep doing it with the aoe ones. You're overthinking it

The game does support MacOS Big Sur, so maybe reinstallation does the trick. It is still in verficiation though.

yeah i just never really felt like that would change anything, my aoe gcds are already on a shitty ctrl hotbar so doing steps with 1 2 alt1 alt2 is easier anyways

Also there's a free trial that costs nothing that covers a lot of content. It lets you play up to level 60 and to the end of the first expansion. But has a some restrictions.

and yeah free trial is all of base game with some social limitations
so start with the free trial, play up to 60, then consider buying the complete edition if you want to go into level 60+ expansions

it's 12.99 x 6 for 180 days all at once
though for a big majority of players, entry sub is enough and it's the cheapest and you can pay it month by month
you can level all classes and jobs on one character, so the limit of 1 character per server doesn't affect most players

Best to check the web to see if ff14 supports Big Sur, it is known it had problems.
You can also try to bootcamp windows 10 and run ff14 via bootcamp. (Linux works too, via wine.)
